Remove The Battery On 2003 Harley Davidson Dyna Low Rider

Remove the Battery on 2003 Harley Davidson Dyna Low Rider

Harley-Davidson motorcycles are fairly similar through the line-up, with a few smaller details spelling the differences between models. Unlike the Softail and Touring models, a 2003 Dyna Low Rider houses its battery in a metal box below the right side of the rider's seat. The Dyna's frame and seat, however, prevent the battery box lid from being removed, leaving many Dyna owners dismayed at the thought of a dead battery. Battery removal, however, is assisted by a "jack" bolt that pivots the battery box away from the frame, allowing the battery to be disconnected and removed with ease.

Instructions

1. Unscrew the seat bolt from the rear fender using a Torx driver.

2. Push down on the front of the seat, and pull it toward the rear fender until it can be removed completely from the motorcycle.

3. Unscrew the pair of bolts from the top of the battery box cover using a Torx driver. Pull the cover off of the battery box.

4. Look for the jack bolt behind the battery box on the right side of the frame. Twist the bolt counterclockwise with a socket wrench to lower the battery box away from the frame.

5. Unscrew the negative lead from the battery's negative terminal using a Phillips screwdriver. Set the negative lead away from the battery and the motorcycle's frame. Unscrew the positive lead from the battery's positive terminal using a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the positive lead away from the battery.

6. Pull the battery out of the battery box.
