2000 Harley Davidson Fat Boy Specs

The Harley Davidson Fat Boy is a cruiser motorcycle introduced to riders in 1990. It continues to be offered today. Contributing to its cruiser style is a long wheelbase, chrome trim, low seat height and a large engine. Like many of Harley's cruisers, it is equipped with their proprietary "Softail" suspension, which uses a set of dual adjustable rear shocks in its suspension design.


Engine and Drivetrain


Powering the 2000 Fat Boy is a 1449 cc two-cylinder, four-stroke engine. The engine's cylinder layout is a "V" design. The total amount of power generated is 63 hp at 3,500 rpm. It generates 78.2 foot-pounds of torque at 3,500 rpm. The engine is air-cooled, uses an electrical key-based ignition system and it has a double-row chain-based drivetrain. The 2000 Fat Boy achieves fuel efficiency of 50-mpg highway and 42 mpg city.


Size and Weight


The 2000 Fat Boy carries a weight of 705.5 pounds when its 5-gallon fuel tank is empty. The cruiser-style bike has a relatively long wheelbase of 64.5 inches. Its low seat height of 25.5 inches is another signature characteristic that Harley assigns to its cruiser motorcycles. It has an overall length of 94.3 inches and offers 5.1 inches of ground clearance.


Performance Specifications


The 63-hp engine in the 2000 Fat Boy is capable of taking riders to a maximum speed of 106 mph. The relatively high torque levels help push it from 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Braking power is provided by a single disc brake mounted at the rear of the motorcycle's frame.
