Instructions


1. If you have not removed the MyHeritage toolbar, celebrity toolbar, or celebrity look-alike toolbar, please scroll down to the resource section of this article and click on Remove MyHeritage Toolbar. Follow the instructions and come back to this article to remove the MyHeritage search powered by Google. If you have already removed the toolbar, continue to step 2.


2. Open a new tab in your web browser or print these instructions.


3. In a fresh window, type "about:config" in the address bar and press enter.


4. Some browsers (Firfox) will display a warning, press the "I'll be careful, I promise" button.


5. After you click the button a list of all sorts of files will be displayed.


6. Type "keyword.url" into the filter box. The file containing the offending command will appear. Highlight this row by clicking on it.

Diagnose Tree Fungus

Diagnose tree fungus early to prevent damage.


Fungal infections in trees are caused by fungi spores that attach themselves to the tree and begin to grow. Fungal infections most often occur at areas of injury to the tree, such as broken branches, gouges or, sometimes, areas of pruning. Fungal infections can occur on the leaves of the tree as well as the trunk and branches. Diagnosing tree fungus early is critical to controlling it. If not treated quickly, the fungus will spread and can eventually kill the tree. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


1. Examine the woody sections of tree branches and look for dark brown or black spots on it. The dark spots are sometimes moist to the touch if the fungal infection is new. If these spots are present, it indicates the presence of a condition called sooty canker. This condition is also characterized by bark that falls off of the tree to reveal black spots on the underlying wood.


2. Examine the tops and bottoms of the leaves of the tree and look for tiny black fungal spots which indicate the presence of mildew on the tree. These dots look just like mildew that occurs inside a home or on wet fabric, so they are easy to identify.


3. Look at the tops of the tree leaves for a fine, white, powdery substance that looks like powdered sugar. This is a fungal condition called powdery mildew and occurs during spring or fall when the temperatures are between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.


4. Look at the main trunk of the tree for signs of a fungal infection called canker. Canker spots frequently look like bumps in the tree bark because the tree attempts to heal itself by growing over the canker. The bark is usually split and the black colored canker wood is visible underneath it.

Replace The Valve Cover Gaskets On A Harley Davidson Evo Blockhead Engine

The valve cover gasket on a Harley-Davidson Evo Blockhead engine is traditionally called the rocker cover gasket. However, the gasket works the same way a valve cover gasket works on an automobile, acting as a seal between the rocker cover and the rocker box. The valves are inside the rocker box. If the gasket leaks, oil will leak through the seal and the engine will lose compression.


Instructions


1. Remove the four bolts that secure the rocker cover onto the rocker box using a 12-point socket and ratchet. On some models, the rocker boxes may have Allen head bolts. If your Evo engine has them, use an Allen wrench.


2. Pull the rocker cover off the rocker box.


3. Pull the metal gasket off the rocker box and wipe the mating surface of the rocker cover and the rocker box with a clean rag.


4. Place the new metal gasket onto the rocker box and line up the holes for the bolts.


5. Place the rocker cover onto the rocker box and secure it using the four bolts, 12-point socket and ratchet.


6. Duplicate the process on the second cylinder if the rocker gasket leaks on that cylinder.

Remove The Baffles In Vance Hines Straight Shot Slipons

Open-exhaust motorcycles are illegal in most communities.


Removing the baffles from a set of Vance and Hines Straight Shot exhaust pipes is a modification that should not be undertaken lightly. Not only will running open exhaust pipes cause you to lose significant amounts of low-end power, but the bike will subsequently be loud to the point of annoyance and illegal for street use in many communities. Vance and Hines produces tuned baffles, however, that you can replace your stock baffles with to obtain the sound you're looking for while retaining your motorcycle's power. Replacement baffles are installed in Straight Shot exhausts in the opposite way from which they are removed.


Instructions


1. Remove the heat shield from the exhaust pipe by loosening the compression fitting located between the exhaust header and the muffler. With the compression fitting removed, the head shield slips out of the way.


2. Remove the screw that holds the baffle in place on the exhaust pipe. This screw is located approximately 4 inches from the end of the exhaust outlet on the bottom of the pipe.


3. Grip the flange of the baffle with the needle nose pliers and pull it straight back out of the exhaust pipe. If it feels stuck, use a rubber mallet to smack the side of the exhaust pipe until you can work the baffle free. Do the same with the second exhaust pipe, as well.

Ensuing debates about global warming and rising gas costs have led many consumers toward alternative ways of fueling their vehicles. Electronic cars are slowly approaching the horizon, and electric motorcycles are currently being sold. People are also retrofitting their fuel motorcycles into electric motorcycles at minimal cost. Many supplies can be found at your local hardware store, online stores and eBay. The process usually takes a weekend for those who dedicate the time.


Essential Parts


Electric motor


The motor in a standard motorcycle is made to perform with gas and oil, whereas your electric motor will run strictly off a charge and electricity. The costs for electric motors vary. For example, the Perm PMG-132 electric motor can be found online for approximately $1000.


Approximately 4 lithium ion batteries


Lithium batteries are becoming increasingly popular in the electronic realm because it takes many years before they need to be replaced. Consider 12-volt batteries. Visit your local hardware store for lithium batteries.


Secondary Essential Supplies


PWM controller


PWM (pulse-width modulation) controllers provide an efficient way of sending certain amounts of electrical power to the motorcycle when it is neither fully on nor fully off. This will keep the motorcycle from being unnecessarily overheated and prevent a misuse of energy. You can find PWM controllers online at costs as low as $20.


5K Potentionmeter


This product will convert the throttle that came with your fuel motorcycle into an electric version. It may be challenging to find. Use resources like eBay.com and online conversion supply stores (see Resources).


Basic Supplies


48V AC charger


Your electric motorcycle will charge by plugging it into a regular outlet. The 40V AC charger is more than enough to charge a motorcycle. You can find the AC charger at a local hardware store like Home Depot or Lowe's.


48-12-volt down converters


The down converter will distribute additional electricity for the lights and the horn to function properly. You can find this product at your local hardware store.


Number 4 welding cable and lugs


Your welding cable and lugs are used to connect some of the main components to the chassis of your electric motorcycle.


Custom sprockets


Customs sprockets may be necessary depending on the specific type of motorcycle you purchase to convert. Search online for custom sprocket manufacturing (see Resources). Sprockets should be found under "gears" when performing a search.

2006 Harley Davidson Flhxi Specifications

The 2006 Harley-Davidson FLHXI Street Glide is a touring motorcycle. It was available in black, black pearl, black cherry and blue colors. A brand new bike cost around $17,795. The motorcycle featured a wind deflector in the front, a batwing fairing, hard saddlebags, an audio system, full fenders, covered fork tubes, engine and saddlebag guards, and rider floorboards.


Dimensions

Remove Stock Baffles

Depending on the motorcycle and the exhaust manufacturer, muffler baffles are held in place by one or two screws in the bottom of the muffler. These are usually Allen head screws, which may be obscured by a heat shield. The baffles on other stock mufflers, including Harley-Davidson's, are welded in place; to get the baffle out you have to cut or break the weld.


Instructions


1. Remove the heat shields from both mufflers by loosening the shield clamps with a flathead screwdriver. Inspect the mufflers -- and end caps, if the mufflers have end caps -- for Allen head screws.


2. Remove any Allen head screws in the mufflers with an Allen wrench. In order to remove the stock baffles you must permanently modify your mufflers, by cutting them, if you don't find any screws.


3. Cut the welds that secure the end cap to the end of one of the mufflers, if so equipped, using a rotary cutting tool. Remove the end cap with pliers after cutting the welds.


4. Tighten a 1 3/4 hole saw in the chuck of an electric drill if the baffle is welded into the muffler shell rather than secured with a baffle screw. Insert the hole saw into the exhaust end of the muffler. Cut the weld with the hole saw.


5. Remove the hole saw and drill. Pull the baffle from the muffler with a pair of pliers.


6. Cut the welds on the second muffler using the same procedure.

Installation Of A Harley Davidson Derby Cover

Replacing the round derby cover can lend a custom appearance to your motorcycle.


Harley-Davidson's motorcycles are an outlet for self-expression, allowing the machine's owner to personalize almost every facet and component to their taste. Even components as common as the clutch inspection cover, better known as the Derby cover, can be replaced with a custom piece to reflect the owner's personality. Installing a new Derby cover is a simple task that requires only a few tools. However, it is recommended that you use a stand to hold your motorcycle upright, in order to prevent fluid from leaking out of the primary while installing the new Derby cover.


Instructions


1. Place the motorcycle into an upright position using a motorcycle stand or lift for support.


2. Use a Torx-27 driver to unscrew all five bolts that secure the original derby cover to the primary housing on the right side of the motor. Set the bolts aside. Pull the derby cover and its gasket off the primary housing.


3. Using a clean rag or towel, remove any oil from the derby cover gasket's mating surface on the primary housing.


4. Prepare the new derby cover and derby cover gasket. Flip the gasket so that the side with the words "Towards clutch" imprinted on it faces the primary housing. Align the triangular hole on the gasket with the top hole of the derby cover and place both pieces against the primary housing.


5. Insert a bolt and washer into the top hole on the derby cover to secure the cover against the primary housing, screwing it in slightly with a Torx-27 driver. Insert bolts and washers into the remaining holes on the derby cover.


6. Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts to 84 to 108 inch-pounds, following a 5-pointed star pattern starting from the top center bolt, bottom left bolt, top right bolt, top left bolt, then the bottom right bolt.


7. Wipe away any spilled primary fluid or fingerprints from the primary housing and derby cover with a clean rag or towel. Lower the motorcycle from the stand or lift and place it onto its kickstand.

Goretex Vs Other Fabrics

Gore-Tex was the first waterproof-breathable fabric but now has stiff competition.


All "waterproof-breathable" garments allow perspiration to escape but prevent liquid water, with its larger molecules, from permeating the fabric. Even though Gore-Tex was the first fabric of this kind and has dominated the market since it was invented in the 1970s, as of 2010, other fabrics are creating stiff competition and heated debate among consumers about which do the best job.


Gore-Tex


Gore-Tex consists of a polytetraflourethylene (PTFE) membrane (the same chemical as Teflon), laminated to a face fabric, usually nylon or polyester. Over the years, "classic" Gore-Tex has undergone refinements and improvements to increase the fabric's breathability and durability.


eVent


The manufacturers of eVent fabrics claim that sweat doesn't evaporate quickly enough through Gore-Tex and other materials with PTFE or polyurethane membranes, allowing dampness to collect on the inside of garments before being pushed out by body heat. The company attributes its "direct venting technology" and patented surface coatings to the development of lighter fabrics that eliminate this problem.


MemBrain Strata


The newest of a group of waterproof-breathable fabrics developed by Marmot as of 2010, MemBrain Strata incorporates both membranes and patterned surface coatings in its 2.5-layer design. The company claims that this fabric eliminates the need for linings, combining superior breathability with the lightest-ever weight.

My Wii Won'T Change To 480p

Component video cables offer better picture quality than standard composite cables.


Though the Nintendo Wii cannot output video in high definition, it does offer a setting for progressive scan at 480p instead of the default interlaced video at 480i. Progressive scan video refreshes each line of video sequentially instead of in an alternating pattern, resulting in a smoother display on large television sets. In order to change to progressive scan on the Wii, you need a special cable not included with the system and a compatible television.


Instructions


1. Buy a component video cable compatible with the Nintendo Wii. You cannot use 480p video with the composite cable that comes with the Wii. Nintendo recommends buying its brand-name cable, though many other brands manufacture compatible cables as well.


2. Connect the new cable to the Wii and to the component inputs on your television. The ends of the cables use colors to help you match them to the slots on the TV. Note that there are two red cables, one for audio and one for video. You can tell them apart based on which other ends they are grouped with. The red used for audio will be nearest to the white audio cable.


3. Set your TV to the component input. Your TV may list this as "YPbPr" instead. Turn on your Wii, booting to the main menu as usual.


4. Open the settings by clicking on the "Wii" button and then the "Wii Settings" button. Click on the "Screen" button to enter the video options.


5. Select the "TV Resolution" button. You will see options for "EDTV or HDTV (480p)" and "Standard TV (480i)." Pick the first option to change to 480p and click "Confirm." If you also need to change your Wii to display in widescreen, you can do so by entering the "Widescreen Settings" menu now. Otherwise, exit out of the settings by pressing the "Home" button on the Wii remote and clicking on "Wii Menu."


6. Play your Wii games as usual and the video will now display in 480p. If you play GameCube games on your Wii, the system will ask you to confirm using progressive scan each time you boot a compatible game. Select "Yes" to use 480p during that game.

2. Measure the liquid (generally water, honey or oil) into the KitchenAid stand mix bowl. Add the dry ingredients (typically yeast, salt or sugar).


3. Add flour gradually with the KitchenAid stand mixer speed set to 2. Continue to add flour until the mixture forms a dough, soft or firm depending on your recipe recommendations.


4. Allow the KitchenAid stand mixer to knead the dough for 5 to 10 minutes on speed 2 to 3.


5. Turn off the KitchenAid stand mixer and allow the dough to rest in the bowl, covered and rise for 30 minutes to an hour (check your recipe).


6. Switch the KitchenAid stand mixer on for several seconds to "punch down" the dough.


7. Knead the dough on KitchenAid stand mixer speed 1 to 2 for less than a minute. Preheat the oven to the specified temperature.


8. Shape dough or place in greased and floured pans. Allow to rise 20 to 40 minutes before baking.

Avoid The Blue Screen Of Death

The Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) refers to the error screen displayed by the Windows operating system when it has experienced a critical error. When your computer experiences an error resulting in the BSOD, it will shut down after freezing and displaying the critical operating system error code on the computer screen. Causes of the BSOD include device driver errors when installing new hardware on a computer, lack of virtual or physical memory for the operating system to conduct the programs being run or overheating your computer.


Instructions


1. Verify the amount of RAM installed on the computer by right-clicking the "My Computer" icon on your computer desktop and selecting the "Properties" menu option. The computer RAM installed on your computer will be displayed on the subsequent dialog menu. Consider upgrading the amount of RAM on your computer if you have less than 2 GB installed.


2. Check the amount of hard drive space available on your computer by double-clicking the "My Computer" icon, right-clicking the computer hard drive icon and selecting the "Properties" menu option. If less than 50 percent of the hard drive is free, the BSOD can be triggered when running multiple programs at once.


3. Free hard drive space by removing applications that you no longer use by clicking "Start > Settings > Control Panel." Open the "Add/Remove Programs" application and click the "Remove program" button by computer programs that you no longer use. Repeat the process for each program that you no longer use.


4. Remove or transfer any pictures, music files or movies that you have on the computer to portable media to free additional hard drive space. The method of transfer will vary depending on what type of portable media you are using. If using a portable hard drive or USB memory stick, you will need to insert the drive. Open Windows Explorer by clicking the "Windows + E" keys simultaneously. Navigate to the folder containing your multimedia and select multiple files by pressing the "CTRL" key and single-clicking each file to transfer. Keeping the "CTRL" key depressed, drag the files to the letter drive corresponding to the portable media storage device.


5. Remove unnecessary programs from Windows startup. Select the "Start" and "Run" menu options and enter "msconfig" (without quotes), followed by clicking the "Enter" key. Choose the "Startup" menu tab and uncheck all programs listed that you do not desire to run on computer start such as "QuickTime," "iTunes," and other third-party programs and toolbars that you do not use every day. This will save system resources and help prevent your computer from using all of the available memory resulting in the BSOD.


6. Enable automatic Windows update by clicking the "Start > Settings > Control Panel" and choosing "Windows Update" application. Click the "Settings" menu button and click the top pull-down menu to select the "Automatic update" option. This will ensure that the latest operating system and driver updates produced by Microsoft are loaded on your computer to prevent errors from new or existing hardware.

Is your Mac desktop crowded with icons, folders, and files? Clearing your desktop allows you to keep it organized. By default, many applications and folders automatically download to the desktop. After while, your desktop looks messy and you loose the ease of accessing files quickly. Macs make it easy to remove items from the desktop and keep the ones that you want.


Instructions


1. Select the files or folders you want to remove from the desktop and drag them to the trash to remove them from the desktop.


2. Eject an external hard drive from the desktop if you are not using it. To do so, press and hold "CTRL" and click the external hard drive icon. Select "Eject" to remove it from the desktop. Alternatively, drag the hard drive icon from the desktop to the trash bin to remove it from the desktop.


3. Move the files you want to keep to a separate location other than the desktop. To do so, double-click the "Macintosh HD" drive on the desktop. Select the folder you want to transfer your saved desktop files to. Click the desktop files you want to transfer and drag them to the folder on the Macintosh HD drive.


4. Click "Finder" on your desktop if you want to select the files and icons that can display on the desktop. Click "Preferences" and click the "General" tab. Select the items you want to display on the desktop under "Show items on Desktop." Close the window to save the changes


5. Arrange the remaining icons that you want to keep on the desktop. To do so, press "CTRL" and click an empty spot on the desktop. Click "View" and click "Arrange by." Select the arrangement method you want to use. The icons are organized automatically based on your choice.

Remove Jetski Decals

Jet skis look cleaner without a lot of decals.


Jet skis are fun to operate and also serve as useful ways to get around on the water quickly and effortlessly. Unfortunately, manufacturers of jet skis often apply dozens of stickers and decals to the watercraft that aren't always desirable. If you've purchased a used jet ski, there may be decals on it that you'd like to remove.


Instructions


1. Plug in your hair dryer and set it to its hot setting. Aim it directly at a corner or edge of the decal you'd like to remove and hold it about two inches away from the surface.


2. Apply heat to the decal using your hair dryer. Heat only a small area of the decal, using circular motions to evenly apply the heat.


3. Grab the corner or edge of the decal and attempt to peel it back as you continue to heat the decal. As you peel the decal away from the jet ski, try to remove any excess adhesive with your fingernail. If you can't remove it immediately, don't worry about it.


4. Continue heating other parts of the decal and peeling them back with your fingernails. Keep heating and peeling until you have removed the entire decal.


5. Look over the spot on the jet ski for residue or leftover adhesive. If there is adhesive left that you can't remove using your fingernail, apply a small amount of a commercial adhesive remover such as Goo Gone, Goof-Off or Krud Kutter. Clean the area with some paper towels and allow it to dry.

Make A Custom Chopper Seat

Learn make a custom chopper seat.


The seat of a motorcycle or chopper is integral to ensure your comfort and ease during a long trip. The seat that comes with your chopper might not be the most appealing shape or style. However, you can modify it in a fairly simple way to suit your needs. Create a custom seat for your chopper by adding more comfortable materials at crucial parts of the seat and completely reupholstering it.


Instructions


1. Remove your factory-standard seat from your motorcycle with a wrench and turn it over to expose the raw edges of the upholstery.


2. Remove the current upholstery with a staple remover until all of the fabric comes off. This will expose the foam seat underneath.


3. Mark the spots on the seat that you want to adjust. Focus on the areas of the seat that you find uncomfortable after an extended riding trip.


4. Draw onto the gel pad in the shapes you want to add to the seat. Cut out the shapes from the gel pad along the lines.


5. Arrange the gel pads on top of the seat and trace the shapes. Cut out the excess foam in your seat so you can insert the gel pads.


6. Cut out the shapes from the seat foam using a grinder. Make sure the cut-outs are at least as deep as the gel pads are thick.


7. Spray the cut-outs in the seat with spray contact adhesive and set the gel pads in their respective spots. Let the adhesive dry thoroughly before moving on.


8. Lay the soft foam sheets over the seat to cover the gel pads. Glue them in place with the spray. Build up any areas that you want to raise and level using the sheets.


9. Shape the seat with the grinder if there are any parts that don't flow well. Ensure there are no sharp corners or lumps.


10. Cut a piece of the new fabric you want to use for the upholstery and lay it face-down on a smooth, solid surface. Set the new seat foam down on top of the fabric.


11. Pull up the lower-left corner of the fabric and hold it against the underside of the seat. Make sure you are holding the fabric securely, but don't compress the foam.


12. Secure the fabric down to the underside of the seat with a power stapler. Ensure the staple goes all the way into the seat base or the fabric will tear.


13. Move across to the right side of the fabric and pull up the edge slightly up and diagonally from the first staple. Staple this piece down to the seat.


14. Work in a "Z" pattern across the seat until both sides are firmly attached. Pull the upper and lower pieces up and staple them down.


15. Trim away any excess fabric from the underside of the seat, following the path of the staples. Reattach the seat to the motorcycle.

While the engine is one of the best Ford has ever engineered, based on warranty repair numbers, it does require care and proper maintenance, like all engines. The 5.4l is prone to three different types of abnormal engine noise. Below is an examination of each noise and what can be done to correct it.


Oil Filter


Use professional quality oil filters. While purchasing economy oil filters may save a few dollars, you will be greeted on cold starts by a rattling noise that continues until the engine reaches operating temperature. All oil filters are not made the same. If you were to dissect quality oil filters, such as a MotorCraft, Wix or the Napa Gold Line model, you would see an anti-flowback valve installed within the filter. The purpose of this valve is to keep the oil in the engine's top end after the engine is shut down. By doing so, the valve train is lubricated instantly at start up, instead of minutes later after the oil pump has circulated the oil from the oil pan to the top of the engine. Dissect a cheap oil filter and essentially what you will find is a filter medium akin to a coffee filter, wadded inside a tin can. If you notice the ticking sound on start up, make sure to change your oil as soon as possible and use a good quality oil filter.


Oil


Protect the engine with the factory recommended oil weight to keep other ticking noises at bay. Your 5.4L left the factory with 5w20 or 5w30 semi-synthetic oil installed in the engine. Use of thicker oils, such as 10w30 or 20w50, no matter the climate, can overwork the engine's top end as it attempts to work with the thicker oil coursing through it. Once you have installed the thicker oil, you will most likely experience a ticking noise similar to the one mentioned above, that does not, however, dissipate when the engine reaches operating temperature. The longer the engine is operated with the wrong oil, the louder the noise will get. The synchronizer, which controls the timing for the top end, will ultimately become damaged and need to be replaced. As soon as you discover this ticking noise and know you have used the thicker oils, have the oil replaced immediately with the recommended weight.


Spark Plug Threads


In the unlikely event your 5.4L suffers from this next noise, be prepared to spend anywhere from $200-$5,000 to have it repaired by a qualified technician. Worst case scenarios on high mileage engines translate to full engine replacement. In extremely rare cases, the 5.4L and its 6.8L V-10 cousin can have a spark plug "spit" out of the cylinder head. This is usually accompanied by a loud bang and a hammering noise that beats in rhythm with the engine. If this happens to you, have your truck towed to the nearest qualified repair facility for repairs. Attempting to drive it in this state can lead to under hood fires.


In these cases, the threaded sleeve in the head loses its bond with the surrounding cylinder head material and shoots outward on a hard compression stroke, ejecting the threads, spark plug and coil-on-plug unit. Prior to 2009, Ford Motor Company expressly forbid dealership service departments from repairing the cylinder heads with a helicoil, a common "quick fix" in the aftermarket, due to the potential for severe engine damage caused by the helicoil's inability to dissipate heat in the same manner as the surrounding head material. However, Ford released a helicoil kit of its own in 2009 which transferred heat to the surrounding cylinder head in a proper fashion. Ask your service advisor for this repair step first, before authorizing any major repairs.

History Of The Harleydavidson Company

The Harley-Davidson Motor Company was founded in 1903 by William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Together with two other Davidson brothers, they began manufacturing a racing motorcycle that they had been designing, and soon afterward, introduced a new model which could reach a then unheard-of 60 miles per hour.


Early Years


The first Harley-Davidson dealership opened in Chicago in 1904, and in 1906, the company opened a new factory. Harley-Davidson incorporated in 1907, added employees, factory space and more dealers, and in 1909, they introduced their famous V-twin-cylinder motorcycle. It had a 7-horsepower engine. The company continued to grow. During World War I, the US Army bought almost half of all the motorcycles produced by the company, helping it become the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. Their bikes continued to perform well at races, and in 1925, the iconic teardrop-shaped gas tank was introduced.


Middle Decades


The flathead 45-cubic-inch V-twin engine was introduced on the D model in 1929. Sales suffered during the Great Depression, but the company again produced motorcycles for the US Army during World War II. After the war, the company bought a new plant in Milwaukee. In 1948, they introduced the lightweight model S. More models were introduced over the next few decades as company growth continued, and more factories were built. Along the way, the company became the only motorcycle manufacturer left in the US. In 1965, the company went public and was bought by the American Machine and Foundry Company.


Into the Present


In the 70s and 80s, competition from Japanese manufacturers and the recession caused sales to suffer. In 1981, a group of Harley-Davidson executives bought the company from AMF for $81.5 million and began turning the company around through more efficient management, manufacturing and marketing strategies. The company's fortunes improved to the point that they again went public in 1986. The company's history, racing success, distinctive designs and marketing success have inspired a fierce loyalty in their customers all over the world.

Install A Second Sata Hard Drive

Having enough storage capacity on your computer is critical, but because you have your computer's operating system on your primary hard drive, it isn't always a simple matter to upgrade it. Adding a second hard drive can not only be an easy way to increase your storage, but if your computer uses SATA drives, then you will be able to access the information stored on the drive much faster than you would with an older IDE drive. It should take under 10 minutes to install a second SATA hard drive into your computer.


Instructions


1. Unplug your computer. Once it's unplugged, press the power button as though you were trying to turn it on; this will discharge any residual power left in the power supply or other components.


2. Remove the screws or loosen the thumbscrews holding the side panel of the computer case in place, then slide the panel toward the back of the case to remove it. After setting it aside, lay the computer case on its side so that you will be able to get a better view of the interior, allowing light to enter the case without the need for a flashlight.


3. Locate the SATA ports on your motherboard. These are small square plastic ports with a plastic bar in the middle, most likely located near the front of your computer case on the bottom of the motherboard. The easiest way to locate them is to look at the red SATA cable that is attached to your primary SATA hard drive and follow it to where it connects to the SATA ports. Once you've located the ports, plug one end of the SATA cable that came with your new hard drive into one of the SATA ports.


4. Slide your new SATA drive into one of the mounting brackets near your primary hard drive; chances are the first available hard drive bracket will be located directly below your existing hard drive. Look for the small threaded holes in the side of the hard drive and line them up with the holes in the bracket; use the screws that came with your hard drive to secure the new SATA drive into its position.


5. Locate an unused SATA power cable in the wires coming from your power supply. The power cable will end in a small black plastic plug, with a tab sticking out from it that will plug into your hard drive. If you have an older power supply, it may not have any SATA power cables coming out from it; if this is the case, look for a standard hard drive power cable (it will end in a white rectangular block with four holes in the end) and attach the SATA power adapter that came with your hard drive. The adapter will simply slide onto the power cable.


6. Plug the SATA power cable (or adapter) and the red SATA data cable into the back of your SATA drive. Each will only fit into the drive in one direction, so you don't have to worry about accidentally plugging them in wrong. Once the two cables have been plugged in, replace the side panel on your computer case and plug the computer back in.


7. Boot up your computer. When you log in to your operating system, it should recognize the new hardware and ask to install drivers for it. Use the driver CD that came with the SATA hard drive to install the drivers, then format the drive if prompted to do so. Once the SATA drive is installed and properly formatted, it will be ready to use.

American Ironhorse Specifications

American IronHorse bikes have wide rear tires and narrow front tires.


American IronHorse was a motorcycle company founded in 1985 in Texas that ceased trading in 2008. The company made custom cruisers and choppers. The final lineup included the Slammer, the Texas Chopper, the Legend, the LSC, the Tejas and the Outlaw. The custom bikes sold for up to $40,000 each. American IronHorse motorcycles had narrow front wheels and tires contrasting with fat rear tires. The individual styling of the bikes was unusual, with long and narrow painted gas tanks as a feature and a rear fender that could hold the weight of a passenger.


Common Engine


All of the American IronHorse motorcycles share the same basic engine with 1,820 cubic centimeters (111 cubic inches) of displacement. Options of a 117-cubic-inch or 124-cubic-inch engine were also available.


The two cylinders are in a V-twin configuration, where each cylinder is arranged at an angle to the other. The cylinder valves are controlled by an overhead valves system using pushrods.


The bore and stroke of the engine is 4.1 by 4.1 inches, with bore being the diameter of the engine's cylinder opening and stroke being the total distance the piston travels up and down. The S&S-brand engine has a compression ratio of 9.5-to-1; compression ratio is the ratio of the volume between the piston and cylinder head before and after a compression stroke. The engine is four stroke and air-cooled. The fuel induction is via a carburetor and the engine is electric start.


Chassis


American IronHorse motorcycles use a belt final drive system to transfer engine power to the rear wheel, and have six manual gears. The wheels of the bikes are made of aluminum and are 21 inches in diameter in front and 18 inches in diameter in the rear. The tires are tubeless and are 90/90H R21 size in front and 240/40V R18 size on the back wheel.


The bikes' front brakes are dual discs that are 11.5 inches in diameter with four caliper pistons, and the rear brake is a single disc, also with an 11.5-inch diameter and four caliper pistons.


The suspension of these custom choppers uses a telescopic fork in front and a twin-sided swingarm in the rear. The suspension is set for a rigid ride, and is not adjustable.


Performance and Styling


The last range of motorcycles produced by American IronHorse all produced 110 horsepower and 115 ft.-lbs. of torque, as they shared the same basic engine. The company offered custom finishes to buyers, which included choosing engine finishes, chrome accents and engine upgrades.

Remove Spark Plugs On A Buell

Buell motorcycles are manufactured by Harley-Davidson. A Buell is a sport motorcycle that is made for Harley enthusiasts who want something different. The engine size, body style and number of spark plugs will differ between models. On all Buell motorcycles, the spark plugs are on the top of the engine on the right and left side. You can identify the spark plug by the rubber wire and connector in clear view on the top of the engine. Removing the spark plugs on a Buell is a fairly simple job.


Instructions


1. Park the Buell motorcycle on clean, level ground. Get on one knee facing the engine. You will need to do this on both sides of the engine to remove all the plugs. Buell motorcycles have either two or four spark plugs, one or two on each side.


2. Pull the rubber connector off the top of the spark plug. Connect the socket to the ratchet by placing the square hole on the socket on the stem on the ratchet. Push them together until you hear a snapping sound.


3. Place the socket on top of the metal stem on the spark plug that is protruding from the engine. Use the ratchet and socket to turn the spark plug counterclockwise until it releases from the engine. Pull the plug from the engine. Repeat the process for the remaining plug or plugs.

Yamaha V Star 650 Information

Yamaha's V Star 650 has won rave reviews from the start.


In 1997, Yamaha Motors introduced the V Star 650 motorcycle as a replacement for its outgoing Virago 750. Yamaha's new bike became an immediate hit, winning the "Cruiser of the Year" award from the Motorcycle Cruiser magazine. Today, this bike competes with similar models in the 750 cc class, including the Honda Shadow Aero and the Suzuki Boulevard C50.


Models


The company originally produced two models of its middleweight V-twin cruiser: the XVS650 Classic and the XVS650 Custom. It later added the XVS65A Silverado style and then dropped the "650" distinction to call each the V Star Custom, Classic or Silverado.


While Yamaha packed lots of chrome trim on the entire line and equipped these bikes with spoke wheels, each bike featured a slightly different look. A V Star Classic sported a longer length and greater overall width than the Custom and Silverado, both of which also used a narrower front tire and slightly lower seat. Yamaha differentiated the Silverado from the Custom by giving it a windshield, backrest and standard leather saddlebags.


Yamaha's 2011 lineup only features one 650 V Star product, which it refers to as the V Star Custom. This motorcycle retails for $6,890.


Engine


When the company launched the V Star 650, it equipped it with a 649 cc displacement V-twin four-stroke engine that it still uses at the time of this writing. All models of this motorcycle have featured the same engine. Yamaha set the V-twin's two cylinders at a 70-degree angle to one another and gave each a bore of 3.19 inches and a stroke of 2.48 inches. The engine has a compression ratio of 9.0-to-1.


This engine sports two constant velocity 28-millimeter Mikuni carburetors set in a single overhead cam configuration that uses two valves per cylinder, for four valves total. A transistor-controlled ignition controls the sparks in each chamber. The air flow during riding keeps it from overheating and a wet sump oil system keeps it lubricated. Yamaha's 649 cc engine produces 40 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 37 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm.


Transmission


Riders can shift through the five-speed manual transmission using the V Star's multi-plate wet clutch. The engine transfers power to the rear wheel via a shaft drive.


Performance


Motorcycle Cruiser reports that the 1998 V Star Classic could pass the quarter-mile in a time of 15.9 seconds, at a speed of 80.4 mph. According to the Total Magazine website, these bikes can hit a top speed of 145 mph. Yamaha gives the Custom a fuel economy of 48 mpg and the Classic a 49 mpg rating. The 2011 Custom has a 5.5 gallon fuel tank, giving it a range of over 250 miles.


Wheels


The 2011 V Star Custom rides on size 100/90-19 front tires and size 170/80-15 rear tires. Yamaha equipped this bike's front wheel with a 298 mm diameter disc and slapped a 200 mm drum brake on the rear wheel. A 2010 Silverado and Classic rode on 130/90-16 front and 170/80-15 rear tires. Both the Silverado and the Classic used the same front-disc, rear-drum configuration and brake size.


Suspension


Yamaha equipped all models of the V Star 650 with a telescopic fork front suspension and single-shock rear suspension. The 2011 V Star Custom's front suspension has a travel of 5.5 inches; its rear suspension has a travel of 3.4 inches.

Remove Paint From a Windshield


Windshields tend to accumulate everything that comes in contact with the car. Paint, however, is one of those things that won't readily or easily come off the windshield with traditional soap and water. But for as stubborn as it is, there are several methods that will lift paint from a windshield and leave it looking as though there was never paint there at all.


Instructions


1. Use a razor blade and water, making sure the area is wet so as not to scratch the windshield. Scrape in a straight forward movement until all the paint is gone. Rinse the area with clear water to get rid of any excess debris.


2. Purchase Bon Ami from a local grocery store. Sprinkle Bon Ami liberally on the stain and scrub with a damp cloth. Rinse the area well with clear water.


3. Apply lacquer thinner or acetone with a soft clean cloth and wipe until the paint is removed. Wipe the area clean with a soft cloth dampened with water once the stain is lifted.


4. Soak a cloth in paint thinner and place it directly on the paint stain for at least 30 minutes. Remove the cloth and gently scrape away the paint with a razor blade. Rinse any debris with clear water.


5. Apply glass cleaner to 0000 steel wool and gently scrub the area until all of the paint is gone. Wipe the area clean of debris with a soft cloth dampened with water.

Motorcycle mechanics perform routine maintenance and repairs on the engines and other parts of motorcycles. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts that the demand for motorcycle mechanics will increase 9 percent from 2008 through 2018. Educational requirements vary from employer to employer, but most prefer applicants with a high school diploma. As of May 2009, motorcycle mechanics earned an average of $33,870 per year.


Experience


The number of years she worked in the field influenced the average salary of a motorcycle mechanic, according to Payscale. Mechanics with one to four years' experience earned an average of $21,528 to $31,491 per year as of November 2010. With five to nine years' experience, mechanics made an annual average of $28,142 to $37,128. Motorcycle mechanics with 10 to 19 years' experience averaged $29,889 to $45,094 annually.


Employer Type


The employer type and structure of a motorcycle mechanic also contributed to his average annual salary, explains Payscale. Self-employed mechanics enjoyed the highest average annual salaries as of November 2010, at $30,326 to $53,456. Mechanics who worked for franchises averaged $24,939 to $39,520 per year. Incorporated companies paid an average of $23,608 to $36,129 per year, and other types of private firms like partnerships paid an average of $18,720 to $30,118 annually.


Industry


Motorcycle mechanics' salaries varied throughout different industries, according to BLS. Vehicle retail dealerships served as the largest employers of mechanics; professionals employed in this industry earned an average of $33,810 per year as of May 2009. Motor vehicle wholesalers paid the highest average annual salaries to motorcycle mechanics at $49,190. Mechanics employed by motor vehicle manufacturers made an average of $47,940 per year, while those who worked at automobile parts and accessories stories averaged $25,350 annually.


Geography


The salary rates for motorcycle mechanics differed throughout the United States based on geographic location, according to BLS. Wyoming had the highest concentration of motorcycle mechanics; repair technicians employed in the state made an average of $32,590 per year as of May 2009. Mechanics in Maryland and California received the highest average annual salaries, at $39,940 and $41,590, respectively. Other high-paying states for mechanics included Massachusetts, Nevada and Connecticut, where mechanics averaged $38,470 to $38,860 per year.

Build Your Own Chopper

Choppers are all about individuality.


The chopper came about as a way to take a regular, factory production motorcycle and strip it down to create a lighter weight, higher performance machine that reflected the individuality of its owner.


Most now think of choppers as the gaudy customs churned out by famous builders and costing several times as much as a new factory bike, but it doesn't have to be that way. By purchasing a wrecked bike and mating its powertrain with a chassis kit, it is possible to build a complete chopper for less money than a new standard bike would cost.


Instructions


1. Find and purchase a wrecked bike with a working powertrain. Harley-Davidson Sportsters are popular because they are common, not too expensive, and the engine and transmission are one unit, simplifying construction.


2. Remove the engine and transmission from the frame, and send it out for rebuilding if necessary. If your Sportster was an 883cc, you may want to have it rebuilt as a 1200cc for increased power. The 1200cc is the same engine as an 883cc, but with bigger cylinders and pistons, which are easily replaceable to upgrade to the larger size.


3. Choose and purchase a frame kit that you like and that accepts your engine. A few sources are listed in the Resources section. You can save money by purchasing a bare frame and a used fork, rather than buying a complete rolling chassis.


4. Remove the wheels, brakes and other needed hardware from the wrecked bike, and install them on the new frame. Any needed parts that were damaged on the wrecked bike must be replaced with new or used parts. If you did not purchase a rolling chassis, install the used fork.


5. Install the engine and transmission, gas tank and controls. Install the lights, seat and other accessories.


6. Test ride the bike to ensure everything is working properly. When everything is working to your satisfaction, take the bike to a paint shop to be painted.

Remove Oil Stains From A Harley Engine

The ribbing on a Harley engine is designed to dissipate engine heat.


Removing oil stains from a Harley Davidson engine is a tedious task unless the engine has been removed from the bike and hasn't been chromed or painted. Oil stains on the engine form when an oil gasket leaks oil. Dust collects on the oil stains and acts as an insulator which can cause the engine to run at hotter operating temperatures than normal. Replacing worn gaskets should be done before cleaning the stains to avoid recurrence.


Instructions


1. Cool the engine completely by turning it off and letting the motorcycle sit for a day.


2. Lay a piece of painter's plastic on the ground.


3. Roll the motorcycle onto the plastic and put down the kickstand.


4. Mask the exhaust system and the engine frame with blue masking tape. Cover the backside of the front tire with a piece of masking paper. Tape it in place by wrapping pieces of tape around the tire. Put tape along the backside of the front tire forks. Mask the bottom sides of the gas tank. Mask all other parts that will not be cleaned to avoid splatters of mineral spirits on them.


5. Set the toothbrush in the half-quart container with the bristles in the bottom.


6. Pour mineral spirits into the container until the bristles of the toothbrush are covered with liquid.


7. Grab the toothbrush and scrub its bristles on the oil stains in a back-and-forth and side-to-side motion. Use circular scrubbing strokes on large flat areas of the engine and small back and forth strokes in hard to reach places. Dip the toothbrush repeatedly in the mineral spirits after each scrubbing, to remove oil from the bristles.


8. Rag off soiled liquid on the engine after each scrubbing is completed. Continue the scrubbing and ragging technique until the oil stains are removed.

Install A Center Stand

Center stand lifts are a safe and useful tool when used properly.


A center stand is useful when cleaning the wheels on a motorcycle or if you need to keep the bike upright to check the oil. It allows a person to easily raise the front or rear wheel while cleaning or for service. You can install a center stand on a motorcycle using common tools, and it only takes about 30 minutes.


Instructions


1. Remove the hourglass-shaped reinforcing plate from the center stand. Lay it down on the right side of the motorcycle. Locate the hourglass-shaped crossmember. Clean off all dirt and gravel on the top side of the crossmember. If you see a wire connector located on top of the crossmember beside the right frame, push it forward to unhook it from the tab on the crossmember. Some motorcycles have this wire but others do not.


2. Loosen the pivot nuts on the center stand using a 9/16-inch wrench. Rotate the upper hinge brackets approximately 30 degrees past parallel with the center stand. Make sure to tighten the nut enough to hold the hinge bracket in place.


3. Slide the center stand under the motorcycle. The hinge brackets should go over the top of the frame crossmember. Slide the stand as far forward as you can. Center the bolt holes from left to right on the large holes in the crossmember.


4. Install the reinforcing plate using the washers and bolts included with the center stand. The plate has a slight "V" shape bend that runs down its length, and the point of the "V" points downward, facing the ground. Make sure the center stand hinge brackets are as far forward as they can go and centered between the frame rails. Tighten all bolts.


5. Loosen the two 6/16-inch pivot nuts. Check that the stand pivots up and down freely. If it does not, loosen the mounting bolts and make adjustments to the hinge brackets until it does. When it pivots up and down freely, tighten the mounting bolts.


6. Remove the 9/16-inch nut completely and remove the four washers on the studs. Reinstall the washers with the smaller holes. Reinstall and tighten the pivot nuts.

Mount A Satellite Radio On A Motorcycle

Before buying a motorcycle satellite radio, decide which of two kinds you want for the motorcycle. A strap-on radio, also used on bicycles, is mounted on a strap that clamps to the handlebar and is powered by AA or AAA batteries. A screw-on radio is typically installed on the motorcycle's front console and comes with all the necessary mounting accessories.


Instructions


1. Find a suitable location on the motorcycle to mount the radio. It must be far away from the engine so the heat does not damage the device, but close to the battery for the radio wiring. The preferred place is on the front console.


2. Use the screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the front console cover. Remove the console cover by pulling it at the seam on the edges.


3. Use a pencil to mark the wiring hole on the front side of the console cover for the radio. Drill the hole using the electric drill.


4. Pass the radio wiring through the holes on the console cover with the front of the cover facing you.


5. Locate the electrical bus, also called the machine bus, in the front console. This is a small metal box to which all the electronics are wired, including the signal lights and the horn.


6. Release the latch on the electrical bus cover to open it.


7. Read the motorcycle's owner manual for the wiring diagram and the terminals in the electrical bus.


8. Using the solder, weld the red wire of the radio to the positive terminal on the electrical bus.


9. Using the solder, secure the black wire of the radio to the negative terminal on the electrical bus. The other ends of both the wires are pre-installed on the radio.


10. Insert the radio's circuit breaker into one of the empty breaker slots in the electrical bus. Close the electrical bus cover and lock it with its latch.


11. Neatly tuck the radio wiring in the front console. Replace the front console cover.


12. Mark the mounting holes using a pencil for the radio's bracket on the front console. The mounting location should not obstruct the instrument panel and other important switches.


13. Drill the mounting holes using the electric driller. Install the bracket per manufacturer's instructions. Mount the radio on the installed bracket.


14. Start the motorcycle. Turn on the radio for testing to make sure it is working as expected.

It is considered the "birthplace" of BC, and was incorporated in 1873. Langley is comprised of about six different communities, which are host to a number of secondary schools in the area.


Langley Secondary School


Langley Secondary School is located on 56 Avenue in Langley, BC. The school has a variety of departments including English, where the teachers encourage the students to read a list of their favorite authors. Also included are the Social Studies, Physical Education, Fine Arts, Home Economic, Modern Languages, ESL, Math, Technical Education, Sciences, Business Education and Career Education departments. Langley Secondary School is the home of the Saints, the name given for their athletic teams.


H.D. Stafford Secondary School


Also in Langley Township, BC is H.D. Stafford Secondary School, located on Grade Crescent. It is categorized as a technical school, meaning the school caters to students who eventually seek careers fields such as woodworking, plumbing and carpentry. H.D. Stafford Secondary School is currently a part of a project called AVID created in San Diego, CA, whose goal is to assist students in academically challenging situations that were initially unfamiliar to them.


Aldergrove Community Secondary School


Aldergrove Community Secondary School is also located in Langley Township, BC, in the community of Aldergrove. The school's motto is "Dream, Believe, Achieve" and the colors are blue and white. Aldergrove Community Secondary School was one of the first schools to have a hockey program in the Province of British Columbia. In 2008, there were 1,022 students enrolled at the school.


Brookswood Secondary School


In the community of Brookswood is Brookswood Secondary School, home of the Bobcat mascot. It was founded in 1973. The school offers French Immersion as well as English language instruction. Brookswood is well-known in British Columbia athletics, as the Senior Girls AAA basketball team is three-time defending Provincial champions. The school also hosts a drama festival showcasing the talent of students who have written plays.

If your Xbox 360 video game console is not displaying video correctly, you can try several solutions. A broken console that can't show video cannot be fixed at home. But most video issues are caused by a loose connection or incorrect video settings. Before contacting Microsoft to arrange a repair or replacement, try these troubleshooting steps.


Instructions


1. Check that your television or monitor is displaying the correct channel. The Xbox 360 will typically be set to operate on the channels "AV," "Component" or "HDTV." If you run the console through a switcher or receiver, make sure it's switched on, working correctly, and set to the channel where your Xbox 360 is connected.


2. Disconnect the A/V cables from the rear of your Xbox 360 and the sockets on your TV, monitor or receiver. Reconnect the cables, pushing the plugs firmly to ensure a secure connection on both ends of the cable.


3. Turn the Xbox 360 around and inspect the TV/HDTV switch on the rear of the console. If your console is connected using the five component AV plugs (red, white, blue, green and pink), the switch should be set to "HDTV." If it is connected with the three composite AV plugs (red, white and yellow), set the switch to "TV." The console will reset to display the selected video feed when the switch is changed.


4. Reset the display settings on your Xbox 360 by turning on the console, without a disc in the tray, while holding the "Y" and "Right Trigger" buttons on your controller. The console will boot using the factory default display settings, which will display on any working television.


5. Remove the HDMI cable, if you are using one. If your console is connected via HDMI and you hear sound but see no picture, your television may not support the console's HDMI settings. Connect the console via component or composite video and download any available system updates, which will be offered as soon as the console is turned on. If your HDMI connection still does not work, the console needs to be operated via a component or composite video connection, not HDMI.

Compare Harley Davidson'S Fat Boy Motorcycle Vs Fat Bob

These two Harley-Davidson motorcycles share more than the 'Fat' designation.


Harley Davidson gave two motorcycle models the "Fat" designation, the Fat Boy and the Fat Bob, hearkening back to motorcycle's earlier days. The Fat Bob is the older of the two models. It was first introduced for the 1979 model year, while the Fat Boy made its debut in 1990. There are similarities in their beefy styling cues, but there are also differences between the two that don't immediately meet the eye.


Movie Star


Known for its iconic cruiser styling, the Fat Boy is a Hollywood favorite; Arnold Schwarzenegger rode a Fat Boy in "Terminator II" and it was featured in the movie "Wild Hogs." The Fat Bob, on the other hand, has a long Harley-Davidson heritage inspiring its retro looks, including its dual headlights reminiscent of 1929 and 1930 models.


Model Families


Classified as a Harley-Davidson Softail, the Fat Boy has a "hardtail" appearance, thanks to its concealed rear shocks. Recognize any Harley motorcycle in the Softail family by its long, low profile. The Fat Bob is a member of the Dyna family with its twin shock absorbers. Aaron Frank of "Motorcyclist" magazine calls it "the best-handling chassis in the Motor Company's diverse lineup." Frank goes on to say "the Softail line was for posers who preferred polishing chrome to putting on miles; the Dynas were built for real riders."


Engines


The Fat Boy originally came equipped with the Twin Cam 88 cubic inch or 1450 cc engine. For the 2007 model year, Harley-Davidson went to the Twin Cam 96, 1584 cc engine for all models in the Softail, Dyna and Touring families. The Fat Boy sports the 96B engine model, denoting that it is rigid mounted and counter-balanced. The engine on the Fat Bob is rubber mounted.


Styling


Total Motorcycle says the Fat Boy "defined the fat custom category," and "is the very definition of a heavyweight motorcycle, delivering a bold styling statement and wide comfortable riding stance." The Fat Boy features full front and rear fenders, chrome over and under shotgun exhaust with dual mufflers, rider floorboards and a heel-toe shifter. The Fat Bob comes with the dual chrome headlights, forward-mounted foot controls, drag-style handlebar and bobbed front and rear fenders. The Fat Bob's exhaust is a "Tommy Gun" two-into-one-into-two with dual mufflers.


Specifications


Of the two "Fat" models, the Fat Boy wins the beefy competition, with a dry weight of 694 pounds to the 669.7 pounds of the Fat Bob. The stock tires on Fat Boy are also a little fatter with a 140/75R17 in front and 200/55R17 in the rear compared to the front 130/90B16 and rear 180/70B16 of the Fat Bob. The Fat Boy edges out the Fat Bob in maximum torque with 93.7 foot-pounds at 3,000 rpm, to the Fat Bob's 92 foot-pounds of torque at 3,000 rpm. Despite its bulk, the Fat Boy gets slightly better gas mileage, 35 mpg in the city and 54 mpg highway compared to the Fat Bob's 34 mpg city and 53 mpg highway. The Fat Bob is a little less expensive. The 2011 base model suggested retail price on the Fat Bob is $14,999, while the Fat Boy has a suggested retail price of $15,999 and a price of $16,374 with a color option.

Remove Harley Fairing

Removing the fairing from an Ultra Classic is easier than it looks.


While removing the imposing bat wing-styled fairing from a Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic is not a task that is required very often, it has to be done to gain access to the motorcycle's electrical and sound systems. Although it can look very difficult to accomplish, removing the fairing is actually quite easy since it is secured by a handful of screws. Using a single Torx driver, the entire outer fairing can be removed, but take your time to avoid damaging both the fairing and the auxiliary driving lamps.


Instructions


1. Park the motorcycle on a smooth, level surface. Check the side stand to ensure that it is locked into place. Prepare the motorcycle, covering the fuel tank and front fender with towels to prevent scratching the parts' painted finish. Wrap the auxiliary driving lights in a towel.


2. Using a Torx-27 driver, loosen the three bolts that secure the windshield to the outer fairing.


3. Place your foot on the side stand to prevent it from moving and turn the handlebars completely to the left. Locate the pair of Torx screws that secure the right side of the inner fairing to the outer fairing. Remove both screws using a Torx-27 driver.


4. Place your foot on the side stand to prevent it from moving and turn the handlebars completely to the right. Locate the pair of Torx screws that secure the left side of the inner fairing to the outer fairing. Remove both screws using a Torx-27 driver.


5. Remove the windshield screws from the outer fairing, starting with the outer screws first. Remove the center screw and slide the windshield upwards and out of the outer fairing. Set the windshield aside.


6. Stand in front of the motorcycle and pull the upper edge of the outer fairing towards you. Reach into the fairing and disconnect the wiring harness from the headlight. Pull the outer fairing towards you, using a side-to-side motion, until the outer fairing has completely detached from the motorcycle.

Coal mining is not just honest, back-breaking and dangerous work--it's filthy. Washing miner laundry is a true challenge, because coal dust is both fine and gritty. It is possible to remove coal dust from your miner's clothing, but it will take some work. Fortunately, we are far removed from the days when laundering coal dust meant boiling water, hand scrubbing on a washboard, lye soap and an iron too hot to hold. Instructions


1. Fill a bucket, basin or sink with hot water.


2. Add 4 to 6 healthy squirts of a good de-greasing cleanser, like dish soap that is formulated specifically to break through grease.


3. Let the clothing soak overnight.


4. Fill your washing machine with cold water and add an appropriate amount of a premium detergent that is designed to work in cold water. According to an informal study done by senior lecturer in apparel and textiles at North Dakota State University, Sara Sunderlin, in April 2010, the more expensive cold water detergents actually do get better results.


5. Set your washing machine for cold water wash and rinse with heavy agitation and let the clothing run through the cycle. Coal dust requires a high-surfactant detergent that breaks the surface tension of water, allowing it to attract grease and dust. Cold water detergents are very high-surfactant.


6. Remove the clothing from the washing machine and inspect it. If there is still visible coal dust, repeat steps 1 through 5. Dry the clothes in your automatic dryer on whatever setting you would normally use.

About Power Wheels


Power Wheels is a popular line of miniature vehicles made for children to drive around. Packed with a variety of realistic features, these tiny cars have been amusing children for years. Currently, the Power Wheels line is still going strong, and its variety is continuing to grow.


Time Frame


The Power Wheels toy brand got its start in 1984 with the acquisition of Pines of America by Kransco. At the time, Pines of America, which was taken over by Kransco, manufactured battery-operated vehicles for young children. In 1986 the name was officially changed to Power Wheels, and its sales reached well over a million units yearly by 1990. The year 1994 brought the sale of the company to Mattel, thus giving the brand to Fischer Price.


Features


Power Wheels vehicles for children come in a large variety, ranging from trucks and cars to Harley Davidson motorcycles. More advanced features have become available in Power Wheels over the years. Much like real vehicles, the cars have windshield wipers, radios and power-lock brakes. Some including opening doors and hoods. Most also have two separate speeds to travel in and a gear to go in reverse.


Types


The original Power Wheels offered the standard cars and trucks to choose from. When ownership changed hands to Fischer Price, the Harley Davidson motorcycle was introduced. Recently miniature versions of actual cars are among the most popular in production. Models such as the Ford Mustang, Jeep Wrangler and Cadillac Escalade EXT have become widespread. With the release of Pixar's movie "Cars," Lighting McQueen, the movie's star, was made into a Power Wheels car for children.


Warning


Power Wheels have had their share of safety issues over the years. A Porsche model was recalled in 1991 because the gas pedal could become stuck and the vehicle could not stopped. In 1998, close to 10 million units were recalled for repairs to prevent overheating. Battery fuses and connectors had to be changed to fix the problem, though unrepaired vehicles can still be found through auction sites like eBay.


Potential


Power Wheels offer an exciting product marketed to both entertain and teach children. It helps them to understand not only the basic parts of a car or truck but also the mechanics of driving. As the company continues to grow and advance, new brands of popular cars and other vehicles will become available and more features will be added to make the product more appealing and fun.

Change A Pocket Watch Battery

1. Flip over your pocket watch. Remove the back of your watch. The back of watches are either screwed on by four small Phillips head screws (unscrew them) or the watch has a press inserted back (slide a thin knife blade under the edge of the back of the watch and pry it off).


2. Remove the circular watch battery out of the back of the watch.


3. Take the battery to any department store or watch store and purchase a new replacement battery.


4. Insert the new battery into the back of the watch.


5. Screw on or push on the back of the watch. Set the watch to the correct time.

Suzuki Marauder Seat Removal

A worn, tattered seat can make a motorcycle look ragged.


The seat of your Suzuki Marauder can undergo a great deal of wear and tear if you ride the motorcycle frequently. You can repair seams, cracks, rips and splits in a seat, but a time will come when you must remove and replace it---especially with older motorcycles. Removing the Marauder's seat only involves loosening a few screws; you can have the seat off in a matter of minutes.


Instructions


1. Insert the Marauder's ignition key into the seat lock, and turn the key to unlock it.


2. Look carefully at the rear seat bolt, which sits just behind the rear seat. You need either a socket wrench or a screwdriver with an appropriate tip to remove this bolt, depending on whether you bought the motorcycle used and the previous owner customized the seat.


3. Pull the rear seat strap forward, then off the rear seat.


4. Pull the rear seat up and from the Marauder. After doing so, you will reveal two screws at the rear of the front seat. Remove these screws.


5. Lift up the front seat, and undo the tab near the full tank to detach the front seat.

Honda Chopper Projects

Not all choppers are Harley-Davidsons.


The "chopper" trend began when soldiers returning from World War II began customizing their motorcycles -- almost exclusively Harley-Davidsons. The trend continued through the post-Vietnam era, when the Chopper trend collided with the counter-culture to produce "Captain America," the famous chopper ridden by Peter Fonda in the movie Easy Rider. In recent years, the Cafe Racer trend, generally using British Bikes, and the Chopper craze has crossed paths with the abundant and reliable Honda.


Popular Models for Honda Choppers


Choppers are powered by large engines, so Hondas before the CB750s of the early '70s were seldom used. The CB750s were used to make inline four-cylinder choppers, rather than the typical, V-twin, Harley-Davidson layout. Later-model Honda V-Twins, such as the Magna, provided more traditional engines for Honda chopper projects.


Typical Honda Chopper Modifications


The term "chopper" is used because the motorcycle frames are cut, or "chopped." Two features unique to choppers are an extended frame and long front forks, said to have a lot of "rake" or angle, rather than the nearly perpendicular forks of sport-bikes. The results of long frames and long, rakey forks is a motorcycle that handles very leisurely. Another modification is to remove the rear swing-arm and modify the frame so the rear axle bolts directly to the frame with no rear suspension at all. This modification, like most chopper mods, are more about style than functionality. Most other Honda chopper mods are an attempt to create a unique style, often by removing as many parts as possible.


Modern Honda Chopper Projects


While we usually think of Honda Projects as being older motorcycles -- 1980s or older -- the popularity of choppers has inspired Honda to make factory choppers. In keeping with Harley-Davidson, owners are encouraged to immediately customize factory Honda choppers with accessories to make them unique. Honda's "Fury" is the latest factory chopper to make an excellent platform for a custom project.

Remove Buell Rotor Bolts

Buell rotors are special brake components made for motorcycles. The rotor is a disc that sits in the center of the wheel on the motorcycle and turns with the wheel. A brake caliper clamps down on the rotor when the driver applies the brakes. When the rotor becomes scored from normal use, you'll need to replace it. First, you need to know remove the rotor bolts. Because they are aluminum, and thus soft, they can be rather tricky to remove without stripping the head off the bolt.


Instructions


1. Apply heat to the area around the Buell rotor bolt. Do not heat the rotor bolt head directly. Heating the area around the bolt will cause the surrounding metal to expand, allowing you to remove the bolt more easily.


2. Place the appropriate sized socket over the bolt head. Make sure you are using a six-point socket. The size of the socket you will need varies according to the bike you have.


3. Turn the bolt counterclockwise to remove. If the bolt does not want to come off, repeat Step 1 and reheat the area around the bolt. Once you remove the bolt, do not reuse it.
