Troubleshoot An Intermittent Shutdown On A Mitsubishi Rear Projection Television

Plug the television into a different power outlet if the Mitsubishi keeps shutting down.

Mitsubishi rear projection televisions have protection circuits that shut the television down to prevent damage in the event of power fluctuations or unusual signals. The televisions also have sleep timers that can be used to shut the television down after a period of viewing. You can use the sleep timer to shut the television down after you have dozed off, say. Troubleshooting an intermittent shutdown on a Mitsubishi rear projection television can be accomplished by investigating these two areas.

Instructions

1. Turn the television on again after the green light stops flashing. A temporary power fluctuation may have caused the equipment to shut down to protect itself.

2. Plug the television into a different power outlet if the Mitsubishi keeps shutting down. The original power outlet may be too unstable for the equipment.

3. Try a different circuit if the problem continues. Look at the household power panel and read the labels on the circuit breakers, or fuses, to identify another circuit. For example, if you see separate fuses for "living room" and "kitchen," wheel the Mitsubishi from the living room to the kitchen, plug it in and try that circuit. If the problem goes away, have an electrician check the original circuit for trouble.

4. Purchase a power conditioner/surge protector from a consumer electronics store that sells home entertainment gear if you continue to have problems. Plug the conditioner between the wall and television. It will clean-up the power supply, stabilizing it so the Mitsubishi can operate properly.

5. Press the sleep timer on the Mitsubishi rear projection television's remote control repeatedly to turn it off--it's marked "Sleep." The television might be inadvertently shutting down because the timer is set.
