Ford's F-150 is one of the most versatile vehicles on the planet. With two engines, three cab sizes, two bed styles, two wheelbase choices and 10 trim levels to choose from, there are literally thousands of ways to equip this full-size pickup. The F-150 can be set up for work, play or just about any combination of the two.
A Wide Range of Options
All of these different permutations can make figuring out the capabilities of a specific F-150 somewhat difficult, however. Towing capacity, payload and GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) are affected by the engine, chassis and body style choice.
Specific GVWR
For instance, on the 2010 F-150 Lariat SuperCab with four-wheel drive, the GVWR is 6,900 pounds if it's equipped with the three-valve 4.6-liter V8 and 7,200 with the larger 5.4 V8. The long-wheelbase model is only available with the 5.4, but raises the GVWR to 8,200 pounds.

Two models wear the "Lariat" badge in the F-150 lineup. The Lariat is a mid-range trim level that's the chrome-badged alternative to the off-roading, more youthful FX4, and sticker prices start at $34,110. The Lariat Limited is a serious luxury pickup and lives at the very top of the lineup. The Lariat Limited has all of the toys, and at $47,195 is the second most expensive F-150. It's outpriced only by the Harley-Davidson model.
