A paint job will make your golf cart look good as new.
Does your golf cart look like it would not last 18 holes? A worn-out paint job is common among golf carts that have been through many rounds and have seen their fair share of birdies and bogies. When your golf cart starts to look sub par, you may decide it is time to put on a fresh paint job. In just a few hours you can make your golf cart as beautiful as a hole-in-one.
Instructions
1. Wash your golf cart. Clean any dirt or grime off of the surface you wish to paint.
2. Use the screwdriver to remove any objects such as mirrors or logos that you do not wish to paint.
3. Sand the surfaces you wish to paint using the sandpaper. Use coarse grit sandpaper to rough out any large imperfections. Use fine grit sandpaper to finish the entire surface, making it smooth. Wipe any dust off with the towel.
4. Apply the painter's tape around the edges of the surface that will be painted. Cover anything that you do not want to paint. Use a large sheet or piece of plastic to cover the seats and dashboard of the cart.
5. Apply two to three coats of acrylic paint primer using the paint sprayer. Allow each coat to dry at least 30 minutes before applying the next coat. Allow the final coat to dry for at least one hour before beginning the next step. Use fine grit sandpaper to lightly sand any paint bubbles smooth that may have occurred.
6. Apply three to five coats of the acrylic paint color of your choice using the paint sprayer. Allow each coat to dry at least 30 minutes before applying the next coat. Allow the final coat to dry for at least one hour before beginning the next step.
7. Apply at least two thin coats of acrylic paint sealer using the paint sprayer. Allow each coat to dry at least 30 minutes before applying the next. Allow the final coat of sealer to dry at least 24 hours.
8. Remove all painter's tape from the golf cart. Touch up any areas you may have missed using a small paintbrush. Use the screwdriver to replace any objects you removed before painting.
