Changing the oil on your 2007 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic is an important procedure to perform as part of your motorcycle's regular maintenance. Changing the oil at regular intervals can help prevent the build-up of sludge and oil deposits in your bike's engine. Doing this maintenance on your own can bring some cost savings compared to taking the bike to a Harley dealer or motorcycle mechanic.
Instructions
1. Turn on your motorcycle and allow it to idle for a few minutes so that the engine oil heats up and becomes more viscous.
2. Park the motorcycle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
3. Locate the oil drain hose that is located at the rear of the engine, near the motorcycle's rear wheel, then position the oil drain pan underneath it.
4. Remove the oil drain hose from its securing clamp using your flat head screwdriver. Pinch the hose with your fingers before you move it over the oil drain pan, then remove the plug at the end of the hose.
5. Release the oil drain hose and allow it to drain oil into the drain pan. Once the flow of oil has stopped, slightly tilt the motorcycle towards you to allow the remnant oil to drain.
6. Pinch the oil drain hose, insert the plug, then fasten it to its securing clip using your flat head screwdriver.
7. Position the oil drain pan underneath the oil filter, located near the oil drain hose clamp.
8. Remove the oil filter using the strap wrench and allow the oil from the filter to drain into the oil drain pan beneath it.
9. Screw the new oil filter into place and hand-tighten it as much as you can.
10. Fill the oil tank on your Harley Classic with four quarts of fresh oil to complete the procedure.
