Remove A Titan Deadbolt

The first step to installing a new deadbolt is removing the old deadbolt. Titan deadbolts are manufactured by Kwikset. Although the brand is known for its high quality, removing these deadbolts isn't much different than any other type of deadbolt. Follow the instructions to successfully remove your Titan deadbolt.

Instructions

1. Open the door and insert the key into the deadbolt lock. Turn the deadbolt to the Lock position with the bar extended from the door.

2. Remove the screws from the interior portion of the deadbolt. If the deadbolt does not have screws, it is attached by clips. Locate the small slot on the underside of the deadbolt and insert a flat head screwdriver to disengage the clip. Pull the turn knob off.

3. Hold on to the other side of the deadbolt. Pull the sides apart carefully and set them aside.

4. Remove the mounting screws from the door jamb deadbolt plate. Pull it out of the door jamb to finish.

Tips Warnings

This process will also work for most other deadbolts.
