Swap Apartments

Apartment swapping is usually done on a short term basis, as a means of taking a vacation, or doing short term business, in another area, without paying for a place to stay. Most apartment swaps are done by the week, the month or the season. An apartment swap can be done within the same state, throughout the country and even internationally.

Instructions

1. Read the lease or the rental agreement on your apartment to see if apartment swapping violates the lease in anyway. Pay attention to any statements about sub-leasing and how many days guests are allowed to stay in the apartment. In most cases, if you are apartment swapping for less than a month, there are no lease issues.

2. Consider using a reputable, apartment or home swap business to locate the other person and organize the swap. Swapping your apartment with a stranger can be risky business. A home swapping business uses a screening process to eliminate some of the risk. Most of these businesses charge a small fee for the service.

3. Place an ad in the classifieds if you decide not to use an apartment swapping business. Run the ad in the classifieds section of the newspaper in the area that you live in, as well as the newspaper in the area that you want to stay in during the swap. It is also a good idea to put ads out on the Internet.

4. Talk to the person on the phone a few times before agreeing to the apartment swap. Ask him about the area the apartment is located in. Get pictures of the apartment inside and outside.

5. Discuss what is included in the apartment swap. Sometimes people choose to swap cars with the apartment. If you are including your car think about who is responsible for car expenses and repairs should any be required in the swap.

6. Outline the responsibilities surrounding the apartment swap. If anyone has pets or house plants, know if they will be left in the apartment and who will take care of them. Talk about mail and newspaper delivery and other chores that might exist such as mowing the lawn.

7. Put everything in writing when agreeing to an apartment swap. Write down the terms of the swap including the exact dates, what is included in the swap, and whether or not any money should exchange hands. In most cases each party pays the rent and utilities on their own phone and the swap is made evenly without the exchange of money.

Get Power To An Outside Shed

If you have an outdoor shed that you wish to power for lights and electrical outlets, all that is required is a small amount of wiring knowledge and some basic components. The best way to get power to an outdoor shed is to run wiring underground. This protects the electrical feed from being knicked or cut by lawn equipment and keeps it from being a tripping hazard. The whole project should not take more than a day to complete. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Dig a trench to run the wiring and conduit from the home's main electrical panel to the outdoor shed. If possible, dig underneath the shed enough to run the wiring up through the floor.

2. Shut the main electrical panel off by switching off the main circuit breaker. Install a 60 amp breaker into the main electrical panel to power 20 amp breakers and outlets in the shed. Wire a 6 gauge electrical to the newly installed 60 amp breaker and feed the 6 gauge wire into PVC conduit. Once the 6 gauge wire is run through the PVC conduit, run the other end into the shed. Go up through the floor if possible. Drill a hole and pull the wiring up through it.

3. Mount a mini electrical panel in the shed. Fasten it to a wall with screws or bolts using a screw gun. Install 20 amp breakers into the empty mini electrical panel to provide power to various lights and outlets. Mount outlets and lights where needed in the shed with screws. Run 14/3 wiring from the mini panel to any light receptacles and 12/3 wiring to any outlets.

4. Test the outlets and lights. Turn the power back on at the main electrical panel. Turn on the lights and plug in a radio or small hand tool such as a sander or circular saw into the outlets to see if power is running to each light and outlet. Bury the PVC conduit by filling the trench.

Minimize The Exhaust Popping On A Harley

Harley exhaust does not have to be loud.

All exhaust popping or backfiring on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle is caused by fuel combustion in the exhaust manifold or the header pipes. Generally speaking, it may be caused by a an exhaust manifold leak. Check for that by spraying light, penetrating oil on the exhaust manifold while your bike is running in neutral and look for bubbles. Most exhaust popping on a Harley is actually deceleration backfire. Deceleration backfire results from a chain of events that begins with reduced pressure in the cylinders. Conventional wisdom says the noise can be ameliorated by fattening the tune of the engine.

Instructions

1. Start the motorcycle in neutral. Close the petcock and run the Harley until the carburetor runs out of gas.

2. Remove the entire air cleaner assembly. Remove the cover with an Allen wrench. Use Torx drivers or sockets to remove the air cleaner.

3. Remove the breather tubes by hand. Remove the backing plate by unbolting the two retaining bolts with a socket wrench.

4. Unclip the choke assembly from its bracket under and on the left side of the gas tank.

5. Mark the throttle cables with masking tape and disconnect them. Loosen the hose clamp that connects the fuel line to the carburetor with a flat-head screwdriver and disconnect the fuel line.

6. Gently pull the carburetor from the seal ring that attaches the carburetor to the intake manifold. Set the carburetor upside down on a bed of clean rags on a flat, stable surface.

7. Drill a 1/16-inch hole in the factory sealing plug that covers the fuel-air, low speed adjusting screw. Pry the plug out of the low speed adjusting screw well with a machinist's awl (scratch awl). Note the location of the idle speed adjuster screw.

8. Reconnect the carburetor to the intake manifold by re-seating it in the rubber seal ring. Reinstall the air cleaner backing plate and air cleaner.

9. Reattach the fuel line and the two throttle cables. Snap the throttle to ensure the throttle cables are properly reconnected.

10. Open the petcock and start the Harley. Allow the motorcycle to run until the rocker head covers are warm to the touch before tuning the carburetor.

11. Insert a small, flat-head screwdriver into the low speed adjusting screw well. Turn the screw 1/8-turn counterclockwise.

12. Adjust the idle speed adjuster screw with the same tool until the engine begins to stumble. Turn the low speed adjusting screw another 1/8-turn clockwise.

13. Reattach the air cleaner. Test-drive the motorcycle.

Remove The Primary Cover On My 2005 Harley Davidson Fatboy

The primary cover on the 2005 Harley-Davidson Fatboy covers the chain used to connect the engine's crankshaft and the transmission. If you need to service the primary chain, you must drain the primary fluid and remove the primary cover from the left side of the motorcycle. This will give you access to the crankshaft sprocket, primary chain and the transmission output sprocket.

Instructions

1. Locate the drain plug on the bottom right corner of the primary cover on the left side of the Fatboy. Remove the drain plug and drain the primary fluid into a drain pan. Use an Allen wrench to remove the plug.

2. Remove the Allen-head bolts that secure the primary cover to the engine and transmission using an Allen wrench. Depending on the engine size and transmission, you will locate between 10 and 14 bolts.

3. Pull the cover off the engine and transmission. Be prepared to clean up some oil with a towel. In most cases, not all of the oil drains through the plug.

The History Of The Harley Davidson Softail

Originally, the word "softail" referred to a bicycle or motorcycle with a mobile rear suspension system. Spring-loaded shock absorbers would absorb bumps. Since the 1970s, however, the term has been associated with Harley-Davidson, who rolled the first Softail off the production line in 1982.

Origins

The Harley Softail design originated in the 1970s. Unhappy with the styling of his 1972 FX Super Glide, Bill Davis of Saint Louis, Missouri started on a custom version. It earned so much praise that he hired an attorney and filed US Patent 4087109 in March 1976.

First Meetings

In August 1976, Davis met with Willie G. and Louie Netz of Harley-Davidson. While they liked the new machine, they did not buy. Davis continued to tweak his design and sold around twenty frames. He also worked on a version for the Sportster.

Davis entered into a business partnership with a person whom, according to Greg Field in the book "Harley-Davidson Softail," he still refuses to name. Six months later Willie G. wrote to express his interest, followed by a call from Jeff Bleustein. While Davis did meet with Harley-Davidson again, he did not like their offer.

Sub Shock

Davis continued to refine his work, realizing that he could put the shocks under the transmission. The old design had several problems such as the excessively high saddle, and this new "Sub Shock" design fixed them.

In August 1980, Davis and his partner rode to Sturgis, one each on the original '72 FX and the modified Sub Shock. The ride revealed a serious design flaw on the Sub Shock (the build-up of heat was breaking down the urethane cylinders and destroying the shocks).

The partner took home the Sub Shock and when Davis reached Deadwood, South Dakota he was robbed. He returned home without ever reaching Sturgis and experimented on his new design until it worked.

Road Worx

Davis started a new company, Road Worx. The new frames were labor-intensive and required hand-building, so he hired another mechanic. While the frames were selling, they weren't covering the loans fast enough and the company's attorney advised a quick sale. The business partner left, and Davis was unable to find any takers among the established customizers or motorcycle manufacturers. RoadWorx failed.

Davis called Bleustein again and received a better offer--but his royalties would be subject to a lifetime cap. Davis reluctantly sealed the deal on January 6, 1982 and the first Harley Softail, the FXST, was introduced in the summer of 1983.

Models

The Softail was immediately popular and considerably boosted sales. The Heritage Softail came out in 1986, followed two years later by the Springer Softail.

In 2000, Harley introduced the Softail Deuce, and a year later the bike was equipped with fuel injection. Models since 2005 have tended to evoke designs from classic, older Harley-Davidson lines.

Ever popular, the Softail will continue to evolve and be a staple part of the Harley-Davidson lineup.

Draw A Harley Davidson Motorcycle Engine

Draw a Harley Davidson Motorcycle Engine

Harley Davidson motorcycles are considered by many to be an integral part of Americana. In addition to being somewhat of a status symbol, Harley Davidson bikes are part of the pinnacle of coolness popularized in film and TV. The engine lies at the heart of the motorcycle, the part that's responsible for that signature HD sound, and drawing the famed V2 engine means paying attention to detail to create a reasonable rendition of the subject matter.

Instructions

1. Draw a V in the center of your paper sized according to how large or small you want your engine to be. Use a ruler, if desired, to create straighter lines. Draw another V shape spaced a few inches underneath the first shape. Draw two slanted lines at the tops of the shapes that connect the two Vs. You should now have one large V on your paper.

2. Add a large circle between the V and erase any overlapping lines. Draw a square a little underneath the circle that covers the tip of the V. Erase any overlapping lines. Erase the right side of the square and replace it with a 45 degree line. Draw a small circle on the top right angle of the line you just drew and draw another small circle in the center of the square. Erase any overlapping lines.

3. Add details to this basic shape of the V2 engine to flesh it out. Look at a picture of a Harley to see small details such as the caps of the engine (two small rectangles that lie over the tops of the V shape), bolts and horizontal lines across the two vertical parts of the V. Write "Eighty Cubic Inches" across the big circle and add "V2" to the small circle in the middle of the square. Trace your drawing in black ink to make your art stand out on the page.

Harleydavidson Birthday Cake Ideas

Harley-Davidson Logo

The Harley-Davidson Motor Co. has become a staple of the motorcycle industry. It is arguably the most popular motorcycle brand on the planet, with its logo on its bikes and every conceivable product on the market--coolers, clothes, dishware, lighters, towels, ashtrays, clocks, even funeral markers are stamped with that distinctive shield. Does this Spark an idea?

Logo

Re-creating the logo is an easy way to make your cake a Harley-Davidson cake. Print the logo off the Internet and use it as a stencil, or just dive in and freehand it. Just make sure you get that distinctive logo front and center.

Colors

Your cake isn't going to be a Harley-Davidson cake if you use pinks and greens. Harley-Davidson cakes need to feature the Harley-Davidson colors: orange, black and white.

Motorcycles

It's not a Harley-Davidson cake without the original Harley-Davidson product--a motorcycle. Building an edible motorcycle takes some serious ability, so you can cheat by buying a motorcycle toy or model. Put it in a place of honor on your cake, but clean it well before you do.

Scenery

Paint road scenery in icing on the face and sides of the cake--grass, some sidewalk, and most importantly, the open road. Black icing for the street and yellow icing center lines look great.

Professional Cakes

Don't feel like making your cake? No problem. Get a cake made at a specialty bakery. Just bring in a photo of your bike or anything else that you feel screams Harley-Davidson. Work with the cake maker to design it, then sit back, relax and wait for the motorcycle monument to take shape.

Remove A Fairing Cap

The fairing cap is responsible for holding in place the ignition switch and four other switches: spotlight, speaker, cruise and accessory. The cap is located just in front of the driver of the motorcycle when seated. You must remove the fairing cap before you can remove the inner fairing. This task requires simple hand tools, making it a task any motorcycle owner can handle.

Instructions

1. Remove the ignition switch knob. Insert the key to your motorcycle in the ignition switch and turn to the "Unlock" position. Leaving the key in the ignition, turn the knob to "Access." Press the release button at the bottom left side of the switch with a small screwdriver. Press the key downward and turn 60 degrees, counterclockwise. Lift the knob to remove it.

2. Loosen the nut, collar and spacer on the bottom of the ignition switch knob. Placing a 7/8-inch wrench on the flats of the nut --- one on each side --- loosen the nut on the bottom of the switch. Completely remove the nut from the threaded post. Remove the collar and spacer.

3. Remove the switch position plate by gently pulling upward on the two tabs --- one on each side of the plate.

4. Remove the two screws and flat washers holding the fairing cap to the left and right sides of the inner fairing with a T27 torx drive head.

5. Disconnect the fairing cap switch connector located behind the right side of the fairing cap, by hand. Press the button on the socket terminal side to pull the pin and socket halves apart.

6. Disconnect the fairing cap from the motorcycle.

How Long Does It Take To Become A Paramedic

How Long Does It Take to Become a Paramedic?

What Is a Paramedic?

Paramedics are emergency medical technicians (EMTs) who come to the rescue of citizens who are in emergency medical situations. Paramedics analyze and decide the patient's condition and follow up with emergency, short-term treatment. After caring for the patient, paramedics transport the person to the nearest hospital, if necessary, for further treatment. Paramedics are required to check in and report the condition of the patient to hospital emergency room staff.

Requirements for Paramedics to Perform Well

For paramedics to perform well, they must be in good shape physically. They are always on call and must be prepared to work irregular hours when necessary. Paramedics work in very difficult settings and must be able to handle diverse situations.

How Long Does It Take to Become a Paramedic?

There are various licensing stages of emergency medical technicians that eventually lead to being licensed as a EMT-Paramedic. The time frame to become a licensed paramedic varies. On-the-job training is a major component of training.

The first step is graduating from high school. This is, generally, the basic requirement to be accepted into a paramedic preparation program. The subjects that students should focus on include English, science, physical education and health. It's also very beneficial to learn a second language or more. This skill will be very helpful when caring for foreign language-speaking patients. Some paramedic training schools suggest that serving in the community is also helpful experience for a prospective paramedic.

After high school graduation, the next step is enrollment in an EMT program. In the basic EMT program, students must do well in the course and achieve field experience. This field experience is acquired through local hospitals and community colleges. The EMT basic program training can be completed in anywhere from 18 to 24 months.

Students must pass a written and practical examination at the end of the program to become a certified EMT.

The next step is find a job to experience on-the-job training as an EMT. This is a necessity before you can become an official paramedic. The more advanced EMT, which is an EMT-B, can ride in ambulances. EMT-Bs are also often required to have a special driver's license.

While working as an EMT, it is important to acquire EMT Intermediate status. Depending on the state in which you live, the conditions may vary. Training for this status can range from 30 to 250 hours. Once this EMT Intermediate status is acquired, future paramedics learn supply intravenous fluids to patients and use sophisticated airway devices and many other types of medical devices and technology.

The Final Stage

The final stage of becoming a paramedic involves training as an EMT-Paramedic. This requires one to two additional years of community college and participating in an advanced training program. Study focuses on physiology and anatomy. After completing the EMT-Paramedic program, depending on the school and/or training program you enrolled in, you may receive either an associate's degree or a certificate of completion. Paramedics are required to be re-certified every two years to stay up to par on EMT knowledge and medical technology.

Attach Speakers To My Hdtv

Attaching speakers to a high definition television set isn't like attaching them to your computer. You don't attach speakers directly to the HDTV -- rather, you connect them to a receiver, which then itself gets connected to your HDTV. The steps you will follow to connect these devices depend heavily on what type of speakers and what type of receiver you actually end up buying.

Instructions

1. Attach speakers to your home theater receiver. The receiver is the device that processes the audio information from something like a DVD player, Blu-ray player or cable box and sends it out to the associated speakers for playing. If you've purchased something called a "home theater in a box", you have a receiver and a set of speakers all in one package. If you've purchased speakers separately from your receiver, the speakers must still be connected to the receiver in order to play content from your HDTV. Your speakers will have come with the necessary speaker wire to connect them to the receiver.

2. Connect your audio/video source device to your receiver. A home theater receiver will have many of the same audio and video inputs (if not more) that are also found on the back of your TV. Connect a device like a DVD player or a Blu-ray player directly to the receiver the same way you would connect it to the back of your HDTV using the included video cables.

3. Connect your home theater receiver to your HDTV. If your receiver and your HDTV both have HDMI inputs, use an HDMI cable. This will result in the highest quality audio and video transfer from one device to the next. If you have no HDMI inputs on the receiver (all HDTVs have at least one), use component audio and video cables. Once your television is connected to your receiver, the speakers connected to the receiver will be connected to your HDTV as well.

Finance A Rim & Tire Package

With good credit history and a steady monthly income, you can finance a rim and tire package.

One way to customize your automobile is to install new tires and rims. Because rims are sized for particular wheels, many retailers sell tires and rims as packages, which range in style and price. If you are not able to pay for the entire package, you may want to consider financing. Depending on your monthly budget and credit history, you may be able to finance one of these packages from a participating retailer.

Instructions

1. Organize your current bills and loans, including your normal expenditures, such as food and savings, so that you know how much money you can afford to finance. Only consider financing if you make more money than you spend each month.

2. Search various retailers that sell tire and rims and offer packages on the two. You can locate stores in your area by searching in the local phone book for tire centers and automotive retailers. You can also find retailers online, some of which may offer rim and tire financing.

3. Speak to a store associate about financing options. Not all stores offer financing, so before you decide on a package, make sure that the store offers financing in order to purchase the package.

4. Fill out a loan application at the store. You will need your identification, financial information, and social security number so the store can run a credit history check on you. If you have poor or delinquent credit, you may not be able to finance a rim and tire package from the store. There is no set credit score to be able to finance, however, so the retailer will ultimately make the decision.

5. Read the loan terms carefully and know your rights. The store must give you a clear and legible copy of what will be expected of you. This document must contain the financing terms, such as the total amount financed, the monthly payment and the interest. It must also clearly disclose any additional costs or fees associated with the loan. If you do not think that you will be able to meet the terms of the loan or faithfully repay the loan, you should not sign the agreement. A failure to meet the terms of the financing could cause you to establish negative credit, which could prevent you from financing items in the future.

6. Sign the loan agreement and make all required monthly payments until your loan has been repaid.

Attach A Sidecar To A Harley

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary online, a sidecar is an attachment that is connected to the side of a motorcycle so an additional passenger can travel with the bike. Sidecars have been a part of the leisure motorcycle world for many years. However, the Motorvation website explains that locating sidecars -- as well as a business that will attach one -- can be a challenge. The majority of motorcycle owners and shops do not focus on sidecars. It is possible for an individual to install his own sidecar as long as certain steps are followed.

Instructions

1. Research sidecars and be sure to purchase one that is designed for the specific Harley motorcycle. The Motorvation website explains that buying an older or ill-fitting sidecar is dangerous, so it is important to weigh the overall price, look, and safety. The Cycle Sidecar website explains that the individual will also need to purchase a universal mounting kit in order to install the sidecar.

2. Use the U-clamps from the universal clip to hold the frame so the space block can be inserted and screwed into place. The Cycle Sidecar website explains that the eyebolt should be slid through the spacer and then tightened. There will be two more points of the side of the motorcycle where the individual will need to use U-clamps in order to insert space blocks and eyebolts.

3. Loosen the two holding bolts on the front of the sidecar frame. The Cycle Sidecar website explains that a curved bar should be inserted into the sidecar frame and then re-tightened. Position the back clamp onto the back of the sidecar and tighten it.

4. Insert a sleeve over an eyebolt and then position the eyebolt into the back clamp on the rear portion of the sidecar. Tighten the eyebolt by using a nut. Remove the two eyebolts from the long struts and insert them into the front and rear holes in the frame of the sidecar.

5. Check that the sidecar is positioned next to the Harley. The Cycle Sidecar website explains the sidecar wheels should be 8 to 10 inches in front of the rear motorcycle wheel. Move the strut adjusting bolts to the eyebolts on each of the U-clamps before tightening them down.

6. Check all of the steps to make sure that the sidecar is attached correctly. The Cycle Sidecar website explains that the entire process should take the individual 4 to 5 hours.

Troubleshoot An Oil Leak In The Air Cleaner Of A Harley Davidson

Maintain the proper oil level to avoid damaging your Harley-Davidson's engine.

The presence of oil leaking from your Harley-Davidson's air cleaner is the first symptom of a condition called "blowby," which allows the pressure generated within the engine's combustion chamber to blow past the pistons. This pressure forces oil out of the engine crankcase and into the air cleaner. Blowby affects the engine's ability to compress air and fuel to create the combustive force needed to operate. However, a similar oil leak can occur if the motorcycle's oil tank is overfilled. Though the second cause is not as harmful, it can cause blowby if it is not quickly dealt with.

Instructions

Oil Level Check

1. Start the engine and let it idle in place for three minutes to allow the engine oil to warm in the oil tank. Stop the engine, then let the oil settle for five minutes.

2. Check the oil level using the dipstick attached to the oil tank. If the oil level is above the upper mark on the dipstick, the oil tank is overfilled. The tank has a vent tube that leads into the engine crankcase, where it will eventually be blown into the air cleaner through a separate breather tube.

3. Drain out the excess oil, using a hand pump, until the oil level is between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick.

Compression Testing

4. Remove the spark plugs from both engine cylinders using a 5/8-inch spark plug socket and a socket wrench. Push the spark plugs into the spark plug cables, then ground the spark plug electrodes against the engine cylinders to avoid damaging the ignition coil.

5. Screw a compression gauge into the front cylinder spark plug hole. Twist the throttle grip into a completely open position.

6. Turn the ignition on and press the starter button to build up pressure in the front cylinder. Release the starter button once the compression gauge needle no longer moves. Ideally, the gauge should indicate a minimum compression of 125 psi.

7. Remove the spark plug if the compression is less than 125 psi. Pour a half-ounce of SAE 20W-50 motorcycle-grade engine oil into the cylinder, then retest the cylinder's compression. If the compression reading increases, the piston rings and the cylinder must be overhauled because the piston can no longer maintain a seal against the cylinder wall.

8. Unscrew the compression gauge and place it in the rear engine cylinder. Check the cylinder's compression using the same method as for the front cylinder.

9. Screw the spark plugs into the engine cylinders and tighten them to 18 foot-pounds using a torque wrench.

Paint Tank Emblems

Paint Tank Emblems

Emblems are fun and creative ways to decorate motorcycle tanks. Many motorcycle emblems are made of chrome and are pre-installed to all tanks. Painting your own tank emblem, however, can be accomplished using the right tools and paint. Contact a motorcycle professional with additional questions on add spice and flavor to your emblem.

Instructions

1. Trace the outline of the emblem onto a piece of PVC vinyl fabric. Cut out the design carefully with a set of hand shears. PVC or nylon fabric is flexible for cutting intricate designs and is easy to adhere to the tank for tracing and painting.

2. Rub the tank clean of dust and grime with a soft, clean cloth on the area where you will paint the emblem. Apply a piece of tape to each corner of the PVC vinyl fabric stencil. Stretch the material until there is no give and press the tape onto the tank. The stencil cut-out should cover the area you intend to paint your emblem.

3. Trace the stencil outline onto the tank with a permanent marker. Permanent marker will write on chrome. Use a thin-tipped marker to mask the outline. Paint the stencil with an acrylic-based lacquer. Allow three hours for the paint to dry. Remove the stencil.

Motorcycle Ignition Problems

Motorcycle Ignition Problems

Motorcycle ignition systems are exposed to very harsh operating conditions. Many components are exposed to the elements. High engine temperatures effect the components and cause insulation breakdown (IB), especially on air-cooled models. Vibration is more pronounced on motorcycles, which can lead to early component failure. While the components are built with these considerations in mind, the components still fail occasionally and either disrupt or disable the ignition system.

Troubleshooting the Components

Each component of the ignition system may be individually tested, starting at the end of the system and working to the other end. Isolate and de-energize each component, starting with the spark plugs. Pull the plugs and check for fouling and poor spark plug gapping. Pull the spark plug wires off of the coil and perform a resistance check through each wire. Check for resistance and IB through both the primary and secondary side of the ignition coil. Check the crankshaft position sensor for resistance and damage and insure that it is properly positioned. Replace any damaged or out-of-specification parts.

Ignition Module

The ignition module controls the timing of the ignition based on engine RPMs and information from the crankshaft position sensor. Built with solid-state construction and aided by a programmed-in power curve, the ignition module delivers electricity to the primary side of the ignition coil, causing the plugs to fire at the optimal time. Ignition modules cannot be tested, but must instead be identified as bad through a process of elimination. Test all other components and associated wiring first and if they all test as good, then the ignition module must be bad.

Things You Will Need

A complete set of mechanic's tools is a must, in both standard and metric. A good, click type (not swing-bar type) 3/8 inch torque wrench is another must-have so the proper torque can be applied during reassembly. Buy an electrical testing tool (multi-meter) to make your continuity, resistance and IB tests. Meters with digital displays instead of analog are easier to use, more accurate and usually can perform a wider variety of tasks than analog meters.

Remove The Seat On A Harley Heritage Classic Soft Tail

Remove the Seat on a Harley Heritage Classic Soft Tail

Although it may seem trivial, knowing remove the seat from your Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic is required to perform some of the maintenance items you will need later. In fact, some of the items that may need attention every now and then, such as your battery or fuses, reside in the area directly below your seat. Luckily, removing the seat requires a very short learning curve and will only take a few minutes.

Instructions

Seat Removal

1. Remove the passenger seat strap by removing the Torx head screw from the strap's bracket on either side of the seat. Lift the loose end of the strap over the seat and lay it down gently to prevent damaging the fender.

Build Your Own Gaming Laptop

Build Your Own Gaming Laptop

Building your own computer is a satisfactory way to save money and ensure that your machine is built in exactly the specifications you would like. The benefits are twofold; most machines that you purchase in a store won't ever come quite the way you want them to, and they will also come loaded with software you don't need or want. Secondly, it's enjoyable to be able to show your friends the computer you built yourself. Building a laptop is no exception. For the hardcore gamer, building their own machine means they'll get the most out of every game they play. But before you go out and start buying and ordering parts, be sure to consider the following.

Instructions

1. Get yourself a laptop case that you're comfortable with. Empty desktop computer cases can be purchased (in limited variety) at stores like Best Buy. However, laptops are different. You'll more than likely have to purchase your case online, but there will be a wide variety to choose from. The only downside is you won't be able to hold it in your hands before you make the purchase. Get something that suits your needs. If you want to be able to take your laptop with you wherever you go, be sure to get something sleek, as long as it can fit all the other parts you're about to buy.

2. Buy a fast processor and lots of RAM. In computer gaming, speed is everything. With game specifications advancing the way they are, you don't want the hot new game six months from now to shutter every few seconds while you try to play it. The more RAM you buy, the better. A fast processor is also a must. This will also save you an upgrade down the road if you buy a lot now.

3. Get a high-end video card. Second only to speed, graphics are hugely important in computer gaming. If you're building your own machine, there is no excuse to not get the best graphics card you can buy. It'll improve the gaming experience overall, and make sure you're getting maximum clarity whenever you play.

4. Buy a big hard drive. The installation size of computer games gets bigger and bigger with every new release, so make sure that you get a hard drive big enough to handle as many games as possible. You don't want to be caught without enough space to play whatever game you've just purchased.

5. Consider how you want to listen to your games. A good sound card is a must, as more and more games are relying on excellent sound design to create a "total immersion" experience for the gamer. With your sound card you can get a high end pair of portable speakers, or a nice pair of headphones. Sometimes a $100 pair of headphones will work better than any set of laptop speakers. Plus, it means you can play as loud as you want no matter what time of day or night it is.

6. Purchase a network card. Many, many games nowadays offer the ability to play with people all over the world on the internet. The easiest way to do this is to ensure that you can connect to the internet wherever you go, which means you're going to need a network card.

Make A Horror Film

Anyone with a camcorder can make a horror film, the easiest kind of film to make and maybe the most fun, too. Horror films, especially zero budget films, test the limits of a director's creativity. Grab your camcorder and start planning your 65-minute horror film.

Instructions

1. Start with your monster(s) by trolling through the house and cheap junk shops for potential costumes: an old mop, distressed camouflage clothing, a dented helmet. Use your imagination to turn them into things that go bump in the night. Broken tools or toys make great space weapons after the hot glue gun gets done with them. Collect odds and ends from yards on trash day. At this price, you can afford to have three or four scary monsters and kill some of them off during the film.

2. Scout out free locations to film. Nearly everyone lives near historic buildings, old cemeteries or streets that look scary at night. Many public buildings such as schools and libraries will let you film in them (but ask permission first). Even a backyard can stand in for a swamp or a car can provide a location.

3. Get lots of friends in on the act. Plan some mob scenes or kill six or seven unsuspecting teenagers in one sequence. Film mob sequences during the weekend when people can attend.

4. Write a script, which doesn't have to be much more than detailed descriptions of five set pieces. As in "Anaconda," provide at least three settings in which to scare (the boat, the river, the abandoned mill). Each of the set pieces should advance the plot, which in this case means learning more about the monster(s).

5. Sweeten the finished film with post production music, sound effects and screams. Invest some time in polished credits, but remember: Many films today bypass opening credits or only provide the title before the actual film experience.

6. Publicize your magnum opus by making a three-minute trailer and posting on popular video sites such as YouTube. Email influential bloggers or high-profile sites such as Rotten Tomatoes, inviting them to review your film.

7. Create a web page for your film so potential investors can contact you or Hollywood producers can hire you to make a movie for real.

Samsung Lcd Tv Repair Tips

Samsung LCD TV Repair Tips

Samsung is known for producing high-quality LCD televisions with excellent imaging and sound. Unfortunately, LCD televisions, like all electronics, are subject to problems on occasion. Common Samsung LCD problems include a television with sound but no picture, sometimes due to a faulty power supply. Although these problems can be difficult to fix by yourself, it is sometimes possible to extend your television's warranty by contacting Samsung.

Diagnosing and Fixing A TV With No Picture

Problems can often occur with even relatively new Samsung LCD TVs. Some customers report their screen going black shortly after turning on the television, even though the TV's speakers continue to produce sound. You can test and rule out a number of things before concluding that your TV has a hardware defect.

First, check the input settings of your television. Often, users will experience a dark screen when first turning on their television if the selected input corresponds with a turned-off or unplugged input, such as a gaming system or DVD player. If the problem persists, try reconnecting all cables on the back or sides of the television. It's possible that one of your cables has gone dead. If you have access to other cables, try swapping these in and see if the problem persists. Some customers report that turning the television off and unplugging it for an extended period of time, up to 24 hours, can fix the black-screen issue.

Power Supply Issues

If you've tried all of these suggestions and problems persist, it's possible that the power supply inside the television is defective or broken. The power supply for most Samsung LCD televisions will cost around $150, with labor costs of around $250. Unless you have a fair amount of TV repair expertise, this is probably not the sort of repair you'd want to attempt yourself. Also be aware that occasionally, especially with older television models, the part you need might be out of stock. Getting a back-ordered part shipped to you or your local repair shop could take up to a month.

Warranty Information

If you register your Samsung LCD TV online, your standard one-year warranty may be subject to a three-month extension. Be sure to save your bill of sale; Samsung might ask you to send them a faxed copy of it when you ask for your warranty extension. If your television is still within its warranty period, it's probably best to contact Samsung and ask for a replacement television, or a professional repair service. Problems that fix themselves may crop up and become permanent over time, and you don't want to be stuck with a costly repair outside of your warranty period.

Install Pipes On A Harley Classic

Aftermarket pipes can provide more power and a deep rumble.

The Ultra Classic has remained one of Harley-Davidson's most popular motorcycles over the years. However, many Ultra Classic owners replace the bike's stock exhaust pipes with aftermarket systems to gain an increase in power and lend a deep rumble to the motorcycle's exhaust note. Installing a new set of pipes is not difficult, but does require a few specialized tools. If you install new pipes, you should also upgrade the motorcycle's air intake and fuel delivery systems to compensate for the changes in the exhaust system.

Instructions

1. Park the motorcycle on a stand or lift to support it in an vertical position and provide greater access to the exhaust system. Allow the motorcycle to cool for at least one hour.

2. Loosen the mufflers and header pipes. Use a flat screwdriver to loosen the exhaust clamps along the length of the exhaust. Locate the oxygen sensors on both header pipes and remove them with a 7/8-inch oxygen sensor socket.

3. Remove the mufflers. Use a Torx driver to remove the bolts that secure the muffler to the frame. Pull the muffler off of the header pipes, using a slight side-to-side motion. Completely remove any bolts along the length of the header pipes with a Torx driver. Remove the nuts from the header pipe flanges with a socket wrench equipped with a swiveling extender. Pull the header pipes apart at the crossover tube and pull the header pipes out of the motor.

4. Clean the exhaust mounting points and the surrounding area on the motorcycle's frame with a grease-cutting cleaner. Remove the exhaust gaskets from the motor and replace them with new gaskets.

5. Assemble the new exhaust system loosely onto the motorcycle, installing the new header pipes first. Apply a drop of anti-seize compound to the oxygen sensors' threads and screw the oxygen sensors into place using an oxygen sensor socket. Adjust the header pipes and mufflers until everything is aligned. Tighten the header pipes exhaust flange nuts first, using a socket wrench equipped with a swiveling extender. Work your way down the exhaust system, tightening the exhaust clamps with a flat screwdriver. Tighten the muffler bolts using a Torx driver.

6. Spray the new exhaust system with window cleaner to remove any fingerprints or oil. Wipe dry with a clean shop towel.

Improve Overtheair Digital Tv Reception

Boost your signal strength with the proper antenna and converter box.

There are five main things you need to know to improve your reception if you didn't switch to cable or satellite after June 12, 2009. You can still receive a clear digital picture on your analog TV through your digital converter box, provided all your equipment is in proper alignment to receive the maximum broadcast signals.

Instructions

1. Know your TV channels. The digital channel number that replaced the old analog channel can impact your reception due to the three channel "bands." The bands are called Low VHF (Channels 2 through 6), High VHF (Channels 7 through 13) and UHF (Channels 14 through 51). Channels on the Low VHF band are the most difficult to receive, while UHF channels are the easiest. Most digital TV channels will be on UHF after the transition is complete, but there will be a small number on VHF that are more difficult to receive. Consequently, you might be getting the best picture possible on those channels, even if it is fuzzy.

2. Know your equipment. View the signal strength indicator on your digital converter box to determine what your stronger and weaker channels are. If the indicator says a certain channel's signal is weak, there isn't much you can do about the reception. Also make sure all cabling connections between your antenna, converter box and TV are correct and not loose.

3. Know your antenna. Digital TV is an "all-or-nothing" deal. If you had trouble with receiving a channel on analog, you're probably getting nothing (or a boxy picture with no sound) on digital. Your antenna setup is very important for this reason. You may need an indoor antenna, two indoor antennas, an outdoor antenna or an amplified indoor or outdoor antenna. Sometimes moving an antenna a couple of inches in one direction can make all the difference. If you think you are close to picking up a signal, turn on the signal strength indicator on your converter box and move your antenna until the signal strength is sufficient. Then move away from your antenna and see if the picture and sound are OK.

4. Know where the transmitters are. You should try to point your antenna in the direction of where the station's transmitter is located. For really strong channels this may not matter as much, since your antenna should pick up the stronger channels. That leaves you with the weaker channels. If you have an outdoor antenna, this may require the help of a professional. If you have an indoor antenna, this may take some experimenting, or other strategies, such as an amplifier or multiple antennas.

5. Know possible sources of interference. Digital TV is very sensitive and is more difficult to receive than analog channels. A digital TV signal can be lost from things such as electronic equipment near an antenna, nearby houses or terrain, bad weather, even a person standing in the wrong place.

Replace A Throw Out Bearing

The throwout bearing is a small bearing that assists in the disengagement of the clutch. The bearing allows the clutch to smoothly operate within the gear box and is essential for proper clutch function. When and if you are changing the clutch, change the throwout bearing also. Replacing a throwout bearing is simple and can be accomplished by any do-it-yourself mechanic.

Instructions

1. Drive the car up on the wheel ramps and set the parking break. Jack up the rear of the car using floor jack and place on jack stands.

2. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery. Mark the driveshaft yoke ends for re-installation and loosen the drive shaft bolts. Remove the drive shaft and lay to the side.

3. Loosen transmission bolts slightly and place the barrel floor jack with a block of wood under the engine oil pan and support the engine.

4. Place the transmission jack under the transmission and secure holding straps in place around it. Unscrew and remove the bolts that secure the clutch bellhousing to the engine crankcase.

5. Start lowering the transmission jack to allow pressure off the input shaft and slide transmission to rear for removal. Do not allow weight of transmission to rest upon the input shaft while it is engaged with the splines of the clutch plate.

6. Check that none of the metal fingers, with the transmission removed, on the pressure plate are distorted or bent.

7. Loosen the mounting bolts a little at a time in a diagonal pattern so as not to distort the pressure plate. If the flywheel starts to turn, a screwdriver can be inserted in the starter motor opening and lodged in the flywheel teeth to restrict movement.

8. Remove the remaining bolts while the pressure plate is being supported. You now can remove the pressure plate and clutch disc. Clean all mating surfaces and the bearing area; be certain that all dirt, oil and debris have been removed.

9. Inspect the pressure plate for any scoring, grooves and chips. Also, inspect the flywheel for any rivet grooves, warping or gouging. Surfaces should be smooth. Make sure all teeth on the flywheel are also in good shape.

10. At this point, inspect the release bearing and replace it if worn. Check the pilot bearing for wear and replace if necessary. Apply a light coat of moly-base grease to the transmission input shaft, wiping off any excess. If any signs of wear or distortion are present these parts should be replaced on installation.

11. Remove the rubber dust boot/cover from the withdrawal lever at the bellhousing.

12. Release and detach the retainer spring clip assembly from the ball pivot in the bellhousing. Remove the withdrawal lever along with the clutch release bearing (throwout bearing) and hub assembly. Inspect the withdrawal lever for cracks or damage. It may be necessary to remove the bearing from the hub with a two or three jaw puller.

13. Press the new bearing in place, being sure to only put pressure on the center of the bearing race. Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly. Apply high-temperature grease to the recess of the release-bearing hub along with the pivot points of the withdrawal lever.

My Harley Won'T Start

Troubleshoot fuel, ignition and compression for your Harley's no-start condition.

Harley-Davidson motorcycles require three conditions to be met in order to run: a precisely metered air-fuel charge, sufficient compression and a timed ignition. Component failure or maladjustment of any of these systems can lead to a non-running condition. Troubleshoot the systems one component at a time, starting with the easiest-to-access areas first; eliminate the components one at a time until the problem is rectified or the bad component or adjustment is isolated.

Instructions

Check the Fuel

1. Check the fuel level in the tank either by checking the fuel gauge with the ignition key in the "On" position or by unscrewing the gas cap and looking inside the tank. Replace the fuel with fresh gasoline if the gas appears old or stale. Old gas smells like varnish and appears discolored. Stale fuel can cause the engine to not run.

2. Ensure that the fuel petcock is in the "On" or "Reserve" position.

3. Remove the fuel-line retainer from the fuel-inlet barb on the carburetor with pliers. Pull the fuel line off of the carburetor by hand.

4. Place the loose end of the fuel line into a fuel-safe container. Put the bike in "Neutral" and turn the engine over with the ignition switch. Observe the fuel line for fuel flow. Check the vacuum line connecting the carburetor to the petcock for leaks or damage if the fuel fails to flow. A bad vacuum line leaks air and prevents the vacuum-operated petcock from opening. Replace the vacuum line and try to start the engine.

5. Inspect the fuel that was discharged from the fuel line for signs of water, foreign matter and age. Water or stale gas in the fuel system will prevent the engine from running. Change the fuel in the tank for fresh gasoline if these conditions are present in the gas discharged from the fuel line.

6. Remove the petcock and inspect the screen if no fuel comes from the fuel line during the flow test or if the fuel has trash or rust flakes in it. Petcock filters clog and prevent fuel flow and have been known to vibrate off of the petcock, allowing unfiltered fuel into the system. Rebuild the carburetors if the filter is found to have fallen off of the petcock with trash or rust flakes present. Install a new fuel petcock filter and try to start the engine.

Check the Ignition

7. Remove the spark plugs with a spark plug socket and ratchet. Inspect the spark plugs for fouling or damage that may prevent firing. Replace the spark plugs if they are fouled or damaged. Try to start the engine.

8. Connect a timing light's power leads to the bike's battery. Connect the red (positive) lead first, then the black (negative) lead.

9. Activate the timing light and watch for the strobe. Check the spark-plug wire's connections and the coil wire's connections if the timing light indicates that there is no spark. Test for spark again.

10. Remove ignition-coil bolts with a wrench and have the coil tested by a service center if there is still no spark. A bad ignition pickup or ignition module is indicated if the coil passes the tests and there is no spark being produced.

Compression Test

11. Remove both spark plugs with a spark plug socket and ratchet. Install a compression gauge into the front cylinder spark plug hole.

12. Open the throttle all the way with the throttle control on the handlebar. Turn the engine over with the ignition switch for about six seconds.

13. Turn the ignition switch off and read the gauge. Compression should be between 165 to 225 lbs. per square inch (PSI). Compression readings lower than 165 PSI indicate worn cylinders and rings. Engines with worn cylinders and rings will not develop sufficient compression to fire and must be rebuilt.

Travel Guide For Wisconsin Attractions

There are many other tourist attractions in Wisconsin besides Wisconsin Dells.

The Midwest is known for its many charms and nowhere is this more evident than Wisconsin. Its geography is a mixture of low lying plains, massive coniferous forests, sandstone formations and glacial lakes. As such, this is one of the best places to enjoy nature anywhere in the country. Coupled with a well-balanced and fairly predictable climate, this makes the state a great place to visit for outdoor enthusiasts.

Historical Sites

Wisconsin's historical sites are well-preserved and available for public tours that chronicle the state's past. Fairlawn Mansion provides a glimpse into the state's industrial heritage and houses a museum. The development of the state can be much appreciated after visiting the First Capitol Historic Site in Belmont. A site of national importance is the Little White Schoolhouse in Ripon, the birthplace of the Republican Party.

Festivities and Celebrations

Visiting the state's food and wine festivals is a great way to taste the culture quite literally. Much appetite is required if you are to drop by the Festival of Flavors in Eagle River where the best of Northwoods Wisconsin can be expected. Live music and food joins wine-tasting at the Wet Whistle Wine Fest in Algoma. Jazz on the Vine, in Elkhart Lake, combines soul music and food from the Osthoff culinary team. A more exclusive event is the Food, Wine and Cider Festival in Stockholm.

Tours

Part of Wisconsin's rich history was how Prohibition gangsters, such as Al Capone and John Dillinger, used to hide out in the state's wooded areas. 'Gangster tours' take you to some of the state's most notorious locales associated with Prohibition. Tours that lead to lighthouses along the Great Lakes are also available. Another tour to join is the Apostle Islands Cruise Service, which allows you to see the Apostle Islands up close and personal. Daily tours of the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee are available.

The Great Outdoors

Among the best outdoor locations to visit is the Great Wisconsin Birding and Nature Trail. This is a place for bird and nature watching and among the first of such areas in the state. Rock and sandstone formations await the weary traveler at the Apostle Island National Lakeshore. A drive along the Great River Road National Scenic Byway is a relaxing and comforting one. It is also an ideal destination for bikers, anglers, campers and birdwatchers. A series of waterfalls and forests along the North Country National Scenic Trail can also be explored.

Will A Samsung Hd Camcorder Work On Mac

Download an owner's manual from Samsung to check for Mac compatibility.

Although the Mac operating system is the second-most commonly used computer platform behind Windows, few Samsung HD camcorders are compatible with the operating system. Even if your camcorder is compatible with Mac, you need to take certain steps to use the device with Mac applications.

Samsung SC-MX20

A document on Samsung's technical support website indicates that Samsung HD camcorders are not compatible with Mac computers as of October 2011. However, despite this edict, Apple indicates that there is one Samsung HD camcorder that you can use with a Mac. You can save videos that you shoot with Samsung's SC-MX20 camcorder to a Mac computer. However, you must perform installation steps before connecting the device to your system.

Required Installations

Before loading Samsung SC-MX20 videos to your Mac computer you must first install the most recent version of Apple's QuickTime video codec. To obtain the latest QuickTime release, open your Web browser and navigate to apple.com/quicktime/download. Then click the "Download Now" button and run the EXE installation file to install the application. Once QuickTime is installed, open your Mac's copy of the iMovie program. Click the "Apple" menu and click "Software Update," and then follow the on-screen instructions to update to the latest version of iMovie. Once these installations are complete, you're ready to download your Samsung camcorder's videos.

Import Movies

To import movies from your Samsung SC-MX20 to your computer, first plug the camcorder in to your Mac using the data cable that came with the device. Next, open the iMovie application. Click "File" and then click "Import Movies" to begin the import process. Then double-click your Samsung camcorder in the browser window, click the "VIDEO" folder and then click the "VIDEO100" subfolder. Doing so displays a list of the video clips stored on your computer. Select all video clips that you would like to import and then click the "Import" button to save the videos to your Mac's hard drive.

Check Samsung Support

The user manual that comes with each Samsung HD camcorder lists whether the device is Mac compatible. Although most current Samsung camcorders don't work on Mac as of October 2011, Mac compatibility may be added to future versions. You can check whether a new Samsung camcorder works with Mac by downloading the device's manual from Samsung support. Open your web browser and navigate to samsung.com/us/support/downloads. Choose "Camcorders" and "High Definition" in the first two drop-down menus, then choose the model that you want to research from the Model Name menu. Next, click the download icon under the File heading that corresponds to the most recent version of the user manual. Doing this will download the manual and display it on your screen. You can then search for the word "Mac" within the manual to find information about whether the camcorder works with Mac computers.

Install Led Lights In Saddlebags

Saddlebags are often used for motorcycle touring.

Saddlebags are often used for motorcycle touring. These hard-shelled bags attach to the rear sides of the motorcycle and provide a weathertight shell to transport gear on the space-limited motorcycle. Adding a series of small LED lights to the saddlebags provides an extra level of visibility to others on the road, thus giving an added level of safety for the rider. Adding the LED lights to the saddlebags is a quick and simple task, and one that is easy to do yourself.

Instructions

1. Lay out the LED light strip for the saddlebags. These strips are available through motorcycle supply stores. Hold the strip up against the saddlebags and determine where you wish to cut them down for a custom fit.

2. Cut down the LED strips to your desired length. When cutting the LED light strip, check your instruction guide, as some require cuts be made in certain locations. Remember, check twice and cut once.

3. Wash off the surface of the saddlebags where the LED strip lights will attach. Use soapy water and a sponge, then let the saddlebag areas dry.

4. Pull the attachment wires and plugs out from the strip and peel off the tape on the bottom of the LED strip.

5. Stick the LED lights onto the saddlebags in the washed and prepped area. Press hard on the strip to get the adhesive to set.

6. Run the wires or plugs to the desired power source. Use the motorcycle battery or a set of battery attachments in the saddlebags themselves.

Install Front Lowering Kit On Harley

Install Front Lowering Kit on Harley

Harley-Davidson's touring motorcycles have a reputation for a voracious appetite for long-distance rides and are well-equipped to ensure that the rider is comfortable while in the saddle. Unfortunately, the distance from the saddle to the asphalt can intimidate shorter riders, who must stand on the tips of their toes to keep the motorcycle upright at stoplights. Fortunately, Harley-Davidson offers a kit to reduce the height of the bike by an inch, providing a firm footing for the vertically challenged. Installation, however, requires a fair amount of technical aptitude.

Instructions

1. Place the motorcycle onto a lift or stand and remove the front brake caliper(s), fender and wheel. Loosen the pinch bolts on the triple clamp and slide the front forks downward to remove them.

2. Disassemble the forks individually, pulling the fork spring out of the tube and draining the fork oil into a catch basin or container.

3. Reinsert the spring into the fork tube and place the fork, upside-down, onto a rag or towel. Press downward and maintain pressure to compress the fork spring. Remove the retaining screw from the bottom of the lower fork leg and release the compression on the spring. Pull the spring, blow valve, and damper tube from the fork tube. Remove the rebound spring from the damper rod. You may now discard the spring and damper rod.

4. Split the fork tube and lower fork leg by removing the retaining ring that joins them. Remove the fork oil seal, seal spacer, bushing, and oil lock stop. Discard everything except for the seal spacer and oil lock stop.

5. Install the rebound spring on the new damper tube. Slide the damper tube and the oil lock stop into the fork tube. Insert the fork tube into the lower fork leg. Slide a new bushing, followed by the spacer seal and fork oil seal, down the tube and into the lower fork leg.

6. Drive the fork oil seal into the fork tube until the retaining clip groove is visible on the inside lip of the lower fork leg. Slide the retaining clip down the fork tube and install it into the groove in the lower fork leg.

7. Slide the blow valve into the fork tube and install the spring over it, inserting the heavily coiled end of the spring into the tube first. Place the fork, upside-down, onto a rag or towel. Press downward and maintain pressure to compress the fork spring. Install a new retaining screw into the hole on the bottom of the lower fork leg.

8. Turn the fork right-side up and pull the spring out of the tube. Fill the fork tube with fork oil, adding 11.2 ounces of oil through the top of the fork tube. Reinstall the fork spring, heavily coiled end first, and screw the fork plug onto the fork tube.

9. Repeat on second fork and reinstall onto the motorcycle. Reinstall the front wheel, fender, and brake caliper(s).
