Coachmen Ultra Light Specifications

Coachmen ultra light trailers provide traveling abodes.


Coachmen was founded in 1964 by Claude, Keith and Tom Corson; the company has grown into a Fortune 500 company. Its 2011 lineup of ultra-light travel trailers consists of the Freedom Express and Apex group of travel trailers. Both lines of travel trailer match various size requirements for RV enthusiasts.


Dimensions


The longest 2011-model Freedom Express travel trailer measures 35 feet 7 inches for the 310BHDS; the trailer with the smallest length is the 242RBS at 27 feet 9 inches.


The tallest trailers for this model are the 310BHDS, 296REDS and the 270FLDS at 10 feet 9 inches; the shortest trailers are the 242RBS, 280RLS, 290BHS and the 291QBS at 10 feet 3 inches tall.


Apex trailers have a maximum length of 26 feet 9 inches for the 26BHS and a minimum length of 17 feet 6 inches for the 17FB. All Apex trailers are 7 feet 6 inches wide and 8 feet 6 inches tall.


Water and Weights


Coachmen Freedom Express trailers in 2011 hold a maximum of 49 gallons of fresh water, 32 gallons of black water and 34 gallons of gray water. They have a hitch weight ranging from 442 lbs. for the 242RBS, to 920 lbs for the 270FLDS. Cargo capacity for these models start at 1,170 lbs. for the 295RLDS and max out at 3.050 lbs for the 296REDS. Apex trailers have a maximum capacity of 30 gallons for black water, gray water and fresh water storage.


Hitch weight for Coachmen trailers range from 342 lbs. for the 18BH to 500 lbs. for the 26BHS. Minimum cargo capacity for an Apex model is 870 lbs. for the 18BH and the maximum capacity is 3,455 lbs. for the 24RBD.


Exterior and Interior


2011-model Coachmen Freedom Express and Apex trailers have laminated, vacuum-bonded sidewalls with framing made of aluminum. Both models have four stabilizer jacks and lights for the patio or porch. Apex models have an exterior surface made of fiberglass, while Freedom Express models feature I-beam chassis construction.


The interior of Freedom express trailers have rolled goods flooring made by BeauFlor, while Apex trailers utilize Armstrong linoleum flooring. Apex trailers have solid wood drawers, two-tone cabinet doors made of glazed maple and hardwood door frames. Freedom Express trailers have mortise and tenon cabinet door frames made of hardwood and decor that includes Brazilian cherry woodgrain.


Features


Apex and Freedom Express bathrooms in 2011 feature a foot-flush toilet, medicine cabinet and powered vents. Apex models have a shower surround while Freedom Express models use a designer tub surround. Both types of trailer models have 55-amp power source with a furnace and two 20-pound propane tanks. Freedom Express trailers include a microwave and a powered range hood with light. Apex trailers include single-door or double-door fridges, a two-burner cook-top or three-burner slide-in stove and an illuminated and powered range hood vent.
