Online Motorcycle Mechanic Schools

Several online schools offer motorcycle mechanic training.


Motorcycle Mechanics, also known as Motorcycle Repair Technicians, work in an exciting field that may also include snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and some marine vessels. Motorcycle mechanics service, repair and troubleshoot all makes of motorcycles from Honda to Harley-Davidson, using comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, suspension, engines, brakes, frames and ignition to diagnose problems and keep vehicles in good working condition. Motorcycle mechanics also assemble new bikes, customize existing bikes and re-design engines. Careers in motorcycle repair can range from being the sole proprietor of an independent business to working in a repair shop, dealership or racing pit crew.

Ashworth College offers an online 12-month Motorcycle Repair Career Diploma program. Ashworth's training includes curriculum on two- and four-stroke motorcycle engines, diagnostics and troubleshooting, suspension, frame, drive train, brakes and steering, clutches, lights and electrical systems and routine repair and maintenance. Graduates of Ashworth's certificate program are prepared to start their own business in motorcycle repair or work for employers in the field. Ashworth College is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), and has special considerations for working with members of the military.

Penn Foster Career School


Penn Foster Career School offers a self-paced, online training course culminating in a Motorcycle Repair Technician certification. Penn Foster's curriculum includes comprehensive lessons in motorcycle engines, electrical circuitry, ignition, brakes and wheel assemblies, tires, frames, steering and general maintenance and repair. Training can be completed in eight months. Penn Foster's certificate program is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), and prepares graduates for a career working independently or for vehicle repair shops and dealers.

ICS Canada


ICS Canada offers an online Motorcycle Repair course that also includes all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and snowmobiles. ICS Canada's curriculum is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), the same accrediting agency used by United States-based online schools. ICS's curriculum is comprehensive. It includes instruction in motorcycle repair, maintenance and inspection, brakes and steering, engine, electrical and ignition systems, frames, suspension and wheel assemblies. All major makes of motorcycle are included in ICS's training, which can be completed in nine months and prepares graduates for careers as independent business owners or repair-shop technicians. ICS's tuition includes books, study materials, tools and access to online support.
