Using the Xbox HD DVD with a PC is moderately easy.
The Xbox 360 HD DVD player is an accessory that was designed to work with the Xbox 360 game console. This device will also work with personal computers; the device is recognized as an external HD DVD drive that will work on a Windows-based machine via a USB connection.
Instructions
1. Attach a USB cable to your Xbox HD DVD and then connect it to a spare USB port on your PC. The device is "plug and play" and will be recognized by Windows Vista/7 natively.
Windows XP users will need to visit Windows Update to download the drivers; Windows will automatically ask you to confirm the installation of the drivers, and you will be redirected to Windows Update.
2. Download UDF Reader from the VideoHelp website (Windows XP users only) and install it on your computer (see Resources). This will allow Windows XP to recognize HD DVD formats. This step is not necessary for users who have Windows Vista/7 installed.

3. Download a trial version of AnyDVD HD from SlySoft and install it on your computer (see Resources).

4. Put an HD DVD into the drive and launch the AnyDVD program. Your computer system will now recognize HD DVD discs, and the AnyDVD program will automatically recognize the disc and play it in HD format.
Please note that this is a trial version of AnyDVD, and you will be required to purchase the software if you wish to use it after the trial period has expired (see Resources).
