Editing high-definition (HD) PC videos requires at least a 2-gigabyte processor and 2 gigabytes of RAM. These technical requirements allow proper playback of the videos while being edited. Otherwise, the editing monitor won't be able to play the HD videos properly. This can result in the screen showing no video or a frozen clip while the sound is playing; the video stopping every few seconds; or the audio and video not being in sync.
Instructions
1. Select a video editing program that is capable of editing HD videos. Most new releases of video editing programs can accommodate the use of HD videos. Older versions may need available plug-ins or software updates for them to recognize HD videos.
2. Create an editing project in your video editing software. Choose an applicable project name, according to your preferences.
3. Import your HD PC videos to your editing project's "Import" bin. Depending on the editing program you use, the "Import" function can be found under the "File" menu or it can be accessed directly from the "Import" bin found in your editing interface.
You may have to import other media files you need, such as music, sound effects, photos and graphics.
4. Drag your audio and video elements from the "Import" bin to the "Editing timeline" to start assembling them, in preparation for the actual editing. Videos and graphics can be placed on any of the timeline's available video tracks. Sound effects, music and other audio elements can be placed on any of the timeline's audio tracks, located just below the video tracks.
During assembly, know use the primary editing tools that allow you to cut, reorder and copy-paste video and audio clips. Arrange all the elements according to how you want them to appear in your final video.
5. Start editing and polishing the assembled audio and video files using the program's available editing tools. During the editing process, it is also recommended to know create transitions and simple visual effects. Knowing make titles and supers (texts placed over the video) is also useful, even to amateur editors.
6. Click the "Render" button from your editing software to finalize the video and audio elements in your "Editing timeline." After rendering, go to the "File" menu and select "Export" to begin the exporting process. This may take a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the length of your edited video. The technical specifications of your computer, along with the file size and type of video effects you place in your edited video, affect the speed of the exporting process.
