Put a Picture As a Background on My Computer
If you're tired of looking at the limited selection of desktop backgrounds that came with your operating system, you can choose any saved picture from your computer and set it as your new background. You can play around with the display settings and change the background color surrounding a centered desktop picture. If you're a Mac or Windows 7 user, select multiple pictures and set the desktop to change backgrounds after a certain time or create a slideshow.
Instructions
Windows 7, Vista and XP
1. Click "Start," then select "My Pictures."
2. Select the picture you want as your background.
3. Click "Set as Desktop Background" located under Picture Tasks or right-click the picture and select "Set as Desktop Background."
Microsoft Office
4. Click the "Start" menu, move the cursor to "All Programs" and select "Microsoft Office."
5. Move the cursor to "Microsoft Office Tools." Select "Microsoft Office Picture Manager."
6. Select the shortcut to the folder containing the image you want in the "Picture Shortcuts" pane.
7. Click "Add Picture Shortcut" if you don't already have a shortcut for the picture you want. Browse the folders until you find the one with that picture, then click "Add" to create the shortcut.
8. Find the picture you want in the preview pane and right-click to select it. Click "Set as Desktop Background."
Mac OS X 10.0 to 10.6
9. Click the Apple image in the upper left corner to open the Apple menu. Select "System Preferences."
10. Select "Desktop and Screen Saver." Click the "Desktop" tab.
11. Click "Library" in the left pane to choose an image from your iPhoto Library. Alternatively, click "Choose Folder" then move the cursor over to the folder that has the image you want and click "Choose."
12. Select the image you want from those listed in the right pane to set that image as your new desktop picture.
