Repair A Dripping Moen Singlehandle Kitchen Faucet

Repair a Dripping Moen Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet

The Moen single-handle faucet has just one lever to control the temperature and flow rate of the water coming from the spout. This is ideal for users because it is easy to operate. It is also easy to repair, since a single cartridge is all you need to replace. This project only takes about 20 minutes if you already have basic knowledge of faucets, and about an hour if you have never completed a repair like this.

Instructions

1. Turn off your water by closing both water valves under the sink.

2. Remove the plug on the back of the faucet that covers up the set screw. Loosen the screw with the Allen wrench and slide the handle off the cartridge.

3. Remove the dome cap, which is a round, cylindrical piece right under the faucet handle. Twist it to the left to loosen it and pull it off.

4. Remove any additional parts under the dome like the spout or washers (some Moen faucets have a spout piece under the dome; unscrew this to remove it). Remove the cartridge nut with a wrench.

5. Remove the cartridge from the faucet head by lifting it straight up and out of the faucet. Insert a replacement cartridge and reattach the cartridge nut and tighten it with the wrench.

6. Replace the dome cap and tighten this, then install the handle and tighten the screw with the Allen wrench.
