Goodwill Industries of San Diego County
Goodwill Industries of San Diego County does not conduct traditional fundraising; the organization gains all of its revenue from the sale of donated items and reuse and recycling activities. It uses its revenue to help San Diegans with disabilities or other barriers to employment get trained for the work force. Among the donations accepted by Goodwill Industries of San Diego County are clothing, computers and furniture. Most donations must be dropped off, but furniture donations are eligible for free pick-up. Both wooden and upholstered furniture is accepted.
Jewish Family Service
Jewish Family Service, in operation since 1918, is an organization that offers more than 50 programs to people of all faiths in San Diego. Among the services offered are counseling and family support, refugee resettlement and older adult services. Donations to Jewish Family service are tax deductible and the proceeds of donations go towards the funding of all of the organization's programs. Furniture donations can be picked up; scheduling can be done over the phone or through the organization's website. Gently used furniture is accepted, including sofas, framed art, chairs and appliances.
San Diego Rescue Mission
San Diego Rescue Mission is a Christian-based charity that offers programs for men, women and children. An emergency shelter is available for women and children, and 12-month rehabilitation programs are offered for adult men and women. San Diego Rescue Mission also collects food and distributes it to those in need at no charge. Donated furniture is given to clients or sold in one of the organization's thrift stores. Gently used furniture is accepted; San Diego Rescue Mission allows donation pick-ups to be scheduled over the phone or through its website.
The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army provides a number of social services to San Diego County residents, including programs that assist pregnant teens, the homeless and people struggling with drug addiction.
