Turn your TV into your monitor by connecting it to your computer
Connecting a computer to TV input is getting easier as technology has blurred the lines between computer monitor and TV. With one simple cable, you can turn your HD TV into a big-screen high definition computer monitor. A 24-inch monitor is thought to be huge by computer monitor standards and, odds are, your TV is at least that big, making this process perfect for watching streaming video or online gaming.
Instructions
1. Turn the computer off. This is not a safety measure or a precaution that should be taken to avoid possible damage; this is a time-saving step. The computer will need to boot up with the TV connected to it. Turning the computer off up front and connecting the cord while it shuts down will allow you to be finished faster than connecting the cable first and then having to restart the computer waiting for it to shut down then re-boot.
2. Connect any end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port in the back of the computer and connect the other end to the HDMI port in the back of the TV. The HDMI cable will send both audio and video data to the computer within a single cord and will allow you to watch high definition video files from your computer on your TV. You will be able to use your TV's remote to control the sound volume.
3. Turn the computer on and set your TV to the HDMI setting to display what your computer is transferring to your TV through your HDMI port. As the computer boots, the TV will be recognized as the computer's monitor and the images from the computer will be displayed on the TV.
