The Power Commander III is an on-board fuel injection system controller that is installed onto a motorcycle. Developed by DynoJet, the Power Commander is a popular modification on many modern, fuel-injected motorcycles. After installation, the Power Commander can be hooked up to a computer via a USB cable. The software provided by DynoJet then allows the user to modify the fuel injection "mapping," which will often result in an increase in performance. Once the installation is complete, controlling the Power Commander via a computer is relatively easy and straightforward.
Instructions
Setting Up Environmental Options
1. Select the "Tools" menu option after you first open up the DynoJet software that you have installed on your personal computer.
2. Choose "Environment Options."
3. Select your language from English, German, Spanish, Italian or Dutch.
4. Choose how you want your maps to be saved upon closing the DynoJet software, as well as what you want the software to do upon connection of the USB cable to the Power Commander unit itself.
Working With Maps
5. Select the "Open Map File" button which will allow you to search and select for saved map files. Map notes will be shown in the lower portion of the "Map File" window.
6. Press the "Send Map" button to deliver the map of your choice to the Power Commander unit on the motorcycle. The map data will then be displayed and can be edited as you see fit. The notes section will also display.
7. Select the "Cylinder Trim Values" after choosing the "Power Commander Tools" button on the top menu bar. This allows you to change the fuel curve to different engine cylinders. The "Cylinder Trim" window will then allow you to use the sliders to manipulate the fuel amounts to individual cylinders.
8. Select "Advanced Mode" to change the cylinder mapping for each cylinder, as well as editing the "Duty Cycle" and "Fuel Change" options. DynoJet recommends only advanced users with additional monitoring equipment to work in this area.
Comparing Maps
9. Select the "Tools" button on the upper menu bar to select the "Compare Maps" feature.
10. Select two different maps after pressing the "Open Map File" button.
11. Compare the two maps by noting the red values, which signify differences between the two maps. Values in black are the same within both fuel maps. You are also able to display a table of the differences, as well as a table of averages.
Resetting Values
12. Select the Power Commander "Tools" button on the top menu bar. To reset the throttle position, choose the "Set Throttle Position" option, which will bring up a window in which you can adjust the throttle position.
13. Ensure that the Power Commander module and the computer are communicating before attempting to reset both the open and closed throttle positions. Press the "Reset" button, and then manually open the throttle all the way, followed by closing the throttle all the way. After completing this procedure, press "OK." The open and closed throttle positions are now reset.
14. Press the arrows next to either of the open throttle position or closed throttle position to reset an individual position. Confirm the adjustment by pressing the "OK" button.
