Troubleshoot A Radeon 3450 Hd

The Radeon X3450 HD is part of the 3400 video card series by AMD. It features high-definition 1080p video playback with a resolution up to 2560x1600. The X3450 also supports DirectX 10.1 for top-of-the-line video game performance. The card uses efficiency-based technology allowing the card to run cool and quiet while delivering the same quality performance. Like any other video card, problems may occur with the software or hardware itself. Using troubleshooting methods may help solve the problem unless it relates to motherboard incompatibility.

Instructions

1. Check your motherboard manual and make sure your computer is compatible with PCI-Express technology. If your motherboard does not have a PCI-Express slot, the Radeon X3450 will not work. Next, verify your monitor output is the correct output with the Radeon X3450. If your computer monitor does not use DVI outputs, you will need to purchase an adapter such as VGA or HDMI to DVI.

2. Uninstall and install the latest drivers. Click on the "start" button at the bottom left hand corner of your computer tool bar. Select "My Computer." Next, right click anywhere on the "My Computer" window and select "Properties." On the system properties window, select "Device Manager." Click the "+" sign next to "Display Adapters." Right click on the "Radeon X3450 HD" icon and select "Properties." Click on the "Drivers" tab and press the "Uninstall Drivers" button.

3. Go to the AMD website (see Resources). Enter your operating system and video card model X3450 HD and search for the correct drivers. Download the drivers to your hard drive and double click on the setup icon. Follow the steps until completion to finish installing the correct X3450 HD drivers. Next, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

4. Right click on your desktop and select "Personalize," then select "Display Settings" to adjust your display settings. Make sure the video card displayed as the primary card reads back as the X3450 HD. Move the slider up and down to adjust the resolution to your personal preference. Moving the slider right will increase the resolution and moving the slider left will decrease the resolution. For the best appearance, select the highest bit resolution under the color option. After making your adjustments, select "Apply" then "OK."
