Pet Friendly Hotels In Smithfield North Carolina

There are relatively few pet-friendly hotels in Smithfield, N.C.


The town of Smithfield, N.C., is about 30 miles east of Raleigh in Johnston County. Though its population is relatively small, at 11,000 residents, the town's website says Smithfield hosts a comparatively large hotel and tourism industry because of its location on the heavily traveled Interstate 95 corridor that stretches from Maine to Florida. A limited number of hotels in Smithfield offer pet-friendly lodging.


Becky's Log Cabin Motel


Becky's Log Cabin Motel is on U.S. 70 along Smithfield's Business Route, about one-half mile east from Interstate 95. According to the AAA's "Traveling with Your Pet, The AAA Pet Book," amenities include an on-site restaurant, outdoor pool, nonsmoking rooms and mini-refrigerators upon request. As of March 2010, Becky's Log Cabin Motel charged a $5 per pet, per room fee. Though the motel has 60 rooms, the number of pet-designated rooms is restricted.

Howard Johnson Express Inn Smithfield


The Howard Johnson Express Inn Smithfield offers several amenities includes a free continental breakfast, free complimentary weekday newspaper, outdoor pool, children's playground, RV parking, free wireless Internet access and mini-refrigerators in some rooms. The hotel also has handicapped accessible rooms and a staffed front desk 24 hours a day. Howard Johnson Express Inn Smithfield participates in Howard Johnson's national Wags to Whiskers campaign. As of March 2010, the hotel charged a $10 per pet, per night fee for animals weighing up to 25 pounds. A reduced fee of $5 per pet, per night is available for pets weighing 5 pounds or less. Pets must be supervised at all times and are restricted to designated areas.

The Jameson Inn of Smithfield has 40 rooms, several of which are handicapped accessible. According to its website, the hotel's amenities include a complimentary breakfast, complimentary weekday newspaper, on-site fitness center, swimming pool and free wireless Internet access. Rooms with a microwave, a refrigerator and a coffee maker are available at a higher rate. The Jameson Inn is situated near the Ava Gardner Museum, Carolina Outlet Center and Downtown Smithfield Arts Walk.


As of March 2010, the Jameson Inn of Smithfield accepted pets weighing 20 pounds or less for $15 per night. Pets must be supervised at all times and may not be left unattended in a room. Pets also be on a leash when in public areas of the hotel, including the designated pet exercise area. Pets are banned from the lobby and breakfast areas.

Super 8 Motel of Smithfield


The Super 8 of Smithfield is located on the U.S. 70 Business Route through Smithfield. Amenities include an indoor heated pool, business center with free wireless Internet access, free continental breakfast, guest laundry room and in-room refrigerators, microwaves and coffee makers. According to its website, the Super 8 is near several Smithfield attractions including the Carolina Premium Outlets, Sheltons Harley-Davidson Mall Shop and the Ava Gardner Museum.


AAA states that the Super 8 of Smithfield only accepts pets weighing less than 20 pounds. As of 2010, the hotel charged $10 daily per pet per room. Pets must be supervised at all times.
