Remove The Side Cover Of A Dell Studio Xps Desktop

Remove the Side Cover of a Dell Studio XPS Desktop

The first step in performing an upgrade on any computer is opening it. Once inside the computer, you have access to the hard drive, RAM, video card and other components. If you own a Dell Studio XPS 8000 desktop, your computer comes with a 64-bit version of Windows by default, giving your computer the ability to access several gigabytes of RAM for multitasking power. Remove the side cover of a Dell Studio XPS 8000 desktop to gain access to the internal components and perform an upgrade.

Instructions

1. Confirm that the computer is turned off, unplugged, turned on its side and positioned on a stable surface before beginning.

2. Remove the retaining screw holding the side panel in place. If it is screwed in too tightly, use a flat-head screwdriver.

3. Pull the side panel out in the direction of the back of the computer. Place your fingers in the metal lip to gain leverage.

4. Lift the cover to remove it from the track, and pull it away from the case.

5. Replace the side panel by performing steps 2 through 5 in reverse.
