At 7,200 feet, Palmer Lake offers spectacular mountain views.
Perched on the high point between Denver and Colorado Springs known as the Palmer Divide, Palmer Lake, Colorado is a popular destination for hiking, biking, fishing, and other outdoor activities. The small town of 2,200 offers an inviting downtown with fine dining, shopping and a variety of historical sites set against stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. There is also the lake itself, of course. Located so conveniently near larger cities, few options for lodging are in the town of Palmer Lake, but a number of nearby hotels are along the I-25 corridor.
Palmer Lake
The town of Palmer Lake two options for lodging. In the center of the town there is a bed and breakfast named Grayson's Pineview Inn with four rooms priced at $95 per night as of 2011. A half mile down the street is the larger and more modern Inn at Palmer Divide, offering 24 rooms, all uniquely decorated. Guests enjoy free wireless internet, complimentary breakfast, and access to a fitness center and massage room. The inn has a restaurant on location called Mozaic, offering fine European dining.
Monument
Three miles southeast of Palmer Lake is the town of Monument, home to the Rogers Inn Bed and Breakfast as well as the Sundance Mountain Lodge. The Rogers Inn Bed and Breakfast has five guest rooms and includes complimentary breakfast and afternoon refreshment, with other meals available on request. The Sundance Mountain Lodge is a modern lodge-themed hotel, conference center, and restaurant which emphasizes its environmental awareness. Most rooms have private balconies, and pets are welcome.
United States Air Force Academy
The United States Air Force Academy is located just minutes south from Palmer Lake and a number of hotels along I-95 cater to the academy. The farthest north of these is the Fairfield Inn and Suites. In addition to amenities like 32-inch HD TV and complimentary breakfast, guests can enjoy a sea-salt pool, fitness center and a hot tub with a fire pit overlooking Pikes Peak. Farther south along I-95 there is a Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, Hilton, and Howard Johnson.
Castle Rock
North of Palmer Lake is the small city of Castle Rock which has a number of motels and hotels. Holiday Inn, Quality Inn and Super 8 are on the same block, offering comparable services and amenities. At the next exit farther north along I-95 Best Western, Hampton Inn, Days Inn and Comfort Suites are all adjacent to each other.
