The Roman Catholic High School
The Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia was founded in 1890 with an opening enrollment of 500 students. Its founder was businessman Thomas E. Cahill, who earned a fortune in the coal, ice and wood industries. It was the first free Catholic high school in the United States but now charges for tuition. The school now educates nearly 1,000 students and offers a broad list of athletic and extracurricular activities that other smaller private schools are unable to offer.

West Philadelphia Catholic High School
West Philadelphia Catholic High School dates to 1916. When the school opened, 1,420 students from south and west Philadelphia were enrolled. Students are offered a technology-infused curriculum and interact with a religiously diverse student body. The school enrolls 500 students each year in grades nine through 12.
