Record your HDTV programming.
To record high definition television, you need to have an HD DVR on hand. This gives you the ability to record live programming even when you are not at home. Once recorded, the files are stored on an internal hard drive, allowing you to watch the recorded HDTV shows whenever you want and as many times as you want. After you are finished with the HD programming, you can delete it at any time from the DVR.
Instructions
1. Contact your cable or satellite service provider if you want to upgrade your package to include a DVR. If you don't have HD programming, upgrade to the HD programming, too. Typically the HD package costs around $10 a month extra.
2. Connect the HDMI cable into the "Out" port on the HD DVR (usually the DVR acts as your receiver also).
3. Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into one of the HDMI ports on your HDTV.
4. Power on the HD DVR and the HDTV. Press the "Input" button and select "HDMI." Use the HD DVR remote control to scroll through the programs on the HD stations. Once you find a show you want to record, press the "Record" button and the HD DVR will record in HD. If you want to record a program that has yet to come on, press the "Guide" button and search through all the shows coming up in the near future. Select the show and push the "Record" button.
