Change The Fuel Strainer On A Harleydavidson Dyna Wide Glide

Change your Harley's fuel strainer for optimal performance.

To properly maintain your Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide, it is recommended that you replace the fuel strainer (also called the fuel filter) every 25,000-30,000 miles. You can save money by performing this process yourself. You can purchase a new make-specific fuel strainer at an auto parts store or online. Keeping your fuel strainer fresh will help to get the most out of your Harley and will ensure its longevity.

Instructions

1. Remove the fuel tank console by removing the nut underneath the speedometer and the screw above the seat. Lift the console from the frame of the bike by pressing down on the top left part of the fuel tank (this releases the console from the fuel tank).

2. Remove the fuel tank vent tube with your hands and then remove the canopy screws from the top of the fuel tank. You will then be able to lift up the canopy from the fuel tank. Twist it in a counter-clockwise direction and pull it away from the fuel tank to remove the old fuel strainer.

3. Install the new fuel strainer and gasket in the canopy and then twist the canopy in a clockwise direction and slide it back into the fuel tank.

4. Tighten the canopy screws and re-install the vent tube into the tank. Press the fuel tank console back onto the fuel tank and secure it with the screw and bolt that you removed in step 1.
