Coleman electric furnace sequencer problems

Coleman electric furnace sequencer problems

I am having problems with my sequencers on my Coleman Presidential electric (heat only-no A/C)furnace model 6806A732.Can you tell me which forum to post my questions in. I do not see any in your list of forums. Thanks for your reply. Sean what type of problem are you having? if it is not operating as it should, lots of times the sequencer is bad.are you blowing fuses? post it here and see if anybody resinds, but give a more detailed description of the problem. Thanks seabee570 for the advice. I have two sequencers in my 37 year old Coleman Presidential model 6806A732 electric heat only 15 KW furnace. They are not the original sequencers since they are not the ones listed in the furnace manual. One is a Klixon 51172-33-1 (a 2 switch)and it energizes elements 2 and 3 at the same time. It has on and off times of H30-70 and C1-40.This one does not work much of the time but when it does close its two switches on start up the two elements work fine and it does open the switches when the 24 volt circuit is cut by the thermostat. The other sequencer is a single switch. It has the number 33233 stamped next to it ( I think that is a Mars product identification number) and it is connected to element number 1 and blower motor. It has on and off times of H1-24 and C 45-72. It always closes its switch at a call for heat and the motor and element always come on. Its problem is that sometimes it will not open its switch when the thermostat cuts off the 24 volts to the sequencer heaters. I think it would run forever if I did not flip the breakers. I can not find any sequencers that come close to the timings in the ones that are currently in my furnace. I am hoping that someone out there may have found someplace (if it exists) to get some compatable ones and put a post in the forum. Thanks in advance for any imput. Respectfully Sean Some replacement models are: Klixon 51172-33, White-Rodgers 24A34-6, Gemline- GS106. Look at the cross reference chart at the bottom. Appliances and HVAC - Supco HVAC - Page 39 Sequencers - Appliance Factory Parts With the cross reference chart this is the White-Rodgers replacement at pexsupply.com White Rodgers 24A34-6 - White Rodgers - Electric Heat Sequencer, 4 Switches. On Timings, 1-110 Sec. Off Timings, 1-110Sec. Originally Posted by seanbean Thanks seabee570 for the advice. Respectfully Sean What it sounds like possibly, since you say they are not the original sequencers, is that someone has come along and installed a delay switch. If this is the case, it should only let the blower run for a few additional minutes after the thermostat breaks the call (auto or manual off). Thanks Wirenut 1110 for the links. Both the Supco Q106 and the White Rodgers 24A34-6 sequencers have on timings of 1-110 seconds and off timings of 1-110 seconds for all the switches. The Coleman furnace manual says the elements are supposed to have a 30 to 45 seconds of delay between each element on start up and shut down to prevent a hugh amperage draw at start up.(Basically 60+ amps for my furnace) I am hoping someone would explain how these two sequencers accomplish spacing out the on off time when all switches are opening and closing at the same time. Thanks for your imput Sean
