Remove The Center Cap On An Ideal Standard Sink

Ideal Standard is one of Europe's leading contemporary brands of kitchen and bathroom plumbing fixtures. According to Ideal Standard, its plumbing fixtures will enhance the total environment of your bathroom. Whether you choose an Ideal Standard sink or a sink from a different company, over time it may begin to develop a small leak or become squeaky due to aging parts. The most common leak/squeak point is the rubber rings located with the sink faucet assembly under the center cap. A plumber may charge an expensive hourly rate to fix the O-ring, but with a few quick tips and some basic tools, you can fix this yourself.

Instructions

1. Locate the water shutoff valve beneath the Ideal Standard sink basin. Turn the water off.

2. Relieve any existing pressure in the water lines by turning on the sink faucet.

3. Locate the center cap on top of the Ideal Standard sink faucet handle. Use the flathead screwdriver to pry it off.

4. Remove the handle screw with the Philips head screwdriver. Remove the handle.

5. Lubricate the cartridge stem and retaining ring with Vaseline.

6. Reassemble the Ideal Standard sink faucet in reverse order. Turn on the water, and test the faucet.

Tips Warnings

Be careful when removing the center cap so that you do not scratch the sink or faucet.
