The iPhone features a default "3G" icon that displays when your device has an active 3G cellular data connection. The iPhone does not allow you to change this 3G notification icon without jailbreaking your device. Jailbroken iPhones can download a free application called 3G Browser Icons from the Cydia store. When used in combination with the WinterBoard application, you can change the 3G notification icon on your iPhone. Jailbreaking your iPhone will void your device's warranty.
Instructions
1. Tap the "Cydia" icon on your jailbroken iPhone.
2. Tap the "Search" option.
3. Enter "WinterBoard" in the search bar and select the "WinterBoard" application.
4. Tap the "Install" icon.
5. Tap the "Confirm" icon.
6. Tap the "Respring" button to restart your iPhone.
7. Tap the "Cydia" icon.
8. Select the "Search" icon.
9. Enter "3G Browser Icons" in the search bar and select the "3G Browser Icons" application.
10. Tap the "Install" button.
11. Tap the "Confirm" button.
12. Press the Home button on your iPhone.
13. Tap the "Settings" icon.
14. Select the "WinterBoard" icon.
15. Tap the "Select Themes" option.
16. Tap any of the 3G icons to change the 3G notification icon on your device.
17.Tap the "WinterBoard" button.
18. Tap the "Respring" button. Your iPhone will reboot and display the selected 3G icon when you have an active 3G cellular data connection.
