Harley Davidson 2006 Night Train Specs

The Harley-Davidson Night Train is a trim of the softail line of cruiser motorcycles that have been manufactured since 1984. The Night Train model has a longer and lower ride than the base-model softail cruiser. Because of the Night Train's relatively high engine displacement, it is aimed at those with previous experience in heavy cruisers.

Dimensions and Bodywork

The 2006 Night Train is 95 inches in length, with 6 inches of ground clearance, 5 inches in trail, 32 degrees in rake and a wheelbase of 66.9 inches. It has a wet weight of 682 lbs., which includes a full fuel tank of 5 gallons. The exterior is equipped with an air cleaner cover, belt guard, exterior covers and guards, front and rear steel fenders, a rear fender rail, folding rear-view mirrors, a side cover, a head cover and a kick stand.

Engine and Transmission

The 2006 Harley-Davidson Night Train is equipped with an air-cooled, four-stroke, two-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder in an overhead valves configuration. A bore and stroke of 3.75 and 4 inches, coupled with a compression ratio of 8.91:1, produces an engine displacement of 1442.1 cc, which is an engine displacement-to-weight ratio of 2.22:1 and a maximum torque of 85 ft.-lbs. at 3,000 rpm. A single 40 mm carburetor fuels the electrically started engine. The bike has a chain- and belt-driven five-speed manual transmission.

Chassis

The steel frame of the 2006 Night Train is equipped with 11.5-inch disc brakes throughout. The front is fitted with a 21-inch aluminum wheel, a Dunlop MH90-21 54H tire, four caliper pistons and telescopic fork suspension. The rear is fitted with a 17-inch aluminum wheel, a Dunlop 200/55 R17 78V tire, two shock absorbers and steel twin-sided swing arm suspension.
