883 Sportster Specs

The Harley-Davidson Sportster is a range of motorcycles that have been manufactured since 1957 and continue to be produced as of 2010. Due to its engine displacement, the 883 Sportster represents the entry-level model of the Sportster range. The 2011 range consists of one trim: the Sportster SuperLow.


Dimensions and Exterior


The 2011 Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster is 86.1 inches in length, 31 degrees in rake, 5.7 inches in trail, 3.8 inches in ground clearance and 59.3 inches in wheelbase. It has a wet weight of 563 lbs. which assumes a full fuel tank of 4.5 gallons. The exterior is fitted with a belt guard, exterior covers and guards, front and rear steel fenders, rubber hand grips, a head cover, a master cylinder cover, an air cleaner cover, folding rear-view mirrors and a kick stand.


Engine


The 2011 883 Sporster is equipped with an air-cooled, four-stroke, two cylinder fuel injection engine with four valves per cylinder in overhead valve (OHV) pushrod configuration. A bore and stroke of 3 and 3.81 inches coupled with a compression ratio of 8.91:1 produces an engine displacement of 883.3 cubic centimeters (cc), an engine displacement-to-weight ratio of 1.65:1 and a maximum torque of 55 pounds-feet at 3,500 rpm. The engine is controlled by a chain and belt-driven five-speed manual transmission.


Chassis


The front of the steel frame is fitted with an 18-inch aluminum wheel, a Dunlop 120/70 ZR18 tire, telescopic fork suspension and two caliper pistons. The rear is fitted with a 17-inch aluminum wheel, a Dunlop 150/60 ZR17 tire, twin-sided steel swing arm suspension, a single caliper piston and two shock absorbers. Hydraulic disc brakes are fitted throughout.
