Be prepared for most anything on your wedding day.
You want your wedding day to be perfect. But accidents do happen. Although you can't decrease the odds of something going wrong, you can definitely minimize the chance that a minor uh-oh will turn into something that ruins the day.
Emergency Kit for the Bride
Pack a hanging toiletry bag or large makeup bag with clear compartments with items that the bride may need on her wedding day. Most of these items can be found in travel sizes at a local drug store. The mother or maid of honor should keep track of this emergency kit.
The bride's emergency kit should include items such as makeup (lipstick, concealer, mascara, blotting papers), straws (for sipping water before the ceremony), baby wipes, cotton-tipped swabs, clear bandages, breath mints, toothpicks, nail polish (clear as well as the bride's shade), nail file, deodorant, an extra pair of hosiery, fragrance, hairspray, comb, brush, bobby pins, static-cling spray, lint roller, antacid, eyedrops (redness reducing), contact lens solution, safety pins, sewing kit, small pair of scissors, superglue (great for repairing a broken heel), tampons, tissues, toothbrush and toothpaste, tweezers, double-sided fabric tape (just in case a hem slips), aspirin (or other pain reliever), earring backs, baby powder (useful for getting out lipstick and spills on a white dress) and anything else that might be useful.
Emergency Kit for the Groom
Pack a small toiletry bag with the items that the groom may need on the wedding day. The groom's father or best man should be the one to keep track of this emergency kit.
The groom's emergency kit should include items such as breath mints, antacid, aspirin (or other pain reliever), cologne, brush, comb, dental floss, deodorant, lint roller, extra pair of socks, extra pair of shoelaces, hair gel, handkerchief, lip balm, contact lens solution, razor, shaving cream, toothbrush and toothpaste, and anything else that might be useful.
What to Bring to the Ceremony
Pack up key items to be brought to the ceremony. Some typical items to bring to the ceremony include the wedding day emergency kits, copy of the vows, programs, wedding rings, ring bearer's pillow, marriage license, guest book and pen, unity candle, handkerchiefs, family bible, extra copy of the shot list for the photographer, list of vendors' contact information, schedule of events, boutonnieres, bouquets, corsages and anything that will be handed out to the guests.
What to Bring to the Reception
Pack up key items to be brought to the reception. Some typical items to bring to the reception include the wedding day emergency kits, guest book and pen, box for gift envelopes, gratuities for vendors (already labeled and in individual envelopes), tossing garter, tossing bouquet, cake-cutting knife, toasting glasses, personalized cocktail napkins, guest favors, seating cards, table numbers, place cards, menus, list of vendors' contact information, extra copies of the shot list for the photographer, do-not-play list for musicians or deejay, extra copies of the schedule, extra pair of shoes for the bride to put under her chair, a copy of any DVD or video that you're showing, an extra CD of the first dance song and a MP3 player if you are providing the music.
