Installation Instructions For The Vance & Hines Fuelpak

You can install the Fuelpak in a matter of minutes.

Vance and Hines, a manufacturer of aftermarket motorcycle parts specializing in exhaust and fuel systems, also manufactures the Fuelpak --- an intelligent fuel management module for use on fuel injector motorcycles. The Fuelpak will enhance the power output of your bike's engine by taking into account modifications to the exhaust and air intake systems. It will also deliver the optimum amount of fuel to the engine throughout the engine's power band. Installation is easy, and you should be able to perform it without the help of a motorcycle repair technician.

Instructions

1. Remove the seat from your bike, and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Locate the bike's electronic control unit (ECU), and unplug the male wiring harness plugged into it. Depending on the make and model of your bike, you may need to use your bike's toolkit to provide access to the ECU.

2. Route the cabling of the Fuelpak so it will be covered by the seat or otherwise placed out of the way of any moving parts. Plug the male ECU cable you unplugged in Step 1 into the female port on the black connector protruding from the Fuelpack module.

3. Plug the gray male cable protruding from the Fuelpak directly into the ECU. Reconnect the negative battery terminal with the screen on the face of the Fuelpak module in an accessible location, allowing you to enter the necessary settings into the module.

4. Turn on the ignition switch, and check that the Fuelpak's LED lights turn on. Remove the cover using a Philips screwdriver. Enter the settings for your particular bike into the Fuelpak module. Included with the Fuelpak is a list of engine specs and modifications; check to determine the correct code for your engine in combination with any modifications you have performed on the bike, and enter the code into the Fuelpak. Select the mode by pressing the button to the left of the left display screen, and toggle the values up by pressing the upper button to the right of the right display window, or down with the lower button.

5. Replace any parts you removed to access the ECU, and check to ensure all wiring is appropriately stowed inside and under the seat of the motorcycle. Turn on your bike and enjoy.
