Charmglow electric fireplaces use several bulbs to heat your home. Depending on the unit, your fireplace may use three or more bulbs to produce the holographic flame on your unit. Bulbs can break and cause the heating efficiency to diminish. Troubleshooting and inspecting your unit for common problems can not only improve your unit's performance but also increase its life span.
Instructions
1. Make sure your Charmglow electric fireplace is plugged into a standard 120V outlet if it is not turning on.
2. Turn off your fireplace if the switches light up but do not produce the flame effect. Rotate the two nuts holding the front glass counterclockwise with your hands. Tilt the glass down and then pull it away from your unit. Once you remove the glass, remove the ember bed and check for any broken or loose lights. Rotate the bulbs clockwise to tighten them in their sockets. If the bulbs are blown, unhook the spring clips holding them and then rotate them counterclockwise to unscrew them from the socket. Purchase replacement bulbs and screw them into the sockets. Charmglow fireplaces use 120 V, 40 watt E12 socket base light bulbs (candelabra base, B bulb).
3. Inspect the light bulb inside the top of the unit if the down lights do not light up. If the light bulb is loose, tighten it. Replace the bulb if it is damaged or blown.
4. Check the heater switch and make sure it is in the ON position if your heater is not blowing warm air. Turn the thermostat toward the HI position.
5. Remove the screws on the back of your unit and then remove the cover if the logs glow, but the flame effect does not work. Inspect the spinner and make sure it is mounted correctly. The spinner is the flame generator. It is attached to the metal bracket by a plastic tab. Call Charmglow customer service if the spinning motor is damaged and not working.
6. Turn off all the switches on your unit if the power and heater switches are in the ON position but your heater does not work. Unplug the unit from the electrical out and let it rest for about five minutes. Plug the unit back into the electrical outlet and turn it on.
