Fix A Garmin Zumo

Garmin Ltd. makes personal navigation devices -- electronic products that use Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to help people get where they want to go. Garmin has a variety of GPS device series, each of which caters to a different segment of the GPS market. The eTrex "hand held" series, for instance, is designed for backpackers, hikers and runners. The Nuvi series caters to drivers. The Zumo series is made for motorcycle riders. Because motorcycle-mounted Zumo-series GPS receivers are exposed to the elements, they're made to weather whatever the road and Mother Nature throw their way. Nevertheless, it's possible that at some point your Zumo acts up. In such a case, you can conduct a handful steps to get the Zumo to correct itself. If that doesn't work, you'll need to send the product back to Garmin to have it fixed or replaced.

Instructions

1. Move to a new location if your Zumo cannot find a satellite signal. The signal can be obstructed by large trees and buildings, and some areas just have poor satellite reception. Stop your motorcycle and make sure the Zumo is facing the sky. Even in perfect conditions, it can take several minutes for the device to find a satellite signal.

2. Allow the battery inside your Zumo to completely run out if the battery icon doesn't seem to be accurate. Then charge the battery fully. Do not interrupt the charge during this process.

3. Press the power key and hold it if the screen of your Zumo is frozen. Keep holding the power key while pressing the key that has a plus symbol ("+") on it. This will reset your device and unfreeze the screen. You can also try calibrating the screen by pressing the power key for one full minute.
