Remove the Battery from a Yamaha VMax Motorcycle
Yamaha's powerful VMax motorcycle is a complex machine, capable of producing tremendous power with its V-4 motor. While these motorcycles are fairly dependable, living with a VMax takes a considerable amount of dedication when it comes to maintenance. The simple task of removing the VMax's battery is a small chore, since the pivoting rider's seat and the ignition coils must be removed first. Basic hand tools are all that are needed to accomplish the task, which is much easier to finish than it would appear.
Instructions
1. Find the levers concealed near the rear shock absorbers and push them forward to unlock the seat. Lift the seat upward until it locks into its uppermost position.
2. Use a 10 mm socket and a socket wrench to unscrew the bolts that secure the seat to its pivot. Pull the seat off of the motorcycle to reveal the battery.
3. Use a 10 mm socket and a socket wrench to unscrew the bolts that secure the ignition coils over the battery tray. Lift the ignition coils off of the battery tray and set them aside.
4. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the black and red wire leads from the battery's terminal. Unscrew the black lead first, followed by the red lead.
5. Pull the battery strap's hook off of the battery tray's tab. Lift the battery out of the motorcycle.
