Specifications On A 2006 Heritage Softail Harley Davidson

2006 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail is a favorite of Harley enthusiasts.

Harley-Davidson's series of Softail (FL) models recreate the clean, timeless look of a rigid-mounted engine in a hardtail frame, circa 1951, using the sophisticated combination of hidden suspension and a modern V-Twin engine. The Heritage Softail was originally introduced in 1987, then discontinued in1990, due to the overwhelming popularity of its glamorous fully dressed sibling, the Heritage Softail Classic. In 2006, the company re-introduced the Heritage Softail, the most affordable member of the Softail family. Defined by its classic style and uncluttered simplicity, it is a favorite of Harley purists.

Engine and Fuel Economy

The 2006 Heritage Softail is available in two fuel systems; FLST with carburetor, and FLSTI with Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI). Both have a silver powder-coated rigid-mounted and counterbalanced Twin Cam 88 cubic-inch (1,450 cc), V-Twin, air-cooled engine. With a five-gallon fuel tank, fuel economy is 48 highway miles per gallon for both versions, and 41 city mpg for the FLST and 43 mpg for the FLSTI.

Exhaust, Styling and Convenience

With hardtail styling, hidden horizontal rear shocks, black horseshoe 3.5-gallon oil tank, laced steel wheels, ultra-low rider seat height of 25.5 inches laden with a 180 lb rider, and quick detachable passenger pillion seat, the 2006 Heritage Softail is a favorite of Harley enthusiasts for its style and versatility. This bike easily morphs into a two-up cruiser, functional tourer with the addition of optional leather saddlebags, and solo seat within seconds, exposing the curvy rear fender.

Harley-Davidson designed the Heritage Softail with typical FL front end, fat front forks, and wrap-around FL rear fender. Rider floorboards with effortless heel toe shift are comfortable and ensure a stable riding experience. The 2006 Heritage Softail has substantial chrome accents provided by heads and engine parts, and staggered shorty dual exhaust.

Paint Colors

There are four paint color options available for the 2006 Heritage Softail: vivid black, black cherry, fire red pearl, and deep cobalt. All feature a machete graphic design.

Instrument Panel

The motorcycle instrument panel features electronic speedometer, odometer, resettable tripmeter, and diagnostic readout. Indicator lamps warn of low oil pressure and feature engine diagnostics, neutral transmission gear, and turn signals.
