Youth Hostels In Denmark

Denmark offers several youth hostels across the country.


Denmark is a European country located just north of Germany. Denmark is known for its beautiful scenery, historic castles and churches, art, cinema and literature. There are many hotels located throughout Denmark, but the budget-conscious may want to consider staying in a youth hostel instead. Despite the name, you don't have to be of any certain age in order to stay in a youth hostel, although some may require that you be a member of an international hosteling club before you can book space.


Danhostel Odense City


Odense City is one of the largest cities in Denmark. The city is located on one of Denmark's small islands, Funen. Danhostel Odense City is set in the center of town, within easy walking distance of museums and shopping. The hostel has 39 rooms and come with two, three, four or five beds. All rooms have their own private baths and guests receive their own key cards. You don't need to have a hostel club membership to stay in the Danhostel Odense City, but guests who are not members of Hostelling International will incur additional daily fees. You can also purchase a yearly membership in HI at the hotel. Hostels in Denmark do not allow guests to bring sleeping bags, and linens are not included in the daily rate. Bring your own sheets or rent directly from the hostel.

Sleep In Heaven


Sleep In Heaven is located in Copenhagen, the capital of the country and the largest city in Denmark. The hostel is open 24-hours a day and has no curfew. Sleep In Heaven provides free lockers, free wireless Internet, city maps and tourist information to guests. It also has its own bar, beer garden and pool tables. No hostel membership is required. In 2010, rooms started at 140 Danish krone per night, or $24.

Danhostel Sonderborg-Vollerup Vandrerhjem


Danhostel Sonderborg-Vollerup Vandrerhjem is located near the German border in far southern Denmark. The hostel has 50 rooms, 30 of which have private baths. Ten of these rooms are equipped for guests with wheelchairs. The other 20 rooms use shared baths. The main building of the hostel is housed in an old inn, built in 1850. The main house offers a kitchen, lounge and dining room. Danhostel Sonderborg-Vollerup is especially suited for families, as it offers a sports area, petanque, a playground, table tennis and a miniature golf course. Guests can also play basketball, handball, volleyball or soccer, jump on the trampoline, fish and bike. A library, games room and tour desk are offered on-site, along with bicycle rentals. The hostel is also within 3 kilometers of a swimming pool and one kilometer from a beach. The hostel features a small petting farm as well, with goats, rabbits, birds, chickens and coatis.
