As of June 12, 2009, all full-powered broadcasting networks are required by the FCC to transmit their signals in high definition. This means that most older, analog stations will become unavailable and will be replaced with high-quality versions of the same stations you used to enjoy. You may be able to receive HD programming without a cable box. Depending on the age of your TV, however, it may require an additional HD tuner.
Instructions
1. Attach the antenna to your TV. Using the supplied coaxial cable, screw in one end to the antenna and the other end to the coaxial input on your TV. If your TV doesn't have an HD tuner, screw the other end into your external HD tuner's coaxial input.
2. Turn on your TV. Access the main menu using the remote or front panel display. Find the option that specifies whether to search for antenna or cable channels. Change this option to "Antenna."
3. In the same menu, find the "Auto Channel Select" option. This will scan all available channels to see which ones your antenna picks up. Be patient while the TV scans for channels---it can take a long time.
4. Test your antenna's reception. Using the remote, press the channel "Up" and "Down" keys to change channels. The TV will skip to the channels detected in step 3. Your TV is now ready for HD viewing.
