Digital cameras rank high among the items eBay shoppers search for.

Sporting Goods and Entertainment Memorabillia


Golf clubs, golf and mountain bike ranked among the words most searched for in the sporting goods category. Bicycle, road bike, fishing and kayak also ranked high, followed by compound bow, fishing reels and baseball bats.


Those searching for entertainment memorabilia wanted to find Kiss, Beatles, Jimmy Buffet, Justin Bieber and Elvis items. Their other top search terms included shoes, Michael Jackson, Prince, "Justin Bieber hair" and Marilyn Monroe.


Cameras & Photo


The words "digital camera" led the search list in the cameras and photo category on eBay, followed by Canon, Nikon, "Canon digital camera" and camera. Words finishing out the top 10 included Leica, Sony, "Sony digital camera," "Nikon digital camera" and Pentax.


Pet Supplies and Collectibles


Dog, aquarium, Frontline and bird cage headed the list of search terms in the pet supplies category in May 2011. Up next came fish tank, "Frontline Plus for dogs," dog bed and dog clothes. The terms dog collar and fish rounded out this group.


Shoppers in eBay's collectibles marketplace looked for baseball cards, vintage, Harley Davidson and Coca-Cola. Up next came Swarovski, Star Wars, Pokemon cards and knives. Disney and Avon finished out this grouping.


Cell Phones and PDAs


The electronically minded shoppers searched for iPhone 4, Blackberry, iPhone and Nokia in the cell phones and PDAs category. They also investigated Samsung, Blackberry Torch, HTC and Blackberry Curve. HTC and Evo concluded the top-10 search terms in this group.


Musical Instruments, Pottery and Glass


Key words in the musical instruments category included guitar, Gibson, Carvin and Marshall. "Gibson Les Paul" also ranked high, as did banjo, fender, violin, acoustic guitar and bass.


Search terms leading the way in the pottery and glass category included Red Wing, McCoy, Roseville and carnival glass. Fire King, Fenton, Weller and milk glass followed closely behind, with Nippon and Roseville pottery finishing out the group.

Replace The Baffles In Vance & Hines Big Shot Pipes

Almost all motorcycle exhausts have baffles.


Vance & Hines Big Shots are available for most cruisers. Both the baffles and the mufflers are removable and Vance & Hines encourages customers to tune their bike's performance by buying slightly different, replacement baffles sets. Several other aftermarket manufacturers also market replacement baffles for Big Shot model exhausts. Baffles restrict exhaust flow and suppress noise. In general, the louder the exhaust, the less restrictive it is. The less restrictive the exhaust, the more horsepower the engine produces at higher RPM.


Instructions


1. Loosen but do not remove the rear heat shields from both mufflers using a flathead screwdriver. Working on one muffler at a time, turn the heat shields so the bottoms of the mufflers are visible.


2. Look for two Allen head screws on the bottom of each muffler. The more rearward screw is called the "baffle screw." Rearward means toward the rear of the motcycle as opposed to the front.


3. Loosen and remove the baffle screw on each muffler with an Allen head wrench. Save the screw.


4. Remove the baffle tube from inside each muffler shell with pliers.


5. Insert replacement baffles in both muffler shells by hand. Align the baffle screw holes on the bottom of the baffles with the baffle screw hole in the muffler shells.


6. Secure the replacement baffles in the muffler shells by tightening the baffle screws with an Allen wrench. Slide the heat shields back onto the exhaust system.


7. Secure the heat shields to the exhaust system by tightening the heat shield clamps with a flathead screwdriver.

Motorcycle mechanics repair and maintain motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles. Though many workers learn their skills on the job or by working on vehicles informally, employers prefer those with formal training because of the growing complexity of motorcycles. Experienced mechanics may advance to service manager, or open their own repair shops, all of which affect average wages.


Work


Motorcycle mechanics usually work indoors in repair shops or garages, but may sometimes go outdoors to the scene of a breakdown or test-drive their efforts. Many work full time with a median salary of $31,820 annually, with a range of $20,730 to $51,050. Part-time work is sometimes available from popular shops or during busy periods. Hourly pay on these occasions is $15.30, with a range of $9.96 to $24.54. This is as of May 2009 from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).


Industries


The industries that hire the most motorcycle mechanics are other motor vehicle dealers, which include shops that sell motorcycles. They make up almost 89 percent of the total 16,070 jobs. They pay slightly more than the average at $16.26 or $33,810. The highest-paying employers are wholesalers of motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. These businesses primarily sell motorcycles and their parts to businesses like retailers. They pay $23.65 or $49,190, but only offer 70 positions.


States

Employment concentration, however, is only at 0.04 per 1,000, making it a tougher job market than the Florida cities.

Install Harley Gear Drive Cams

Install Harley Gear Drive Cams


Harley-Davidson Sportster motors use an individual gear-drive cam for each valve. The cams are mounted in series along the right side of the engine under the cam cover. The crankshaft gear engages the cam gears, and each cam gear engages the one adjacent to it. The power flows from the engine crankshaft gear through the cam gears, which rotate the cams and control the valve timing, synchronizing all of the valves with the crankshaft and each other. Once you have removed the old cams from the cam case, the new cams can be installed.


Instructions


1. Raise the bike with the bike lift. Place the lift towards the rear of the frame so the rear wheel is lifted clear of the ground. Put the transmission in first gear.


2. Remove the flywheel inspection plug with an Allen wrench. Roll the rear wheel until the TDC (Top Dead Center) dimple is visible and centered in the inspection hole. The locater dimple on the crankshaft gear should be at the closest point of its rotation to the gear that it will drive.


3. Insert the cam that is driven directly by the crankshaft gear halfway into its bushing. Rotate the cam until its locater dimple lines up with both the crankshaft dimple and its neighboring cam gears, then push it fully into its bushing and engage the cam gear with the crankshaft gear.


4. Insert the remaining cams into their bushings and line up the locater dimples. Push the cams fully into their bushings and engage the cam gears with their neighbors.


5. Reinstall the flywheel inspection plug.

Replace Headlights On A Harleydavidson Triple Tree

A single screwdriver is all you need to ensure a clear view of the road at night.


Most Harley-Davidson motorcycle headlights mount directly onto the triple tree, the clamp-like structure that supports the front fork and handlebars. This placement allows the headlight to turn in the direction the motorcycle is steered, providing enough light to illuminate a darkened curve in the road. When the headlight bulb burns out, remove and replace the bulb through the headlight's easy-to-access location on the triple tree. While there are some differences between the ranges of machines offered by Harley-Davidson, the job is straightforward and can be performed on most of the company's motorcycles.


Instructions


1. Remove the screw at the bottom of the outer headlight trim ring using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the trim ring off the headlight shell.


2. Remove the inner headlight adjustment ring using a Phillips screwdriver. This step applies only to Road King models and models that have a fully enclosed headlight cowl.


3. Pull the headlight lens out of the headlight shell. Pull the rubber boot off the rear of the headlight lens. Unplug the electrical socket from the headlight prongs on the rear of the lens.


4. Squeeze the bulb-retaining clip, then pull the clip away from the bulb. Pull the bulb out of the headlight lens.


5. Grasp the new H4 headlight bulb by its prongs, avoiding all contact with the glass portion of the bulb. Slide the bulb into the headlight lens, matching the raised portions of the bulb's base with the notches cut into the lens. Squeeze the retaining clip and lock it into place over the base of the headlight bulb.


6. Plug the electrical socket into place over the bulb prongs, then push the rubber boot into place. Push the headlight lens into the headlight shell, placing the Harley-Davidson logo on the front of the lens in an upright position.


7. Reinstall the inner alignment ring, if it was removed earlier. Reinstall the outer trim ring.

Connect A Tv To Avr

Use RCA audio cables to connect your TV to an audio video receiver.


Modern home entertainment devices provide myriad ways of interconnecting your home system. The use of an audio/video receiver (AVR), for instance, can maximize your TV watching experience by outputting your TV's audio through high-quality stereo speakers. The thought of connecting your TV to an AVR may seem intimidating, but it can be achieved by following just a few basic steps.


Instructions


1. Connect one end of the RCA audio cables to the RCA audio output on the TV. Make sure to connect the red cable to the red plug on the TV and the white cable to white plug.


2. Attach the other end of the RCA cables to one of the RCA audio inputs on the AVR. The AVR may have RCA audio outputs as well, so make sure to use the ports labeled "in" or "input" and not "out" or "output."


3. Tune the AVR to the input to which you plugged the TV. For example, if the connection that you used on the AVR was labeled "input 2," tune the AVR to input 2 per the manufacturer's instructions, and you should now hear the TV's audio through the AVR's speakers.

Install A Sissy Bar On A Dyna Low Rider

Harley Davidson Dyna Low Rider features the classic Harley-Davidson styling with a lower center of gravity. The Low Rider's seat is only 26 inches off the ground. Combined with mid-mounted foot controls, and highway cruising foot pegs, the low rider gives the bike's pilot a comfortable posture for short- or long-term motorcycle rides. Harley-Davidson offers a number of customizing options, including stylish selection of padded or chromed sissy bars.


Instructions


1. Remove the sissy bar and the FXDL side mount kit from the manufacturer's packaging. Examine the parts, and verify that they are undamaged.


2. Identify the rear fender support bars on either side of the rear wheel fender. These chromed or black gloss steel structural members are fastened to the bike at the top of the rear shock absorber, and extend toward the back of the bike, parallel to the ground.


3. Loosen the bolts on the rear fender support that connect the support to the rear fender, and which fasten onto the rear turn signals. Slide the side mount kit into place between the fender mount support bar and the rear fender on each side of the bike. Tighten these bolts to secure the side mount kit.


4. Attach the sissy bar to the newly installed FXDL side of the mount kit. In most cases no drilling is necessary. The parts are engineered to attach to each other and provide a stable and reliable mount for the Dyna Low Rider Sissy Bar.

Replace Harley Rocker Boxes

Harley Davidson rocker boxes are a three-part aluminum assembly with rubber quad seal gaskets to retain top-end engine oil lubrication. The rocker boxes house the top end of the pushrods, the valve rockers, valve stems and stem seals. They incorporate sound-damping technology to reduce valve-train noise, and can be fitted with chrome or custom boxes adding "curb appeal" to the bike. These boxes can be replaced with basic mechanic's tools.


Instructions


Replacing the Rocker Boxes


1. Drain the fuel tank. Remove the fuel tank mounting bolts. Turn the fuel petcock to the "Off" position and remove the fuel line and vaccuum line from the petcock spigot. Elevate the fuel tank (for a one-tank design) and block it up with a wood block. Split-tank designs must have the fuel crossover tube removed and each side of the tank removed completely from the chassis to gain access to the top of the rocker boxes.


2. Remove the rocker box top cover bolts. Lift off the top cover, middle spacer and associated rubber seals. Place the transmission in first gear and elevate the rear of the bike with a center-stand or bike lift. Rotate the rear tire and observe the valve rocker's movement in the box. Roll the tire until the front cylinder valves are in valve overlap (both valves are depressed at once). The rear-cylinder rocker box is now de-stressed as much as possible and may safely be removed.


3. Break the torque on the two bottom rocker-box bolts closest to the pushrods, but do not loosen more than a half-turn. Break the torque on the two bottom rocker-box bolts opposite the pushrods and remove them completely. Finish backing off and removing the pushrod side bolts. Back them off, one turn at a time, until the pushrod load is released from the rockers, then back them off fully. Lift the bottom rocker box assembly from the engine.


4. Scrape any remaining gasket material from the mating surface on the top of the cylinder head. Clean and dry the mating surface, and then install the new gaskets. Tighten the bottom rocker-box mounting bolts opposite the pushrods finger-tight. Insure that the pushrod ends are properly nested into the rocker-arm cups. Install and torque the pushrod side bolts to factory spec, then torque the opposite side bolts to factory spec.


5. Install the new rubber seal into its groove and ensure that it lays flat and is not rolled at any point. Lay the spacer into position and install the top rubber seal. Rotate the rear tire until the rear cylinder valves are on overlap. The front cylinder will now be in position for removal. Position the top rocker-box cover and reinstall the mounting bolts. Torque to factory specification for your model of Harley. Repeat the process on the front cylinder.


6. Reinstall the gas tank(s), petcock fuel line, vaccuum line and fuel crossover tube.

Check Coil Packs With A Voltage Meter

Checking your coil packs may forestall future engine problems.


A faulty coil may fire intermittently, produce a weak spark or kill a cylinder completely. Coils are sensitive to heat and may produce an intermittent problem if their internal components become weak. Once the winding inside weakens or breaks, the problem is irreversible. However, you can test the coil pack on your car using a voltmeter.


Instructions


1. Park your car in a safe place and open the hood.


2. Locate the coil pack in your engine by following the spark plug wires from the spark plugs; the wires are connected to the coil pack. Depending on your particular vehicle model, you may find the coil pack mounted on one side or the back of the engine.


3. Unplug the spark plug wires from the coil and label the wires if necessary for proper installation.


4. Unplug the pack's electrical connector and remove the coil pack from the engine, using a wrench or ratchet and socket if necessary. If your coil pack is mounted on the back of the engine, raise the front of the vehicle and safely support it on two jack stands to reach the coil pack from underneath the engine.


5. Set your ohmmeter to the 20000 ohms range. Turn on your meter and touch the spark plug wire terminals on one of the coils with the meter leads. You may get a reading between 5000 to 15000 ohms, depending on your particular model. This checks the secondary resistance.


6. Set your ohmmeter to the 10 ohms range, and touch the terminal B+ (usually the center prong on the coil pack electrical connector) with one of the meter test leads, and touch the corresponding coil prong on the electrical connector with the other test lead. You may get a reading between 0.3 and 1.0 or more, depending on your particular model. This checks the primary resistance on each coil.


7. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for each coil in the pack assembly, and compare your resistance readings to the specifications given on your vehicle service manual (see "Tips"). If your readings are out of range, replace the coil or coils as necessary.

With a history dating back to the late 1940s, the Hell's Angels is an exclusive club consisting of Harley Davidson motorcycle riders only. The club's members are found all over the world, and many have reputations of running afoul of the law. If you'd like to hang out with the Hell's Angels, here's do it.


Instructions


1. Educate yourself about motorcycles and Hell's Angels' history. You relate more easily to club members if you can talk their lingo.


2. Attend a Hell's Angels event. Go to the Hell's Angels website for more information. Events include parties, concerts, charity fundraisers, bike shows and rides. There are many chapters of the Hell's Angels based in different cities, and events are organized by local chapters.


3. Go to a bar where Hell's Angels are likely to be. When a Hell's Angels' event is scheduled, the club members are found in the town's bars where the event is held. Some club members have even rented out whole bars just for themselves, but other times their motto is "the more, the merrier."


4. Be non-confrontational. To hang out with the Hell's Angels and be welcome by them, you must have a positive attitude towards them.


5. Look for groups of Harley Davidson riders wearing leather jackets with the club logo on them. You can find club members relaxing and eating out at restaurants like anyone else.

What Are The Specs On A Vtx1800

With its development kept under wraps for five years, the Honda VTX 1800 finally emerged from secrecy in 2002. Hook Up A Hdtv To Stereo Speakers

Hooking up stereo speakers to an HDTV requires a set of self-powered speakers such as the small units for a computer. These have internal amplifiers and require a separate electrical outlet. Self-powered speakers are necessary to prevent a drain on the TV's internal amplifier, which is not designed to provide power to external speakers.


Instructions


1. Plug a set of RCA cables into the audio Output jacks on the back of the HDTV using the white plug for the left channel and the red plug for the right.


2. Plug the opposite ends of the cables into the two jacks on the miniplug adapter.


3. Plug the miniplug adapter into the audio jack on the back of the right-channel speaker. This is the speaker that also has a power jack for the AC adapter that plugs into a wall outlet.


4. Connect the audio cable from the left-channel speaker to the remaining audio jack on the back of the right speaker. This jack is labeled "L," for "left."


5. Connect the speakers' AC adapter to a wall outlet and switch them on to hear stereo sound from the HDTV.

Wire A 15 Amp 220 Volt Outlet

A 220-volt circuit supplies twice the voltage of a standard one. The holes of the receptacle, as well as the prongs on the plugs of appliances you use in these circuits, are configured differently so that you can identify them. The receptacle for a 15-amp 220-volt circuit looks almost the same as that for a standard 110-volt grounded circuit, except that the flat prongs are horizontal instead of vertical. You need two hot wires to power it, so if the circuit is already installed, make the white wire hot and connect it to a separate circuit breaker. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions


1. Turn off the power to the circuit by shutting the breaker off in the panel.


2. Disconnect the old 110-volt receptacle, if there is one. Remove the outlet cover, unscrew the receptacle from the electrical box and disconnect the wires by loosening the screws with a screwdriver. If the wires are inserted into holes behind the screws, snip them with wire cutters. Strip ½-inch off the ends of the black and white wires with a wire stripper.


3. Prepare the circuit wires if an outlet is not already connected to the circuit, by removing sheathing from the cable with a utility knife and stripping ½-inch of insulation from the black and white wires.


4. Connect the black and white wires to the two brass terminals on the outlet. Wrap red tape around the white wire to signify that it is now a hot wire. Connect the ground wire to the ground terminal. Push the wires into the electrical box, screw the outlet to the box and screw on the cover plate.


5. Turn off the main breaker in the panel and pry off the circuit breaker that was controlling the circuit. Remove the black wire by unscrewing the lug and pulling it out. Remove the white wire from the lug to which it is connected on the neutral bus of the panel and wrap red tape around it. Be careful while working in the panel. Use insulated tools and don't touch the brass or copper bus bars. They are hot and can deliver a fatal shock.


6. Connect the black and white (now red) wires to separate terminals on a double-gang 15-amp circuit breaker. Turn the switches off and snap the breaker onto the panel anywhere two adjacent slots are available. Identify the new circuit on the cover of the panel and flip the switches back on.

Become A Harley Mechanic

The Harley-Davidson Co. prides itself on constructing sturdy, top-of-the-line motorcycles that both the novice and experienced rider can enjoy. Harley-Davidson motorcycles have complex engineering, which means you'll need to take classes specifically designed for Harley-Davidson cycles to become a Harley mechanic. 3. Insert the tail portion into the gap in the speed sock. Pull the tail portion down toward your back to tighten the speed sock to comfortably fit your head. Alternatively, you can pull the tail portion back through the gap a second time and tie it off.

Lace Motorcycle Rims

Upgrade your motorcyle's performance with new wheels. Unfortunately, it can be an expensive upgrade with pre-built wheels. Building your own wheels is a great way to learn something new about your bike, and save a few dollars in the process.


Instructions


Lacing The Wheel


1. Lay out your materials. If your wheel needs to be dished (in the case of a drum brake, most likely) be sure to separate the two different lengths of spokes.


2. Choose a hole on your hub, and slide a spoke through the hub flange from the outside. These inward-facing spokes will be your "leading spokes."


3. Leave one open space and slide another spoke through. Repeat this step on both sides of the hub until every other hole has an inward-facing spoke in it.


4. Choose one of the empty flange holes, and slide a spoke through from the inside. These outward-facing spokes will be your "trailing spokes."


5. In the next open space, slide another trailing spoke through the hub flange. Repeat this step until every hole on the hub has a spoke in it. This is called a "loaded hub."


6. Choose one of your leading spokes (the ones on the inside), and slide it through a hole on the correct side of the rim.


7. Thread a spoke nipple onto the end of the spoke and twist it until you can no longer see the spoke threading. Skip three rim holes and repeat this process for each leading spoke.


8. When all of your leading spokes are in place, the hub will twist to center itself in the rim. Attach the first trailing spoke in the opposite direction. The spoke should only properly fit in one hole on the rim.


9. Attach the remaining trailing spokes.


Truing The Wheel


10. Use a spoke wrench to bring each spoke to a similar level of tension. A spoke tension meter will help you toward a more even wheel tension.


11. Put the wheel in place on the motorcycle's fork or swing arm.


12. Attach a zip-tie to each leg of the fork or swing arm. Be sure they are the same height as the edge of the rim and measure to be sure they are both the same length.


13. Spin the wheel slowly, and observe spots where the rim rubs the zip tie on only one side. In these spots, tighten the spoke opposite the rub until the rub disappears.


14. Take your wheel off of the motorcycle, install a tire and tube, and take the wheel for a "shakedown ride." When you return, check that the wheel is still true and evenly tensioned. Use a spoke wrench to make any final adjustments.

Replace A Wheel Stud In A Chevy Silverado

When one wheel stud goes, the others get extra stress and have a potential to break also. You need to replace the wheel stud in your Chevy Silverado as soon as you realize the stud is broken. It requires some mechanical skill. You also have to have the right tools, some strength and a good memory to get the parts back on the vehicle correctly.


Instructions


1. Purchase a new stud for your truck. When you replace the stud on the Silverado, you need the same size stud. GM does make a shorter one that does the job, as long as the width is the same. Take the stud with you to the store if you don't know the size.


2. Look behind the passenger's seat in the regular cab Silverado for the jack and jacking tools. They're under the second row seat on the passenger's side on the extended and crew cab.


3. Jack up the truck. Some models have disc brakes in the rear and others have drum brakes. If the stud is on a wheel with disc brakes, remove the caliper without disconnecting the brake line and hang it from mechanic's wire. Take off the rotor. Remove the drum for drum brakes.


4. Check behind the wheel hub and see if you can find the head of the stud. If you can, or if you find an opening to line up the stud, skip to Step 5. Otherwise, you need to remove the hub, or get one of the shorter stud replacements and cut off the end of the stud to remove it.


5. Whack the stud on the end with a mallet to drive it out. If you cut it off, you may need to put a rod on the stud and strike it. Put a new stud in its place. Push so some threads of the stud come through on the front.


6. Twist a wheel bolt on and tighten down the bolt with an impact wrench if you have one. As you tighten down the wheel bolt, it pulls the stud through the hub. You'll need to add extra bolts as the stud comes out further.


7. Unscrew the bolts that you used to replace the stud on your Silverado. Reassemble the parts and put on the wheel. Tighten down the nut to finish the job.

2. Cut a 3-inch-wide belt from the black cloth. Measure the correct amount for the belt by wrapping it around the waist of the person wearing the costume. Glue the Velcro attachments to each end of the belt. Cut a 2-inch-wide choker for the neck out of the same material. Glue the Velcro attachments to each end of the choker. This should fasten at the back of the neck.


3. Hot glue the police badge to the middle of the front blue cap. Paint the brim of the hat with black fabric paint if it is not black already already. Hot glue a police badge on the left upper right of the breast.


4. Finish off the costume with a pair of knee high black boots or black high heels. Another added sexy touch can be the addition of fishnet stockings.

What Is a Derby Cover?


A derby cover is a metal plate, usually made out of sheet steel, used to cover the clutch of motorcycles. Its main utility is to protect the workings of the clutch from possibly harmful dust and other possible contaminates.


Custom Design


Custom designed derby plates are quite common on Harley Davidson motorcycles, as they promote the individuality and free spirit associated with these machines. The design engraved on the plate is typically selected by the bike's owner with special symbolic expression in mind. For example, if the rider is a die -hard Harley aficionado, there is a wide selection of chrome derby plates engraved with the assorted Harley insignias. The classic Derby cover is made of simple smooth finished chrome free of any engravings.


Models and Prices


Typically derby covers are offered in three-hole or five-hole models, depending on the specifications of the bike it is being connected to. The five-hole cover is thought to offer more durability and protection (Wilson and Rafferty, 2001). As there is a wide assortment of derby covers to choose from there is also a wide range of prices. Since derby covers are situated in an easily accessible part of the bike, they are relatively simple to change. Instructions


1. Wash your golf cart. Clean any dirt or grime off of the surface you wish to paint.


2. Use the screwdriver to remove any objects such as mirrors or logos that you do not wish to paint.


3. Sand the surfaces you wish to paint using the sandpaper. Use coarse grit sandpaper to rough out any large imperfections. Use fine grit sandpaper to finish the entire surface, making it smooth. Wipe any dust off with the towel.


4. Apply the painter's tape around the edges of the surface that will be painted. Cover anything that you do not want to paint. Use a large sheet or piece of plastic to cover the seats and dashboard of the cart.


5. Apply two to three coats of acrylic paint primer using the paint sprayer. Allow each coat to dry at least 30 minutes before applying the next coat. Allow the final coat to dry for at least one hour before beginning the next step. Use fine grit sandpaper to lightly sand any paint bubbles smooth that may have occurred.


6. Apply three to five coats of the acrylic paint color of your choice using the paint sprayer. Allow each coat to dry at least 30 minutes before applying the next coat. Allow the final coat to dry for at least one hour before beginning the next step.


7. Apply at least two thin coats of acrylic paint sealer using the paint sprayer. Allow each coat to dry at least 30 minutes before applying the next. Allow the final coat of sealer to dry at least 24 hours.


8. Remove all painter's tape from the golf cart. Touch up any areas you may have missed using a small paintbrush. Use the screwdriver to replace any objects you removed before painting.

Change Sportster Tires


Personifying the original bad-boy attitude, Harley-Davidson's Sportster motorcycle has been the favored ride for many motorcyclists since the late '50s. Light and nimble, the Sportster can make quick work of a long stretch of highway. However, spirited riding gives the bike an appetite for fresh rubber, highlighting the need to replace the tires often. While the task is not difficult to accomplish, be sure to have the proper tools and a service manual, which will detail the wheel removal and installation process.


Instructions


Tire Removal


1. Place your Sportster on a stand and remove the wheel from the motorcycle, following the instructions detailed by your service manual.


2. Deflate the tire by removing the valve stem core then break the bead, or the seal between the tire and wheel, using a bread breaker tool. Place the wheel on its side, using wooden blocks to support it. Spray the outer edge of the tire with soapy water.


3. Press down firmly along the entire side of the tire to loosen it enough to insert your rim protectors between the tire and rim. Place the protectors in the 11 and 12 o'clock positions then slide the curved end of the tire irons past the rim protectors and under the edge of the tire.


4. Press down on the tire irons to stretch the edge of the tire over the lip of the rim. Holding the 11 o'clock tire iron in place, remove the 12 o'clock tire iron from under the tire and place it in the 1 o'clock position. Push down on the 1 o'clock tire iron to stretch the tire over the rim. Remove the tire irons and pull the remaining lip of the tire off of the rim. This will leave the tire attached to the rim by only one side.


5. Pull out the inner tube, if any, and spray the inner lip of the tire with soapy water.


6. Slide a rim protector between the rim and the inner lip of the tire. Insert a tire iron between the tire and rim and stand the wheel upright. Pull the tire iron towards you as you hold the rim. The tire should pop completely off of the rim.


Tire Installation


7. Spray soapy water onto the rim and the inside of the new tire, then slip a portion of the edge of the new tire around the rim. Place your rim protector between the tire and rim and use a tire iron to pull the remaining lip of the tire onto the rim.


8. Inflate your new inner tube partially to prevent it from twisting and slide it into the new tire. Rotate the tire on the rim to align the balance mark, a small mark on the sidewall of the tire, with the valve stem. Push the tire down onto the rim until the other side of the tire almost touches the rim.


9. Insert the inner tube's valve stem through the mounting hole on the rim and secure with the valve stem's lock nut.


10. Spray the outer lip of the tire with soapy water and slide your rim protector between the tire and rim. Pull the remaining lip of the tire onto the rim with a tire iron.


11. Inflate the inner tube to 56 psi (pounds per square inch) using an air compressor to set the tire's bead. Two loud pops will indicate that the beads have been set properly.


12. Deflate the tire slightly and adjust the tire pressure according to the recommended value set by your service or owner's manual.


13. Balance the wheel and reinstall it on your Sportster.

Disassemble Hd Fairing

The fairing, below the windshield on this motorcycle, can be disassembled.


Disassembling a Harley-Davidson fairing involves a few tools, your least favorite flannel shirt, a small square of thick cardboard and about two hours of your time. The fairing should be thought of as two parts--the outer fairing, which always faces your destination, and the inner fairing, which always faces you.


Instructions


1. Fold a flannel shirt over your front fender to preserve the paint and the chrome.


2. Remove seven screws with a Torx driver--the three screws just under the windshield on the outer fairing, and the two screws above each wind deflector on the left and right side of the inner fairing.


3. Turn the handlebar all the way left to access the fairing screw under the right fairing cap, and all the way right to access the fairing screw under the left fairing cap. Remove both screws with a Torx socket, socket extension and socket wrench.


4. Straddle the front fender and gently pull the outer fairing toward you. Squeeze together both sides of the clip on the back of the head light assembly with your fingers. Lift the fairing first, then the windshield off the front of the motorcycle.


5. Disconnect the turn signal and high-low beam connectors from the front wiring harness. Loosen and remove the passing lamp bracket from the fork brackets with a Torx socket, socket extension and socket wrench.


6. Put the key in the ignition, switch the key to "unlock" and rotate the ignition assembly knob to "access."


7. Release the ignition knob by depressing the ignition knob release tab with a flat-head screwdriver and turning the key counterclockwise. Pull the knob up and set aside.


8. Loosen then remove the switch nut hardware from the threaded switch nut stud with a socket wrench, socket extension and an open-end socket. Pull the chrome inner fairing trim from the inner fairing.


9. Unlock the clutch cable adjuster locknut from the clutch cable adjuster nut with two combination wrenches. Spin the clutch cable adjuster nut with your fingers until the clutch cable is completely slack.


10. Remove clutch hand-control pivot pin retaining ring on the bottom of the clutch hand-control bracket and the hand-control pivot pin with a flat-head screwdriver. Unbolt the clutch hand-control bracket from the left handlebar with a Torx socket, socket extension and socket wrench.


11. Unhook the clutch cable from the hand control and remove the anchor pin. Push the clutch cable through the clutch cable grommet from the inner fairing to the front of the motorcycle.


12. Stick a 1/8-inch-thick square of cardboard between the front-brake hand control and the front-brake hand-control bracket to protect the small, mechanical components of the brake-light relay inside the front brake hand-control bracket.


13. Remove the right handlebar switch housing and rear brake master cylinder with a Torx driver.


14. Pry the throttle from the end of the handlebar with a screwdriver and unhook the two throttle cables from the throttle. Push the throttle cables through the throttle cables' grommet from the inner fairing to the front of the motorcycle.


15. Unplug the cigarette lighter quick-connect from the front wiring harness. Disconnect the speaker adapters on both sides of the inner fairing with a socket wrench, Torx socket and socket extension.


16. Disconnect the fuel gauge and voltmeter from the front wiring harness. Loosen and remove the four socket head screws that join the fairing bracket and the inner fairing with a Torx socket, socket extension and socket wrench.


17.Pry and lift both the inner fairing and the fairing bracket off the fairing bracket mounting pins. Pry the fairing bracket and inner fairing apart, and remove the inner fairing.

Replace A Road Glide Stator

The stator is inside the primary case, shown behind the footboard.


Modern Harley-Davidson motorcycles are a lot more reliable than vintage models. One problem that does seem to crop up occasionally, though, is stator failure. The symptoms are the engine misfires and stalls, after which the starter will not turn the engine over. If the battery accepts a charge and then the engine starts and runs, followed by a repeat of the initial problem, you may have a bad stator.


Instructions


1. Loosen the clutch cable adjustment as much as possible. Refer to the directions in the manual.


2. Remove the drain plug at the bottom of the primary case. Drain the oil into the drain pan.


3. Remove all of the bolts that hold the primary cover. Do not forget the four bolts in the center of the cover. Remove the cover. Be careful not to tear the gasket.


4. Put the transmission in fifth gear. Apply the rear brake and fasten it with the ratchet strap. Turn the jam nut on the clutch drum counterclockwise to loosen it with a 1-1/8-inch socket. Remove the lock-ring and adjuster plate.


5. Remove the two small bolts on the chain adjuster and allow it to swing out of the way.


6. Jam the plastic wedge between the chain and front compensator sprocket to prevent the sprocket from turning. Place a 1-1/2-inch socket on the nut in the center of the sprocket and turn clockwise with a breaker bar to remove it. Slide the sprocket and clutch drum off along with the primary chain.


7. Remove the bolt from the center of the starter jackshaft and pull the jackshaft off. Remove the bolts holding the inner primary case. Loosen the two screws that hold the starter to the primary case. Remove the primary case.


8. Pull the rotor off. Unplug the stator connector. Remove the screws that hold the stator and pull it off. Replace it with the new stator, and reassemble all parts in the reverse order of disassembly.


9. Refill the primary case with oil. Follow directions in the service manual to readjust the clutch cable.

Do An Oil Change On A Harley Davidson Sportster

Since gas prices are very high, a motorcycle is a cheaper option these days. If you want a smaller, yet still powerful, motorcycle, then a Harley Davidson Sportster is an excellent choice of bike. Maintenance can still be expensive, but there are quite a few repairs and upkeep tasks that you can do on your own. Changing the oil is one of those tasks; a bit of practice will make you a professional.


Instructions


Change the Oil on a Harley Davidson Sportster


1. Find the oil plug. It is usually on the bottom of the oil pan. Put your bucket or pan under it so that oil doesn't spill onto the floor. The owner's manual will tell you find it if you have trouble.


2. Unscrew the oil plug. Make sure the motorcycle has cooled down before you do this, so that the oil is not hot. Now, allow your oil to drain into your pan. This should take five to 10 minutes.


3. Remove the old crush washer, which is located on the plug. Replace it with a new washer. The crush washer has to be replaced every oil change; otherwise, your motorcycle might leak oil.


4. Clean the end of the oil plug. On older engines, it is common for slivers of metal to flake off of the oil plug, so be careful while performing this step.


5. Use an oil filter wrench to remove the oil filter. When you have the filter off, check to find out if the o-ring, (the rubber ring around the oil filter that ensures a proper seal) came off with the oil filter. If it is still attached, remove it manually.


6. Take out and clean off the plastic mesh filter from the side of the engine case. When it is clean, replace it.


7. Check the drain plug, and if there is any sludge on it, wipe it off with a rag.


8. Using your hand, not a tool, screw the new oil filter into place. Using a tool for this can overtighten the oil filter and damage the o-ring.


9. Hold a funnel at an upright angle and pour two quarts of fresh oil in. Give the oil a few minutes to work through the engine.


10. Screw the plug back in, then turn on your engine and let it idle for a couple minutes. Turn off the engine, remove the oil plug, and put in the rest of the oil.

As TV technology advances, the number of options becomes increasingly bewildering. At the top of the list for most new TVs is HD (high definition) capacity: the ability to display high-definition programming with the sharpness and clarity for which it is intended. A number of TVs are HD ready, but how can you tell which ones they are? Advertising and salesmen can sometimes obscure the issue. Some telltale signs can help clue you in and ensure that you get the HD-ready TV you want.

1. Understand the difference between HD and digital. A digital TV is simply one set up to receive digital programming--which all U.S. television stations will broadcast by summer 2009. Digital programming can still come in at a lower resolution than HD, however, and while all HDTVs are digital, not all digital TVs are HD. Make sure you know the distinction before you buy.


2. Check the front of the TV or the owner's manual for a small sign reading "HD Ready." That's the quickest and easiest way to settle the issue.


3. Check the TV's resolution number. Resolution is displayed in a number, followed by the letter "p" or "i." The number tells you how many horizontal lines your TV screen can hold. The "i" stands for "interlaced," which means your image flickers back and forth between one half of the lines and the other half (the image looks fine, but it results in the "flicker" effect displayed by many TVs). The "p" stands for "progressive," which means that every line on your TV is used to display the image. Standard definition TVs have a resolution of 480i (480 horizontal lines on the screen, delivered in interlaced form.) Higher resolution TVs provide resolution of 480p, 720i, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. A true HDTV will offer 1080p or 1080i resolution. You can find the resolution listing in the owner's manual under the number of vertical pixels on the screen.

In the summer, it's hard to resist the temptation to bronze your body. Some prefer to tan naturally in the sunlight, while others frequent tanning beds or apply self-tanners to achieve their perfect shade. However, there are times when you accidentally end up with an uneven tan, whether it's from bathing suit straps, a farmer's tan or uneven self-tanner application. With today's endless self-tanning and bronzing products, it's easy to fix these tan blunders quickly. Follow these steps and you'll have a beautifully even tan in no time. Does this Spark an idea?

Fixing an Uneven Natural Tan


1. Assess which areas of your skin you need to even out. If your tan is uneven because you have many different bathing suit styles that create different strap lines, it may be worth it to invest in bathing suits with the same strap styles. To eliminate strap lines altogether, a strapless bathing suit is the best choice.


2. Apply sunscreen with a high SPF to the area of your skin that is already tanned, being careful to apply directly up to the line where your tan ends and the uneven lines begin. This will prevent this area from getting more tan while you try to "catch up" the untanned areas.


3. Apply a sunscreen with a lower SPF to the untanned areas of your skin. While it may seem counter-intuitive to put sunscreen on the area you want to get darker, it will prevent these areas from burning and peeling back to the original lighter shade.


4. Expose yourself to the sun as you do normally, and with this sunscreen combination, your skin will be evened out in about a few days to a week. If you need faster results, you may need to go to a tanning bed in a salon.


Fixing an Uneven Self-Tan


5. Check your skin to see where you need to even out your tan. Figure out why your tan is uneven -- are you applying the self-tanning cream unevenly? Are you applying it right before you go to bed, so it smears in the night? Understanding why your tan is uneven can help you prevent it from happening in the future.


6. Exfoliate your entire body, using a store-bought product or a homemade sugar scrub. The pigment from the self-tanner is mainly in the top level of your skin cells, so removing this level will bring you closer to your original shade.


7. Reapply the self-tanner, being sure to apply it evenly over all areas of skin. Ask a friend for help if it is difficult reaching tricky areas, such as your back. Be sure to give the self-tanner enough time to absorb fully before putting on clothes or getting in bed, as disturbing it prematurely can cause it to smear, leaving your tan uneven and blotchy.

Fix Samsung Dlp Tv

Unplug everything prior to working on your Samsung DLP TV.


A Samsung DLP TV projects a high-quality picture; unfortunately, after about two years, the picture starts to fade and eventually dies out completely. The TV will also start to shut off with no warning after a few minutes. The two problems are well known throughout the Samsung community and, fortunately, can be resolved with some do-it-yourself fixes.


Instructions


1. Unplug all of your components from your Samsung DLP TV and unplug the TV from the wall. Make sure your TV has been off for several hours and is completely cool before you start poking around. You can then safely take the back panel off by following the instructions in your owner's manual for your particular model.


2. Check to see if your emergency switch is the problem. One of the most common reasons that the Samsung DLP TV stops working is that the emergency switch on the back gets caught in the wrong position and makes your TV turn off. You need to get the blue switch to catch under the lamp cover door. Shut the door part way, and then use a pencil to depress the switch so it catches under the door.


3. Try to get the dust out of the back if emergency switch is not the problem. Use a small vacuum tool or cotton swabs and try to pull out as much dust as possible, especially around the cooling fan. A can of compressed air will also work effectively. Another reason your Samsung DLP TV might be turning off is that it is overheating. Too much dust can cause this issue. If you find that your TV works after you clean it out, start cleaning it every three months or so to prevent the issue from happening again.


4. Check your TV's timer. Another thing you can do, if the TV will stay on long enough, is ensure that you do not have a timer set to make it turn off. It sounds silly, but it could be the cause.


5. Reset the lamp. If none of these things work, there is one more thing you can try before replacing the lamp. Pull the lamp out (follow the pictures in your manual for replacing the lamp). Clean behind the lamp to get all the dust out and reinstall the lamp, making sure all the connections are clean and secure.

Get Sound On Tv Using Hdmi Cables

HDMI cables allow users to attach all of their audio and video functions with only a single cable connection. If you attach HDMI cables to your TV, you can avoid the entire mess of multiple wires while receiving crisp and clear audio signals.


Instructions


1. Check if your output device (stereo, DVD player, etc.) offers an HDMI slot. Then check if your input device (TV) also offers an HDMI port. An HDMI port looks like the picture shown here.

4. Check your TV's manual for HDMI information if sound is not playing from your TV at this point. Some TVs require that HDMI is turned on from the phone's menu sections. The settings must be turned on so that HDMI can vary from TV to TV.

Enter your full street address, city, state and zip code, answer the questions that follow and click "Submit." View the map showing your location and click "Continue." Scroll down the list of stations. Select the link under antenna type for the station of your choice to learn the recommended antenna. For indoors, select an antenna with both "rabbit ears" and a loop, or a flat-surface antenna designated for HDTV.


3. Connect your antenna to the coaxial, or antenna, input of your television. Direct the outdoor antenna as recommended by the station table on AntennaWeb for the station you wish to view. Place an indoor antenna close to a window or an open or high area of your home.


4. Go to the channel scan feature on your television. Scan for stations. Those you receive will appear with the call letters and virtual channel number, such as 3.1 or 3-001. Readjust your antenna's direction or location as needed. Rescan your television when you adjust or change an antenna.


HDTV through cable or satellite


5. Component cable


Purchase an HDTV or HDTV-ready or capable monitor with an input for high-definition media interface (HDMI) cables or component video cables. Obtain a cable box or satellite receiver that can receive HD channels.


6. Contact your cable or satellite provider. Subscribe to a cable or satellite package with HD channels.


7. Connect the wall outlet to the "cable-in" slot on your cable box or satellite receiver. Insert one end of component cables (red, blue, green) into the "OUT 1" jacks on your box and the other into "HD 1" or component "1" on your television. If you have HDMI cables, place each end into the port on the box and television.

Make A Bicycle Safety Poster

Bicycle helmets are an important part of bicycle safety.


Bicycle death and injury statistics may alarm you. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's National Bike Helmet Use Survey, roughly 900 people are killed each year in bicycle crashes, while approximately 567,000 people visit hospitals for bicycle-related injuries.


Make a comprehensive bicycle safety poster to display as an important reminder to exercise bicycle safety---and hopefully avoid becoming a bicycle-related injury or death statistic.


Instructions


1. Research bicycle safety tips online or at the library. Organize your research into three sections: helmet safety, visibility and basic bicycle safety tips---the largest section which should include any bicycle safety information outside of helmets and visibility.


2. Create a main title for your bicycle safety poster. Use markers or a large word processing font to print the title on unlined paper. Cut out the main title and glue it to the top of your poster board.


3. Create titles for each bicycle safety section. Print the titles and cut out. Glue the basic tips section title in the center of the poster board underneath the main title. Glue the helmet safety and visibility section titles on either side of the basic tips section.


4. Organize your researched sections into lists. List ways to ensure proper helmet fit and wear. List tips on being visible to motorists. List basic bicycle safety tips.


5. Write or print the lists on unlined paper. Glue the lists underneath their appropriate section titles.


6. Cut out bicycle-related photos or drawings. Glue the photos or drawings to the poster board to fill in blank spaces and complement the poster's information.
