Jazz up your car's interior by dyeing the vinyl seat covers.
The interior seats of many cars are made of vinyl. The most common colors of vinyl seats are black, gray, tan, beige, white and red. If you're tired of the same old color in your car or perhaps the seats have lost some color due to sun bleaching and age, you can easily dye the vinyl. Seat covers are even easier to dye because they can be removed from the seat. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Purchase a dye paint in spray form. It will say on the bottle whether its for use on leather, carpet or vinyl. This can be purchased from an auto supply shop or online.
2. Unzip the seat covers from each seat you'd like to dye.
3. Lay out several large garbage bags on the floor of a well-ventilated area. Lay the seat cover--opened with inside facing down--directly on top of the garbage bags.
4. Shake the can of spray paint thoroughly.
5. Spray the entire seat cover with a steady stream of paint. Start at the bottom of the cover and work your way up, spraying evenly throughout the cover. Allow the cover one hour to dry. Add a second coat if necessary.
6. Repeat the process with the rest of the seat covers that you'd like to dye. When all seat covers are thoroughly dried, place them back onto their respective seat and zip them back up.
