Harley Davidson 883 Specs

Harley-Davidson motorcycles are perfect for cruising the countryside.


The 2010 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 comes in two models: the 883 Low and the 883 Iron. The 2010 MSRP on the Sportster 883 Low is $6,999. The 2010 MSRP on the Sportster 883 Iron is $7,999. Features on the 883 Low include low suspension, a staggered Shorty exhaust and a rubber-mounted 883cc engine; the 883 Iron also features the rubber-mounted 883cc engine. The 883 Iron has drag-style handlebars, a side-mounted license plate and a chopped rear fender.


Dimensions


The 883 Low has a length of 89.1 inches. The 883 Iron is just a little smaller, measuring 85.8 inches. Both models have a 3.9-inch ground clearance and a 60-inch wheel base. Each bike can hold 3.3 gallons of gas and holds 2.8 quarts of oil. The Low has a dry weight of 563 pounds and the Iron's dry weight is 548 pounds. Both models have 13-inch front and rear wheel rims.


Powertrain


Each of the models features the Harley-Davidson air-cooled Evolution engine. Both have an engine torque of 55 foot-pounds at 3,500 revolutions per minute. The 883 Low and the 883 Iron both have electronic sequential port fuel injection. Both models get 45 mpg in the city and 60 mpg on the highway. Both the Low and Iron have a five-speed transmission. Both models have pushrod-operated overhead valves with hydraulic, self-adjusting lifters. There are two valves per cylinder. For each bike the bore x stroke is 3 inches x 3.81 inches and the compression ratio is 8.9:1. The Iron and Low have dual-piston front brakes and single-piston rear brakes.


Chassis


Each 883 model has a tubular Mild steel frame with circular sections and cast junctions. The swingarms on both models are Mild steel rectangular tube sections with stamped junctions. The front forks for the Iron and Low measure 39 millimeters. The rear shocks are coil-over, preload dual-adjustable on both bikes.


Gauges


The Iron and Low feature gauges mounted to the handlebars. Gauges include a speedometer with an odometer, a low-fuel light and a low oil pressure light. Both the 883 Low and the 883 Iron have high and low beam lights and self-cancelling turn signals.


Available Colors


The 2010 883 Low has several color options: Vivid Black, Scarlet Red, Flame Blue Pearl and Brilliant Silver Pearl. The 2010 883 Iron is available only in Black Denim or Brilliant Silver Denim.
