As long as there have been computers, users have dreamed of getting bigger and bigger displays to work on. While monitors have gotten bigger, there hasn't been a huge push for the type of size that some users want. But when high-definition television screens came on the scene, they came with various video inputs that allow you to finally have the giant screen you always wanted.
Instructions
TV With a VGA Input
1. Place one end of the VGA cable into the "Monitor out" VGA port on the back of the computer. Place the other end into the VGA input on the television.
2. Turn on the television and select the VGA input as the input that is currently displaying on the screen. Follow the instructions in the user manual of your television to change display inputs.
3. Turn on the computer. The television should now act as the computer monitor.
TV Without VGA Input
4. Connect the component cables to a component cable input on the back of the television. Connect the other end to the component output on the PC converter box.
5. Connect the VGA cable to the VGA input on the converter box. Connect the other ent to the VGA output on your computer.
6. Plug the power cord of the converter box into a power source. Some converter boxes require an outlet, and some will need to draw power from your computer via a USB port.
7. Turn the computer, the converter box, and the television on. Select the component display on your television that you plugged the component wire into. Follow the instructions that came with your television regarding choosing video inputs. The television should now be the computer monitor.
