Saudi Arabia is the largest country on the Arabian Peninsula.


In Saudi Arabia, the Department of Medical Education has been established to improve the standards of medical education around the country. Here is a list of five prominent medical schools in Saudi Arabia.


King Abdul Aziz University, Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences


The King Abdul Aziz University is located in Jeddah, the second-largest city in Saudi Arabia. Primarily serving western Saudi Arabia, the university was established in 1968 and is named for the first king of Saudi Arabia. (King Abdul Aziz established Saudi Arabia in 1902.) It is a government school, as opposed to one of the country's few private schools. The university offers advanced degrees in Health Services, Hospital Management, Genomic Medical Research, Gastroenterology and Neurology.

King Faisal University, College of Medicine


King Faisal University (KFU), another government school, was established in 1975 and offers graduate and post-graduate degrees to medical students. KFU resulted from the combination of four schools: the College of Foods & Agricultural Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Resources, the College of Medicine & Medical Sciences and the College of Architecture & Planning. The university's degree programs include Veterinary Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Biomedical Science.

King Khalid University, College of Medicine and Medical Sciences


King Khalid University (KKU) is a newer school, established in 1999. KKU is located in what is considered to be the most beautiful city in the Middle East, Abha. This public university also features online classes and separate colleges for men and women. KKU's bachelor's degree programs include Pharmacy, Medical Technology and Medical Research.
