Requirements For A Visa Signature Card

Requirements for a Visa Signature Card

The Visa Signature Card offers additional benefits not available through a regular Visa card. Besides its cool black design, it has no pre-set spending limit, complimentary 24/7 concierge service, and offers many other perks. There are some very specific requirements for obtaining one.

Application

You may apply online or through paper applications. Visa.com has links to all institutions offering the Visa Signature, so you know you are entering sensitive information on a legitimate site. Or you may apply directly through banking centers at banks which offer the Visa Signature.

Personal information

To apply, you will need your name, your social security number, date of birth, residential address (most institutions require a U.S. residential address and do not allow post office boxes), length of stay at address, and your telephone number. If you are at a banking center, you will need identification cards showing your identity (often two IDs are required).

More personal information

Mother's maiden name and an email address are often required for for security purposes.

Income information

In addition, you will need to disclose the source(s) of your income and the amount of your income (i.e. your employment information). You will be asked your annual household income and your monthly rent or mortgage payment if applicable. This information is used to determine your credit limit. (While there is no pre-set spending limit, you are assigned an initial limit past which every transaction will be subject to independent approval.) You may be asked whether you hold checking or saving accounts with that institution. Income (and debt to income ratio) information is generally used to determine your credit limit. While Visa Signature's launch was targeted directly at America's "new affluent," i.e. U.S. households with more than $125,000 or more in annual income, individuals with less income but excellent credit have been approved.

Certification

Lastly, you will authorize by clicking online or signing on paper applications to certify the truth of your information. Your application then is submitted to be reviewed to be granted or denied based on your credit history. While banks generally do not disclose the lowest credit score at which they will approve an application, according to creditboards.com, the lowest credit score to receive a Chase Visa Signature within the past year (2009) was 683 and the lowest credit score to receive a Bank of America Visa Signature card was 703.

Set The Gear Shift Lever On A Motorcycle

The motorcycle gear shift lever is somewhat of a mystery to most people who have never ridden a bike. You can set this lever at a different height by loosening the bolt at the base of the lever and setting it to a comfortable range. They do make adjustable gear levers which have two bolts for raising or lowering the lever. For the most part, you only want to adjust the lever as far as this will allow, otherwise you are looking at a lot of work, and really, not that much gain. It is easier to get used to the position of the lever, than try and change it. Read on to learn set a gear shift lever on a motorcycle.

Instructions

1. Get on your bike so you are in a comfortable riding position.

2. Ask someone to hold the bike or prop it up so you can test your position in the full riding stance.

3. Tap the bike with your left foot where you want the lever to be. Take note of the position, and if possible mark this with an erasable marker or chalk. Have someone else mark it if you can.

4. Loosen the bottom bolt that attaches the lever to the clutch shaft. Some levers will also have springs that keep the lever in the right position. You will have to adjust these mechanisms so they raise or lower the lever.

5. Loosen or tighten the bolts in the spring mechanism. This will adjust the height of the lever. If you want to replace the lever, just remove the bolt at the base, and carefully wedge the lever off with a screwdriver or a wood dowel to reduce damage and scratches to the bike itself. Then replace with the lever you want.

Import A Brandnew Harley Into Australia

Import your Harley into Australia using a respected shipping company.

Importing a brand-new Harley-Davidson from the United States--or nearly any other country, for that matter--to Australia can be done as long as the bike meets Australia's road safety regulations, Australian Design Rules and various importation standards. Shipping a Harley is a very expensive process. It requires several steps that must be taken in order for the bike to actually enter the country. Make sure that you have met all of the criteria and filled out all of the necessary documentation before you pay to ship your bike.

Instructions

1. Make sure that your Harley-Davidson meets the certification requirements as outlined by the Australian Government Department of Infrastructure, according to their standards on new vehicles, which differ from those of used vehicles. When filling out all paperwork, specify that your Harley is new.

2. Ask for and receive a statement of compliance from an authorized representative of Harley-Davidson, such as your local Harley-Davidson dealership. This includes an official letter--on official company letterhead--that lists the standards for which your bike is certified. The cover letter and the statement must be signed by the authorized manufacturer representative. Keep the original documents to present to an Australian entry certifier, as copies will not suffice.

3. Review the requirements listed online by the official Australian Department of Infrastructure website with regard to importing new vehicles. There will be requirements regarding the bike's condition, class, certification and road worthiness. Make sure that the specifications listed on your statement of compliance meet the requirements outlined by the Australian government. Prove that you are the owner of your Harley using a bank note or title.

4. Hire a shipping company based on their reputation and cost. Find a company that can ship your bike within your budget. You can receive quotes from international shipping companies online.

5. Contact an official entry certifying company that is registered and recognized by the Australian government's Department of Infrastructure. The entry certifier is responsible for completing entry certification inspections upon your Harley's arrival. Set up an inspection with the company and ask them any questions you may have about the shipping process.

6. Pass customs and security checks upon arrival in Australia. Make sure your documentation is in order regarding biosecurity checks and customs requirements. After passing customs, take your bike to the entry certifier to receive an inspection and, upon passing, your certification. Register your Harley with the Australian government to complete the importing process.

Hook Up A Toshiba Laptop To A Samsung Lcd Tv

Laptops have come a long way in the past decade, with brands like Sony, Dell and Toshiba pushing the limits of each successive generation. Samsung is one of the leaders in HDTV technology, offering crystal clear displays on their LCD models, which are surging in popularity. Anyone wishing to combine these two pieces of stellar technology--Toshiba laptops and Samsung LCD televisions--is in luck, because hooking up your laptop to a TV for use as an extended or external monitor is an easy task.

Instructions

Hooking up the Laptop

1. Locate either the S-Video output port or the HDMI output port on your Toshiba laptop. Though the exact location is dependent on your model, the ports can generally be found on the side of the keyboard and should be clearly labeled. Consult your Toshiba owner's manual if you are still unsure of the locations.

2. Plug in one end of the cord you are using--HDMI to HDMI port or S-Video to S-Video port--to your Toshiba laptop. HDMI is widely considered the better option, as it is capable of transmitting high-definition images and sound to your television. The only drawback is its expense, with many cords easily breaking the $30 mark. S-Video is far less expensive, but also offers substandard video quality and doesn't transmit audio.

3. Locate the HDMI or S-Video input port on your Samsung LCD TV. On almost all models, both can be found on the back and are clearly labeled.

4. Plug in the other end of the cable you are using into the appropriate port--HDMI or S-Video--on the back of your TV.

5. Set the television to the proper video channel using the "Source" option on your remote control. This is the default button on most Samsung models. However, if you're using a universal remote, it might be labeled "Input."

Select whichever video input you are using, HDMI or S-Video.

6. On your laptop, right click your desktop background, highlight "Graphics Options" and a menu appears.

7. Highlight, then left click "Output To: TV" on the menu. Your laptop's monitor should then go black and your desktop should be displayed on your TV.

Create An Hd Photograph

Photographs that are transferred to the computer can be converted to HD.

HD, or high definition photos, is a new file format that is a higher quality than the JPEG, GIF or PNG format the photo file was in on your computer previously. This HD Photo format offers better quality than JPEG, with usually half the file size, according to the Geekpedia website. In order to get this file format or have the ability to convert these other files to the HD Photo format, you will need to perform some downloads and convert existing photographs in a specific way.

Instructions

1. Scan or upload your photo into the computer. This photo can be a snapshot that was taken decades ago or a photo you just took with a high-end digital camera. But by putting it on your computer through one of these methods, the photo will end up as a file in a JPEG, GIF or PNG format.

2. Make sure you have Windows Vista 3.0 installed in order to have the ability to convert your photo files to HD photos. You can also install a program called .NET Framework 3.0. Once these are installed and operating, you can begin creating an HD Photo.

3. Begin a new project in Visual Studio. Then add PresentationCore and WindowsBase as references in this window. These will both be .DLL files.

4. Add two Using Statements to the Visual Studio Windows Project. These should be System.IO and System.Windows.Media.Imaging. A form will appear onscreen prompting you to add a button named "btnConvert," an openPicture button, and a saveWDP button. Double-click btnConvert. Increase Ram Allocated To Integrated Graphics

Allocate more memory to your computer's integrated video adapter.

When a computer video adapter displays 3-D graphics it uses RAM to store textures -- the images applied to 3-D models and scenes. Increasing the amount of memory a video adapter has available allows it to store more high-resolution textures in RAM without retrieving data from the hard drive. This may lead to a performance increase in games. If your computer has an integrated video adapter it shares RAM with the operating system. In many cases you can change the memory allocation to force the computer to devote more RAM to the video adapter.

Instructions

1. Restart your computer. As the computer begins booting, the screen displays a prompt such as "Press F1 to enter setup." Quickly press the key displayed. Depending on your computer's manufacturer the key displayed may be "F1," "F2," "Del" or another key. If you press the key too late and Windows begins loading, do not press the Power button; restart Windows after it loads completely.

2. Push the arrow keys to highlight the "Advanced" menu at the top of the motherboard configuration utility.

3. Locate and change the amount of RAM allocated to the motherboard's integrated video. Depending on your computer model this setting has a label such as "On-Board Video Memory," "Maximum DVMT," "VGA RAM" or "Integrated Video." Raise the value by pressing the up-arrow or "PgUp" key.

4. Press "F10" and "Enter" or follow the instructions on the screen to save the change and restart your computer.

Replace A Brake Light Switch On A Harley Davidson

Modern Harley Davidson motorcycles rely on many components to provide the style and performance demanded by motorcyclists. While the big V-twin motors have no problem bringing the bike up to speed, they rely on hydraulic brakes to bring the iron steed to a halt. A smaller, yet critical, component to the brake system is the brake light switch which illuminates the tail light when the brakes are engaged. When these switches fail, accidents happen. Fortunately, replacing these switches is well within the grasp of the DIY motorcyclist.

Instructions

Front Brake Switch Replacement

1. Check that the ignition is in the "OFF" position. For additional safety, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.

2. Place your cardboard strip between the front brake lever and the brake switch. This will prevent damage to the switch while removing the switch housing.

3. Remove the two screws that secure the handlebar clamp to the front brake master cylinder housing, with a TORX T-27 driver.

4. Disassemble the right switch housing by removing two screws, with a TORX T-25 driver.

5. Remove the screw that secures the brake switch to the housing and cut the switch's wiring. Discard the old switch.

6. Strip the original switch wiring, exposing 1/4 inch of bare wire. If it is not already prepared, strip 1/4 inch of wire from the new switch's wiring. Cut two separate inch-long strips of shrink tubing and slide them over the new switch's wires.

7. Twist the ends of each wire from the original harness together with the wires from the new switch and solder to permanently secure the wires. Slide the shrink tubing over the soldered joint and apply heat to seal the tubing.

8. Hold the brake lever away, place the new switch into the housing and tighten the mounting screw. Place your cardboard strip between the switch and lever before releasing.

9. Reassemble the switch housing and tighten both T-25 screws. Then secure the master cylinder to the handlebar clamp, tightening both T-27 screws.

Rear Brake Light Switch Replacement

10. Check that the ignition is in the "OFF" position. For additional safety, disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.

11. Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness by gently pulling off the spade connectors.

12. Unscrew the switch from the rear brake master cylinder, using an appropriately sized wrench or pliers.

13. Clean the switch mounting threads on the master cylinder to prevent contamination of the brake fluid.

14. Apply a drop of LOC-TITE to the new switch's threads and install it onto the master cylinder, tightening it down to 84-120 inch-pounds with a torque wrench (if available). Connect the spade connectors to the new switch.

15. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and depress the rear brake pedal. If the brake pedal feels soft or the brake light does not illuminate, then you may need to bleed the brake lines to remove air bubbles.

Install A Satellite Dish To My Vs Max Hd

The dish relies on a proper connection between the receiver and TV.

The VS Max HD receiver provides high-definition satellite signal reception to your home or office. The VS Max HD receiver must be connected to your satellite dish via the included coaxial cable and to your TV via the included component cable. The assistance of a professional satellite technician is not required. Install your VS Max HD receiver yourself no matter your level of experience with satellite equipment and televisions.

Instructions

1. Locate the black, single-prong coaxial cable that extends out of the rear "OUT" port on the satellite dish's mast. This cable should be fed inside to where your VS Max HD receiver is located near your TV. Plug this cable into the "ANT IN" port on the back of the receiver.

2. Connect the VS Max HD receiver to your TV by using the included component cable. This audio/video cable is comprised of two sets of prongs, one on each end. Each prong set has one red, one green and one blue prong. Look for color-matching component ports on both the back of the TV and the VS Max HD receiver. Plug one set of prongs into the TV's ports and the other set into the receiver's ports, ensuring that the prongs are matched by color with the ports.

3. Turn on the VS Max HD receiver and the TV. Once the receiver boots, you should see a receiver menu screen appear on the TV. Use the arrow/navigation keys on your remote control to highlight the "Signal Meter" option on this menu, then press the "OK/Select" button at the center of the remote to select this option.

4. Leave a friend with the signal meter screen to assist you. Move outside to the satellite dish.

5. Begin making elevation adjustments to the dish. These are up-and-down alterations to the dish. Make a few small changes and allow the signal meter update to gauge them and update by providing the meter about 5 to 10 seconds of time between your adjustments. Your friend should report back to you every time the meter screen updates. This meter will provide real-time information to help you adjust your satellite by gauging how close it is to being pointed to the correct coordinates.

6. Begin making azimuth adjustments to the dish as well, using the signal meter to guide you. Azimuth adjustments are left/right adjustments to the dish. Continue making adjustments to the dish until the meter indicates you have reached the proper coordinates and are receiving a strong signal. This will complete your VS Max HD receiver installation.

The Specifications Of A 2006 Tc88 Engine

The Twin Cam 88 is known for its large, V-Twin engine design.

The TC88 engine is a Harley-Davidson motorcycle engine, more prominently referred to as the Twin Cam 88. The engine used a twin cam fuel system to enhance burning and performance efficiency. Because of its large displacement, the engine was used with Harley-Davidson's bigger cruiser and touring models, such as the Dyna series. A larger Twin Cam 88B was also released. This modified version had an increased displacement of 96 cubic inches, or 1,584 cc.

Engine Specifications

The 2006 Twin Cam 88 engine used a four-stroke, 45-degree, V-Twin design and had a piston displacement of 1,442 cc. The engine derived its name from the fact that it had one cam per cylinder. Each cam also had two lobes, which helped balance and align the engine during operation. Harley-Davidson did not release a power rating for the engine, but, according to the NightRider website, an estimated power rating placed the output approximately between 70 and 80 horsepower. The torque rating was an impressive 85 foot-pounds at 3,000 rpm. The pistons had an 8.9-to-1 compression ratio and a bore by stroke of 3.8 by 4 inches. The engine valves were pushrod operated and the overhead valves used hydraulic, self-adjusting lifters. The engine featured two valves per cylinder, totaling four valves.

Features and Equipment

Harley-Davidson designed the engine with an air-cooled cooling system and a six-speed transmission. The transmission was belt operated and the clutch utilized a multi-plate with a diaphragm spring in an oil bath. The starter was electrically operated. The fuel system used an Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection and the fuel control used a dual overhead camshaft. Approximate fuel consumption was 47 mpg, and, with some models, Harley-Davidson paired a 4.8-gallon tank with the engine. The transmission had the following gear ratios: first gear: 3.337-to-1, second: 2.313-to-1, third: 1.718-to-1, fourth: 1.391-to-1, fifth: 1.175-to-1 and sixth: 1-to-1.

History

The Twin Cam 88 engine followed in the footsteps of a long heritage of V-Twin Harley-Davidson engines. Harley-Davidson's first 45-degree, V-Twin engine was released in 1909 and production only lasted two years. Released in 1911 was the F-Head, which improved on the original design of the 1909 engine. The F-Head was produced until 1929. The Flathead engine was produced, according to Harley-Davidson, for a remarkable 44 years, which set a record for years in production. The Knucklehead and Panhead began to display the large, V-Twin design characteristics of today's Harley-Davidson engines. The Shovelhead was manufactured between 1966 and 1983. In the early 1980s, Harley-Davidson had a difficult time competing in the global motorcycle industry, but with the release of the Evolution engine, one of the company's most famous, outlook began to change. That engine was produced for 15 years until 1999. The Twin Cam 88 was produced from 1999 until 2006; Harley Davidson now manufactures a Twin Cam 96 which is similar to the Twin Cam 88.

Motorcycle Diagnostic Tools

Keep your cycle running smoothly with the help of diagnostic tools.

A good set of motorcycle diagnostic tools are a must for a motorcycle rider. Diagnostic scans can pinpoint the exact problem and often makes it easier to fix motorcycles. Regular motorcycle diagnostic scans can also prevent problems before they occur.

Ignition System Testers

An ohmmeter or a voltmeter set to ohms is a good diagnostic tool for testing motorcycle ignition systems. These instruments measure the resistance of an electrical charge sent through a wire. On a motorcycle ignition coil, an ohmmeter detects the resistance between the low-tension wire and the ground and the resistance between the secondary wire and the ground. If the measurements don't agree with the specs given in the manual, a bad coil might be the reason. A professional motorcycle ignition tester is also effective in pinpointing problems in your motorcycle ignition. It works on 2-cylinder, single cylinder, four-stroke and MSD pulse ignitions. A simple push of a button sets it for different test programs, and it also checks the tachometer.

Oil Level Indicators

An oil level switch is an excellent diagnostic tool for motorcycle owners. It alerts the rider with a LED light when the oil level is low. A Posse Fork oil level gauge measures oil levels from 0-300mm with a syringe that is inserted into the oil tank. It works for all conventional or inverted fork cycles. Oil level indicators have an indicator to show the oil level. Some of the newer motorcycles come with a dipstick or a window at the oil tank, making the oil check easier.

Diagnostic Tool Kits

A diagnostic tool kit for your motorcycle can save lots of time and trouble. The tools in the kit should be easy to set up and use, should work on your make of motorcycle and should be able to pinpoint most problems. A reference book of standard tests should be one of the items in the kit. Many of these kits include software that takes you through your trouble-shooting step-by-step. The kit might also include an oscilloscope, current clamps, crocodile clips and multi-meter probes. Some diagnostic kits include a scanner that reads live data from the battery, throttle angle, RPM and more, and has tools to adjust the idling and the throttle valve position sensor. More specialized kits include replacement hose kits, carburetor adapter sets, and general scanner sets that link your motorcycle's data to your computer.

Assemble A Harley Davidson Windshield On A Deluxe Soft Tail

Replacing the windshield is not difficult.

Having your windshield damaged on your Harley-Davidson Deluxe Soft Tail is a serious problem. It reduces visibility, can net you a hefty fine and makes your bike look less than its best. While in cars replacing the windshield is a serious task best left to professionals, assembling your new windshield on your Harley-Davidson Deluxe Soft Tail is well within the skill set of most novice do-it-yourself mechanics.

Instructions

1. Grasp the damaged windshield on each side. Firmly pull it forward then up to disengage it from the bushing grooves and remove it.

2. Remove the four screws holding the front and back trim pieces in place. Disregard the washers, bushings, and screws.

3. Put the protective adhesive tape from your kit along the back edges of the trim.

4. Put a flat washer, a bushing and a thick washer onto two mushroom screws. Put one mushroom screw into the top holes of the front and back trim pieces. Do not tighten them down; just place them in the holes.

5. Put a flat washer, a bushing and a thick washer onto two button screws. Put one button screw from the into the bottom holes of the front and back trim pieces. Make sure they are tightened all the way.

6. Push the bottom of the new windshield into the grooves on the front fork assembly, making sure it's secure in the bushings. Push the top of the windshield into the top bushings.

7. Check to make sure the windshield is secure in all four bushings by pressing on it by hand. Tighten down the upper screws.

Install End Caps On Hand Grips On Harleydavidson Motorcycles

End caps protect the edges of motorcycle handgrips.

Many Harley-Davidson riders add leather saddlebags, hand grip covers with end caps and leather tassels to their bikes. Hand grips with end caps add a thicker volume to the grips for a secure grasp. Caps protect the grips from rubbing on the metal ends of the handlebars, which eventually wears through after several years of use.

Instructions

1. Pull out about 3 inches of double-stick tape. Pull the bottom protective backing off the tape and let it hang down. Press the end of the tape near the left motorcycle grip closest to the center of the handlebars. Pull additional tape off the roll while pulling the backing off and wrapping it around the grip in a loose circle to the outer end of the grip. Make four to five revolutions down the length of the grip.

2. Place one hand on each side of the opening in the grip cover. It is a tube with a slit down the length. Pull the two halves apart and place them on the left grip over the tank with the slit pointing down and the end cover on the outermost part of the handlebar. Press the cover in place over the tape.

3. Cut the tip of each end of the lace with scissors at a 45-degree angle to create a pointed tip. Pull the lace through each hole on each side of the grip cover nearest the handlebars so the lace protrudes from each side in the same length.

4. Insert the loose end of the right lace through the second left hole. Insert the loose end of the left lace through the second right hole. Continue this process until the entire grip with end caps is laced as a shoe.

5. Tie a double knot in the ends of the lace. Let the excess leather lacing hang down, or trim it.

Fastest Electric Motorcycles

Racing Motorcycle

There are more than a dozen electric motorcycle manufacturers worldwide. Some of these manufacturers build custom racing machines while others build production racers and regular street bikes available to the public for less than $10,000. The federal government encourages the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs) by granting an environmental tax credit of 10 percent of the purchase price, up to $2,500. Many states offer similar tax rebates.

KillaCycle

The KillaCycle is billed as the quickest racing motorcycle on Earth. On September 30, 2009 at the Bandimere Speedway in Colorado, this racer completed the 1/4 mile in 7.864 seconds, attaining a speed of 169 mph. KillaCycle is the creation of Bill Dube, who is completing tests on a new racer, KillaCycle II, which is reported to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2 seconds.

Lightning Superbike Prototype

California based Lightning Motorcycles is the creation of Richard Hatfield, who along with fellow engineers, built a racing prototype. In August, 2010 this speedster competed in the second TTXGP Zero Emissions motorcycle race in Virginia and came away as the North American champ. Two weeks later, it set the electric motorcycle land speed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats by completing the two-way measured mile run at an average speed of 173 mph.

Mission One

The record for the second fastest production motorcycle belongs to Mission One. At the Bonneville Speedway on September 1, 2009 it averaged 150.059 mph going both ways on the one-mile run. This street legal racer is the result of the combined efforts of San Francisco-based Mission Motors co-founders Forrest North and Edward West, along with the vice-president of engineering. Mason Cabot.

Native GPR-S

Electric Motorsport's Native GPR-S is a practical cycle styled on the well accepted universal Japanese motorcycle (UJM) design. In early 2010, this machine could be purchased for $8500, making it one of the least expensive production electric street bikes currently for sale. Electric Motorsport started in 2001 by producing and selling electric scooters. It began marketing the GPR-S in October 2008.

Practices Of Hr That Have Changed

Human relations, or HR, has challenges and tasks that have radically changed since the end of the 1980s in response to the changes in markets and how organizations do business. Gone are the days when HR was a department that was necessary but not taken very seriously; a department of "paper-pushers" whose primary job was to hire, fire and manage employee documentation benefits. Today's HR departments are a vital part of the compliance, planning and future success of any organization.

Greater Focus on Morale

It used to be that companies believed that if a person had a job, received a paycheck and had the potential to eventually move up and retire after working for them for 40 years, he would stay. Keeping employees happy was never a part of the equation. After the first major rounds of recession-era downsizing occurred in the late 1980s, people realized that they could no longer count on retiring from their job and began asking why they were putting up with unsatisfying job conditions when there was no guarantee of a future or a benefit. College students of that period realized that they had to create their own advancement opportunities, often with a new company. Retaining quality employees who could easily get a job elsewhere by keeping them happy became a priority for companies. The wave of studies that showed that better employee morale led to higher productivity sealed this realization. Today, HR departments spend a great deal of resources determining the best and most cost-effective ways to create and enhance employee morale.

Actively Promote Diversity and Workplace Tolerance

Anti-discrimination laws and social changes during the 1990s and 2000s, particularly regarding homosexual rights and sexual harassment, created a need on the part of HR to educate employees on tolerance of other ethnic groups, genders, races and disabilities. HR also had to train employees on respect the boundaries between genders so that innocent behaviors did not veer into the territory of offensive behaviors. Tolerance and respect of gender-related boundaries had been actively promoted and become a factor in hiring and promotion practices. Any vestiges of an open or assumed "good old boy's" network had to be eliminated or companies ran the risk of a potential discrimination lawsuit.

Development of Measurement and Monitoring

Prior to the 1990s, pay raises and career advancement was either haphazard or based on a subjective judgment by a supervisor or superior. The legal environment of the 1990s meant that the playing field had to remain level and that companies used objective rather than subjective criteria to monitor and rate employee performance. This led to the prominence of the annual employee review. HR departments became responsible for organizing, scheduling and administering these reviews, then making recommendations on pay, benefits and promotions based on review findings. In addition to giving an objective source for basing decisions, these findings also served to document any and all potential causes for termination, therefore protecting against lawsuits. Clear, concise job descriptions arose along with these reviews to create standards by which to judge an employee's job performance.

Make Your Exhaust Rumble

Stock exhaust systems direct from the factory are usually designed to minimize noise levels.

Your vehicle's exhaust sound profile is a direct result of the engine and exhaust components. The deep rumbling tone of an exhaust is typically characteristic of a large engine. More volume of gas produced by multiple high-volume cylinders will provide the basis for a deep rumbling exhaust. Even without a large engine, however, you can modify your exhaust system to create a rumbling sound. The exhaust pipe, construction of the exhaust gas flow from engine to tail pipe and exhaust tips all contribute to the exhaust sound profile.

Instructions

1. Add an exhaust tip. One of the least expensive modifications, exhaust tips can be added to the end of your tail pipe to alter the sound profile of the exhaust. Exhaust tips with double walls, flared tips and expanding diameters will all increase the noise output of the exhaust.

2. Replace the muffler. Muffler design is the most significant contributor to the sound profile of your vehicle. Even vehicles with smaller engines can be fitted with mufflers which will enhance, deepen and mellow the tone of the exhaust sound. When choosing a muffler, find a design which will allow additional volumes of gas to pass easily through the chambers. The design should also incorporate minimal baffling which will dampen the sounds produced by your exhaust system.

3. Increase the size of your exhaust pipes by 1/2-inch to 1-inch in diameter. This should be done in conjunction with replacement of the muffler to ensure the gases are not constricted by the old muffler diameter. The increased volume of gases allowed through your system will not only allow the exhaust gases to be ported from the system more easily; it will also allow for a deeper tone to resonate from the exhaust system.

Harleydavidson Wheel Removal

Harley-Davidson Wheel Removal

With the popularity of motorcycle riding reaching levels never before seen, more and more Harley-Davidson riders are seeking to lower their costs by performing their own maintenance. Removing your own wheels for tire change, repair and the like is an excellent way to keep more money in your pocket while ensuring that quality and workmanship are maintained at factory levels. In this matter, tools, preparation and a good working knowledge of the process are a must.

Tools

Invest in a good hydraulic lift. They can be found online and in stores for under $100 and are worth the investment. Nothing will put a damper on a motorcycle project quicker that seeing your Harley laying over on its side on the garage floor. Also, acquire a torque wrench. Most Harley fasteners have a torque value specified for their application. These values should be closely adhered to. Obtain the shop manual for your particular make and model from the local Harley dealer. Finally, a good mechanic's tool set is a must.

Preparation

Clear out a working space within the garage for the wheel removal. Make sure that you move any clutter out of the immediate work area to avoid slips and trips. Gather up all needed tools for easy access. Finally, jack up the cycle and chalk the bike and/or the jack to avoid movement.

Front Tire

The front tire is generally the easiest to remove, so start there. Remove the brake caliper with an appropriately sized Allen wrench. Remove the axle nut and slider cap nuts with a standard wrench and pull out the axle. The tire should now come free. It may be necessary to let air out of the tire before removing to allow the tire to fit out of the forks.

Rear Tire

With the addition of a belt drive and sprocket, the rear wheel is slightly more difficult to remove than the front wheel. Start by removing the cotter pin and axle nut from the rear wheel. Tap out the axle and let the wheel fall forward toward the front of the motorcycle. Slip the drive belt off of its pulley and pull the tire back and away from the bike. It may be necessary to jack the bike up slightly higher than when removing the front wheel. If unable to do so, then work the tire down and to the side.

Remove A Golf Cart Governor

The standard speed of a golf cart is typically 12 to 14 miles per hour. There are many available options to increase the power and speed of your golf cart should you desire. Removing the golf car governor will allow your golf cart to travel much faster but there are safer improvements you can make to achieve the same results and without causing harm to the motor.

Instructions

1. Remove the two screws that are securing the plastic plate located behind the golf cart seat.

2. Take the plastic cover off and set the screws aside, you will need them later when you are ready to secure the plate in place.

3. Find the governor. It is a metal piece that looks like a "T" and it will pivot in both directions. You will need to disable the silver thicker part of the "T".

4. Use a rubber band, heavy string or a piece of wire to tie the silver part of the "T" to the metal rod that is located just behind it. Tie or wind it tight preventing the silver side from pivoting toward the front of the cart.

5. Re-attach the plastic plate securing it with the two screws.

Plastic Recycling Plants In The Dfw Area Texas

Recycling can keep plastics out of landfills.

Derived from non-renewable resources, plastics are used in making containers, household items and furniture. According to the EPA, in 2008 the U.S. generated about 30 million tons of plastic products; however, only 2.1 million tons were recycled. Plastics are now a major marketing material, reusable in producing items once made out of lumber, such as decks and structural support for buildings. There are several businesses in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that offer plastic recycling.

Evergreen Paper Recycling

Located on Everman Parkway, Evergreen is the leading commercial and industrial recycling plant in Fort Worth, TX. They have made it their goal to save client money by focusing on waste-reduction programs in order to use fewer trees and less oil. Not only do they recycle plastic, but also paper and cardboard. Evergreen offers many benefits to clients by providing customized recycling programs for other types of waste. The best feature of this company is that they pay the client for recycling.

Upgrade A Harleydavidson Stage 1 Motor

The motor is the heart of your motorcycle; upgrading it will revolutionize your ride.

If you own a Harley, you may start wondering make your own bike louder and faster. You've already gone through the steps to upgrade your motor to a Stage 1: You added a high-flow air intake system, as well as high performance mufflers. If you're hungry for even more pavement-crunching power, a Stage 2 upgrade is in your near future. Since Stage 2 upgrades include several variables to choose from, the amount of upgrading you complete is up to you.

Instructions

1. Decide what kind of motor you want to build. When you delve into a Stage 2 motor, you no longer have the ability to simply bolt on components. Because you will be tearing the motor apart and replacing major internal components, it is important to know what you want the end result to be. Do you want high-end speed, or low-end torque improvements?

2. Purchase the correct parts after you decide what you want your bike to do. You can either buy them through an aftermarket dealer, or go to your local Harley shop. If you buy your parts from a shop, you'll pay more, but you'll have the advantage of being able to speak to someone in person.

3. Remove all of the old parts. For a Stage 2 upgrade, you'll be altering the cylinders and cam, at least. Begin the process by removing the parts currently on your motorcycle. Make sure that you organize the parts as you remove them to facilitate easy installation later. Clean all parts that will be reused.

4. Machine the cylinders and other various parts. One of the quickest ways to improve power is to bore the cylinders. Make sure that if you bore the cylinders, you buy the correct size of replacement pistons. If you decided to purchase a Screaming Eagle Stage 2 kit, new cylinders are included. You might also consider completing other machine work, such as a valve job or a head job. These can be expensive, but they drastically improve the bike's performance.

5. Install all of the new parts. After all the machine work is done, begin the process of putting the motor back together. Not only will you be installing improved cylinders, you'll also be installing new pistons, a new cam, clutch spring and gaskets. While not required, this is also a good time to consider installing new cam spacers.

And don't worry because you aren't locked into Harley black and Davidson orange for a color scheme. Bedding is always a good starting place for picking your palette, but you may also want to work around vivid wallpaper cutouts of vintage choppers or a pre-pasted border of stylized flames. Hang a chair rail, and paint sky blue above and charcoal gray below to give the feel of the open highway; consider using chalkboard paint below the rail if you have a budding artist who might enjoy doodling some traffic on his "road."

On any given day, Internet auction sites carry dozens of used motocross uniforms; a cool BMX jacket becomes the room's focal point if hung on a row of pegs. Accessories abound for even the youngest enthusiast. Bring his room to life with a rocking motorcycle or a growth chart featuring the likeness of a motocross icon such as Jeremy McGrath or Travis Pastrana. A tin "Motorcycle Parking Only" sign can continue the theme.

Dens and Game Rooms

If you want to bring your love for bikes into a room shared by the entire family, your style statement can be as subtle or as bold as you like. Begin by identifying a piece of furniture or objet d'art that your favorite gearhead can't live without to establish your color scheme, and then shop for other complementary items. Keep in mind that not everything has to be emblazoned with an actual motorcycle graphic or logo; your room will be more interesting if you incorporate items that stand out because of their design features or textures alone. A black leather chair placed near a chrome and glass occasional table provides a sophisticated spin on the theme without detracting from your "Easy Rider" and "Motorcycle Diaries" film posters. Tattoo-inspired art and fabrics also can be used to add to the visual mix.

If your den doubles as an office, look for lighting and small accessories to accent your biker theme. For truly one-of-a-kind pieces, you can find artisans with online galleries of banker's lamps and business card holders made from Triumph clutches and shift forks.

Game rooms are ideal places to bring motorcycle décor to life. Depending on your budget, you can find everything from bar stools and jukeboxes to retro gas pumps and billiard tables with logos from your favorite bike maker. If you already have a growing collection of die-cast pieces, consider making them a focal point by placing them in a lit display case.

Kitchens

Your favorite bike can even inspire a kitchen renovation. High-end refrigerators are available with stainless steel flame patterns on the doors. A classic '50s diner theme may be the obvious approach to complement such appliances, but it isn't necessarily locked into such retro looks. In a kitchen profiled in "Atticmag" magazine, concrete and stainless steel inspired by a favorite Ducati gives an ultramodern look to the space. Industrial tread-plate was used on select cabinet doors to add unusual texture and color, and the owners commissioned a local cabinetmaker to design drawer pulls from turnbuckles and clevis pins.

Learn Motorcycle Mechanics

Depending on his level of experience, a motorcycle mechanic will be called upon to do everything from cleaning motorcycle sparkplugs to overhauling engines. For anyone with a mechanical bent and a general love of motorcycles, becoming a motorcycle mechanic can be a satisfying and rewarding career. Opportunities exist not only with manufacturers, but on racetracks as well, as mechanics are routinely called upon to service bikes during competition.

Instructions

1. Apprentice yourself to an experienced motorcycle mechanic. Almost every town has motorcycle shops, and any shop worth its salt will have at least one mechanic on staff. Confirm that the shop offers a trade certification program. Certification will be proof of your experience and will help you gain entrée into other levels of the business. As an apprentice, you may not be paid initially, and the work may seem unglamorous. Gradually, as you acquire more skill, this will change. According to schoolsintheusa.com, motorcycle apprenticeship programs last on average between four and five years before trade certification is obtained.

2. Enroll in a training program. Motorcycle Mechanics Institute of America, for instance, offers a 36-week core program that teaches basic motorcycle mechanics and primes its students for entry-level technician jobs. Students choose which brand of motorcycle they wish to study. In 2009, depending on the chosen course of study, tuition to MMIA runs between $25,000 and $35,000.

3. Study at home. Many books exist containing instructions for motorcycle maintenance. "Motorcycle Basics Techbook" by Chilton is only one such example. If you don't have a motorcycle already, purchase one. Cheap motorcycles can be purchased at local police auctions or on ebay.com. Having a motorcycle present will allow you to put knowledge to practice.

What Is An Hd Projector

An HD projector is a device for displaying a video signal in a resolution higher than a standard television. The HD stands for high-definition, which can have a variety of designations and types. Projectors can be used in a variety of ways. While previous projector technology was more appropriate for slideshows and presentations, the technology has evolved a great deal. Today projectors are used for videogames, movies and television.

High-Definition Resolution

High-definition resolution is defined simply by being of a higher quality than standard-definition. Standard-definition televisions display images at a resolution of 640x480 pixels. High-definition comes in a few standard forms. The first is known as 720p (1280x720 pixels). The highest grade of high-definition projection commonly available is 1080p, which is 1920x1080 pixels.

P versus I

HD projection comes in two basic varieties: progressive and interlaced. Interlaced scanning is when the image on the screen is refreshed one half at a time. The lines of pixels alternate changing with each cycle. While the overall effect is very smooth, because the screen refreshes at a rate faster than the human eye can see, there is a notable drop in clarity. Progressive scanning simply refreshes every pixel at once, with every power cycle. The "P" at the end of 720p or 1080p indicates that the image is progressively scanned and, therefore, more clear.

Light Output

An important component of high-definition is projection is the light source and power. The light is what pushes the image through the lens and produces the bright screen that makes projection so desirable. The amount a projector produces is described in lumens. The more lumens, the brighter the final image.

Projection Surface

What separates an HD projector from a standard television is that the projector and the screen are separate, but equally necessary, components. A projector is only a projector when the image is being displayed on a surface. This surface can be a specialized screen or a white wall.

Formats

HD projectors cannot simply produce high-definition images. Instead, they are dependent upon a device and a medium that can provide a high-definition signal. The HD projector is the tool used to present a high-definition signal. High-definition video can come from HD cable broadcasts, video game systems or high definition video formats, such as Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.

Remove A Chevy Truck Door Panel

Whether you need to replace a window motor, a speaker, install a window regulator, or you're just curious how it's connected, you can easily remove the door panel of your Chevy truck. Removing the door panel will be easier than anything you're going to have to repair or replace underneath the door panel. You won't need any fancy tools, but it will help if you have a little mechanical skill so you don't break anything during the procedure.

Instructions

1. Open the door and roll the window all the way down. If the vehicle is equipped with power windows and locks, turn the ignition key to the "off" position.

2. Gently pry the triangular molding off of the front corner of the window that covers the interior of the side view mirror with the flathead screwdriver. It will be that same color as the door panel and is only pressed into the door cavity by two press clips and a bottom lip that goes into the window cavity.

3. Remove the door lock panel on the door panel by prying it off with the screwdriver. Again, this simply clips onto a metal rod underneath, but be gentle and tenacious at the same time.

4. Pry off the door molding cover around the door handle with the screwdriver. You will have to manipulate the cover over the handle once it is free from the door panel.

5. Pry off the piece of molding from the arm rest that has all the control buttons for the window regulator and power locks and power mirror control with the screwdriver. Be gentle. Unplug the three plugs from the back of the window/door regulator once removed from the door panel. For manual window doors, you'll need to pry off the door handle molding and locate the screw and remove it with a screwdriver.

6. Locate the two screws on the door panel and remove them with the ratchet, extension and a socket. One is located under the arm rest panel you just removed and unplugged in the upper left hand corner. The other is located on the upper side of the arm rest just above the door handle and just below the molding your grab to close the door.

7. Grab the arm rest and lift the door upward and outward. Though it should start removing from the door, there are still a couple wires attached to it. Don't pull it away roughly from the door just yet.

8. Locate and remove the speaker/tweeter wire plug at the bottom of the door panel.

9. Remove the door panel light (if equipped) by pulling the black plug out of the housing for the light.

10. Lift the door completely away from the vehicle.

Play My Ipod In A Mercedes E350

You'll need extra equipment to play your iPod in a Mercedes-Benz E350.

Reviewers laud the E350. They call it the perfect representative of Mercedes-Benz, a mature luxury vehicle that won't break the bank.

The E350's standard audio equipment is a six-disk CD/DVD player. You'll need extras to listen to your iPod.

Mercedes-Benz's Built-In Solution

Mercedes-Benz offers the Premium 1 and the Premium 2 packages for the E350, and both include an iPod plug in the glove compartment. If you wish not to opt for a full package, you can add just the iPod Integration Kit accessory for $265 (in August 2010). All of these options will let you control the iPod from buttons on your steering wheel.

An even less expensive accessory without controls on the steering wheel is the Media Interface USB Cable ($55) , into which you can plug your iPod.

A More Roundabout Solution

The E350's standard CD/DVD player does not include a radio. Mercedes-Benz only offers a radio (an HD radio, incidentally) as part of either Premium Package. You cannot otherwise order a radio from Mercedes-Benz . You can, however, always buy a car stereo or radio elsewhere and install it in your car.

If you install your own stereo, make sure that it's equipped for iPods.

But what if you're stuck with a stereo that's incompatible with an iPod? There's still a solution. Several manufacturers sell small FM transmitters that plug into your iPod. Just set the transmission frequency, tune your FM radio to it and you can listen to your iPod through your radio. You can even purchase a transmitter with a built-in iPod charger--perfect for long trips.

Don't Do This

Never wear headphones or earphones to listen to your iPod or any other audio while you drive. Headphones and earphones not only block out external noise, they also distract you, and that can be dangerous to you as a driver and to the people around your car. It's also illegal in many jurisdictions.
